  • Thsi is a Motormouth couple car video on the all-new 2024 Volvo EX90 full electric 3-row SUV. Introducing the new Volvo EX90 electric SUV, it’s Volvo’s third electric vehicle. This is a 7-passenger EV that will be built in the US. The company plans to unveil a new electric vehicle each year and by 2030 will only sell electric vehicles. Volvo also plans to be a climate-neutral company by 2040. The Volvo EX90 has two powertrain options, both AWD. The Performance model has up to 496 horsepower and 671 lb-ft of torque. It goes 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. This EV has a 111 kWh battery and gets an estimated 480 km/300 miles of range. It can tow almost 5,000 pounds. The less powerful EX90 with 402 horsepower will offer the same range as the performance model. The Volvo EX90 is a stylish looking family SUV with a Scandinavian design with modern proportions. The Thor’s Hammer headlights greet you with a welcome sequence when you approach the car, these pixel lights open and close. The sleek and streamlined silhouette is clean and modern with flushed door handles. The EX90 is 3” longer than the XC90 and a little bit wider but the wheelbase is the same. Both offer about the same amount of cargo space behind the third row and overall cargo space but the Volvo EX90 has a frunk, so you will get a little more storage space in this EV. The Volvo EX90 uses recycled materials in the cabin, it has a large vertical 14.5” touchscreen with google built-in and a digital driver display behind the steering wheel. Google Apps and services, Google maps and more of your favourite apps on Google Play all come built-in. The EX90 is compatible with wireless Apple Carplay. There is an available Bowers and Wilkins audio system with speakers integrated into the headrests. Pricing has not been announced yet but Volvo says, it will start under $80,000 USD. Deliveries are expected to start summer of 2024 and the EX90 will be built at the Ridgeville, South Carolina plant.

    I saw this in Toronto a couple of weeks ago and it was stunning in person. I like that Volvo's electrics still look like normal cars and aren't "weird" to show that they're electric. I have a V90 Cross Country and am hoping that a wagon is still in Volvo's electric future. A very nice evolution for the brand.

      @@danguelph2676 Volvo is not a budget brand. The EX30 is a 4 seater and barely that. But it is a Volvo. The EX90 is a successor to the very successful XC90 so the market for Volvo says they want a 6 to 7 seater lux "SUV." On the sedan side, they have the S90, a car that did not sell well for Volvo and sedans don't sell well. Volvo is not for a majority of families. That is what some other brands offer.

Frunk space and especialy the 2nd row tilting functions with straps that might get stuck in the mechanism if you are not careful. Not really a very user friendly approach. 3rd row is considerably smaller compared to the EV9.

You didn't show the backlit wood which is an interesting way of illuminating the dashboard. I also wish Volvo would make a light gray headliner. The charcoal headliner makes the car feel less open and more closed in. This car also shares a lot inside with the Polestar 3, maybe do a side by side comparison one day when they come to market. Nice car, a bit conservative. I find the EX30 to have way more interesting design details on the interior. Interesting. Pricing seems comparable to the current XC-90 in the U.S. I have questions, comments, and concerns, though. I need you guys to drive this one, and give an honest impression of both that experience, as well as the infotainment system. Call me a luddite, but I don't trust a car without backup analog systems. Does look nice, in any case.

    • @PhilipRybin
      @PhilipRybin ปีที่แล้ว

      No, pricing is not comparable. You can get a fully loaded XC90 T8 PHEV below $80K, and this nonsense with cheap door handles, gear stick lever from a 15-years-old Mercedes instead of crystal, unchanged up to a buttons trunk space, gimmicky interior door opening and and windows control (1 lever for 4 windows, sic!), a joke kids screen dashboard (compared to rivals) starts below $80K. I hope it's really a pre-production model and they will improve lots of things, otherwise a hard pass. Current 2023 XC60 T8 Ultimate owner.
