    I drive a 2022 version of this car, 34K miles and no problems other than a front strut top bearing that got noisy and was replaced under warranty. It’s my daily driver, work vehicle, and checks all the boxes for me. Tows light trailers well too. Range estimate is 170-220 miles (winter-summer respectively) with recommended charge at 90% max to help battery longevity. A bit pricey but a solid vehicle

      @kenschmiesing4442 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      MY2022 ultimate. I agree with the range. In winter (around freezing), I get about 150-160 miles on 80%

      Crazy thing is the strut bearing is shared with the p1 chassis cars from mid 04-2013. The strut bearing is under 70 bucks OEM and aftermarket with a lifetime warranty it's only 50

    I love not having a start button. That is so much better to me to get in and leave and then not worry about leaving it on

      Honestly what is the purpose of a start/stop button on an EV? Just comfort for people who don’t like change I guess. I definitely wouldn’t want one, needless extra steps.

      Some people need closure.
      They don’t trust a device if it is still on.
      They need to know it’s “off”.
      My Lyriq AWD has a start stop button.
      The Blazer EV doesn’t.
      I prefer it.
      When you get into a Tesla there is no button and you have no idea if it’s ready to move or not.

      I think using it once solves that problem. You learn that it’s always ready, as it should be.

    I just got the Volvo XC40 last December. The MY24 Twin drive version in north Europe comes with the 82kwh battery. Though I am missing the heating option on the back seat even though I got the ultimate trim.

      @richardschmid272 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They removed that from the switch to my23 model. I have the my23 and I don't have rear heating. But the US still has it? Anyway still love my car!! Absolute marvel

    I was going to go with this car, but I was one of those "Early Adopters" and pre-ordered a Fisker Ocean. Less cargo space, but I don't have kids, don't golf, don't haul stuff, just do outdoor things so it's fine with me. In Denver, if you guys want to check it out. Sorry, its an Ultra, not the "One"

  • @bvon336

    Bought the previous year model right before the Fed credit went away. My mother loves it. 20k miles so far. Range is spot on and adequate for a “eastern seaboard” car. Only have ever had to fast charge 3 times. It’s slow but who cares if you rarely use it.

  • @scottstephenson9312

    We're on our second XC40, and we'll likely get a third when they do a BEV-only redesign one of these years. Nathan said it best - a well sorted design. Also a timeless exterior design language - the XC40 will still look good two decades from now. A bit of chrome bling on the inside, but not so bad it offends.

    The fact that there no start button is the greatest depending on your preference. If you'd like to turn it off, hold the play button for 3 seconds.

    I had a Volkswagen Golf for my last car. Was really torn between a Tesla, BMW or this Volvo. Choose the Volvo because it was the best money value and the 2024 update was available for order. The Tesla model 3 update was not yet announced at that point and the i4 was just not for me. Hope it was the right choose. Should get my new car in may.

    Just got a XC40 Ultimate Twin MY24 here in Brazil. Still the 78Kwh battery - I think the whole America get this pack, not the 82Kwh one. I don't really miss the start/stop button at all, but no EPB and no auto hold?? Why?? When I stop at a traffic light with no car ahead, either I have to keep pressing the brake pedal or press the P button, and then press the brake pedal again and move the lever to D. The cost cut on this harmed the car drive car experience in a point that became an absurd shortcome. Absolutely ridiculous. Volvo should be ashamed.

    why is everyone so hot on the so called frunk.. I have a model 3 and never use or open the frunk..

    • @PeterJames143
      @PeterJames143 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah i'm with you. I confess I don't have an EV but to me it seems very inconvenient to open the front of a vehicle just to access a piece of luggage slightly larger than a purse. It looks stupid but the Leaf's little door on the front of their car is actually more convenient than a frunk. The door is roughly proportional to the size of the available storage room.
      People discuss the frunk as if it is an important consideration in the quality of a vehicle. For me it is not much more than a waste of space and engineering planning, and any serious storage needs are taken care of by the traditional locations of auto storage.
      The rivian's pass through is, to me, much more potentially useful than a frunk. The trunk or hatch area or the back seat are both more useful than a frunk.

    • @TJPavey
      @TJPavey 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unless it’s large I’m not sure. It’s nice on a pickup so you have some storage that is secured and away from the elements.

      I like having cargo space separate from the back of the car, for when I have my dogs in the back, and want somewhere to put stuff I don't want the dogs getting into, or crowding the dogs.

    • @Molishious
      @Molishious 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Our dog just ate our leftovers. A frunk would have come in handy. Obviously there are other ways of solving the problem, but a frunk is a good way if you have one. As an aftermarket modification you can have your frunk converted to be auto opening and closing. As it is normally, it’s easier to open in the Y than this since you can open it using the app.

    • @77cns
      @77cns 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's perfectly sized to store the cable + a container of wiper fluid. Otherwise, you're right, I don't open it. (Actually, I kept a thick blanket/throw there for winter just in case.)

      The instrument panel lights up, the centre console shows Volvo as the system wakes up and then the main page comes up when you sit in the driver seat. It defaults to Park. There’s no engine to fire up, so no need for a button in the battery version. You get used to it. Use the One Pedal Drive setting and the car sits still in Drive, even on a hill. ‘Normal’ setting is selectable by profile, so my wife uses it and I use OPD. Press the accelerator pedal to go, lift off to slow down. The brake pedal is the same, except that it uses the motors to slow down until it hits 1/3G or ABS, ASC are needed. The transition to any of them is transparent and instant. Works for me.

    Cool looking vehicle tbh, but it takes some serious mental gymnastics to pay $62k for this versus a long-range Model Y at $47k. Heck that 62k is likely to be way more by the time a dealer sales team gets through with me. Hard to image this smaller car is worth paying 15k more than a Model Y LR

      Considering trading my 2021 Model YLR for the C40. After 3 years and 36K miles, the stiff suspension on the Y has become tiresome. It also has some annoying squeaks and rattles. The best thing about Tesla is the software and the Supercharger network. They do not build the best cars.

      The ID4 is nowhere near as fun I found. I'm a VW guy and WANTED to like the ID4 and just couldn't. Also the interior quality is superior in the Volvo I found, but you do pay for it obviously. This car feels more like a GTI than a SUV to me.

      I drove both an ID4 and an XC40 on the same evening this week. I just did not like the layout of the dash and screen on the ID4, and it just felt somewhat like an economy vehicle. Then I got in the XC40, and it just felt so much better and more like a premium-priced car should feel; I signed a lease the same night.
