Hi, at 10.33 on the dash it shows 25.6kwh/100m for current trip which is about 3.8 miles per kw, but you quoted 2.5 m per kw, cant be both? , great vid tho! thanks
My Hyundai Kona EV does 5.2mi per KwH easily. Any EV that cannot manage at least 4mi per KwH I wouldn’t even bother with even though this car looks great.
88 / 5.000 This video obviously tries to downplay all the major flaws of this car. My advice: You should drive it first very carefully. The driving itself is impressive but check the way you have to work with the central display. There are an awful lot of serious bugs and inconveniences that are not mentioned in this video that are seriously annoying. And the consumption is never below 20 kWh/100km if you use only a bit of the power that is offered.
Me thinks you're being a little optimistic with the 0-60 time of 3.0 seconds Mr. Howard!? 3.4... _Maybe?_ On a good day... On the right track... With a pro driver... But certainly not 3.0. Unless you're on a very steep hill... Or you've just driven off a cliff. That'd work ;-))... *_ONCE!_* And if you're sidekick with the camera and sandwiches is called Eliot, this means you must be ET? 🤔🤷♂ Extremely Talented? Great video again. And this EX30 is certainly one to look at if you're in the market for an affordable'ish EV 8-))...
Had a test drive the other day nice car for the money and if you mainly take 2 people it’s fine, the back room is absolutely terrible, I put the seat in my position and my 6 year old was squashed
I have to say that I felt this review was very softball. It’s about the fifth review I’ve watched now, and there were many faults listed across the other reviews that this one seemed to gloss over. It’s like the reviewer has an emotional attachment, and just decided to gloss over anything negative.
Don't buy a Volvo EX30 as if kids/dogs in car and you want to go into a shop/leave car alarm goes off, no way of stopping it! Software is very poor. If I had been told that I couldn't disable alarm, I wouldn't have bought it.
I have driven this car from Norway to Sweden and back. Drove around 230 km, and had it all day. 5 degrees C out. The range was way worse than I expected. I drove a lot on the highway, though, in 110 km/h. I am not used to electric cars, but people have told me there is a huge difference driving 90 or 100, instead of 110 and 120 when it comes to range. For me, a car enthusiast who mainly drive petrol/diesel-cars and motorcycles; this annoys me. I wanna drive how I wanna drive. But when I get 230 km and have only 7% battery left (it was charged 93% in the beginning), that's just not good enough for me. And I think the Tesla Model 3 LR does way better than this. A few bits I wanna add to this video: Volvo is now owned by a chinese company. While many cars still are produced in Sweden; this car is produced in China for the moment. When you buy this car, you are supporting chinese companies and manufacturing. Many people don't wanna support China, so this is important for buyers to beware. Also "3 second 0-100" is reaching a bit... I guess with the right ambient temperature and tyre temperature and the right tyres, maybe. But when I drove it, the front wheels tends to spin, wich makes the car not grip as well as it should. Usually (good) cars have around 60/40 power ratio with the back wheels doing most of the work on 4WD to prevent this. The self-driving was horrible. The steering corrected sharply, not smoothly, and I didnt feel like I could trust it, like in a Mercedes. The radar cruise worked fine. I recommend you go out and try this car, because you might not like the interior finish. It's hard to spot on the video, but the "sustainable" plastic parts look way worse when you see them live. All this having been said; I am NOT saying the car is horrible. If you are not a car enthusiast like me, and you just want a relatively cheap "A to B" car, wich is comfortable and feels kind of premium; and you are more interested in apps and features than ride-quality and performance balance, then this is a perfectly reasonable car. I liked it for what I used it for; just getting A to B. But the range was a disappointment though.
I own an EX30 Extended Range Ultra - and absolutely love it. So great to drive, comfortable seats and with many cool and modern features. If you need space in the backseat, not so good. I don’t. Only annoying thing for me is that the frunk is too small for the cable.
Leaving the EV charge network to the oil companies doesn’t make sense. Why don’t the Premium brands get together and set up a network like Tesla? It’s an income for them for life. This Volvo is a nice car but you buy a Tesla as you can jump in and drive to Monaco, Berlin or Lund with no hassle. Elon does need to employ a better stylist however…
I see, those 22.000 swedish enployees became Chinese overnight when Geely took them over. And those non-chinese factories just teleported to China as well.
This TH-camr loves Volvo above any bad feature or proven fact(s) that it may come along with or, maybe his gets some incentive by the brand, many would think. Volvo is Chinese, it is no longer European. Money goes to China once a car is bought, logically. The car is beautiful, I like it very much, i understand the enthusiasm the TH-camr has about it, but it has many mayor flaws that I hope the parent Chinese brand fixes. Safety first, Volvo.
Ah. I miss the old clip clop clip clop followed by a neigh and a long exhaling snort. This car doesn't do that. Also it won't touch the bucket of oats I put in front of it. Picky eater. I'll pass until they get these kinks worked out. Nice try Volvo!
Loads of customers have returned the EX30 for a full refund and it has been withdrawn from sale as its software is a mess, loads of faults with it. Why manufacturers insist on overloading these milk floats with tech is just asking for trouble. Volvo is dying as a car company at the hands of another Chinese company.

Very good. Observation. That's way more economical. We will check in appreciate the post, we will pin it.

Its not owned by Chinese. They bought actions. Its different.
Love this fella and his car reviews. Even more so when he turns the sarcasm up a notch
Ordered a twin motor Ultra EX30 - can’t wait
Ordered a single motor extended range 🎉should arrive September 🎉
Great video 🙌
I got mine a month ago, in Denmark. One like yours. An absolute joy to drive. You are in for a treat.
Hi 👋
I can't wait first EV 🎉
Just sorting out my charger 🎉
I want this car pretty bad, I want it even more after this review.
Whatever you pay this guy, it's not enough.

Mr Howard does the best real world review’s ItW!
Is there any way you can be sure that the car is locked as you walk away ?
Good review as always Howard, car looks great
13:53 - Why is multi-link a weird choice for rear suspension on an EV ?
Finally a fair review! Thanks for that!
Only if he gets the facts correct
The base model is 40k, top model that we see in most reviews is +55k.
Great car but I’d have liked to seen you trying to squeeze into the back seat! 😂
Absolutely loved the review! 🎉

Boss review, if the range were a bit longer I'd bite.

Love it!
I loved the driving experience, but got so sweaty on the seats that have no cooling, it was a deal breaker. 😢
Canceled my order here in the US. I got tired of waiting. I’m leasing an ioniq 5. Maybe the EX30 will be here in 2 years when my lease is up.
Volvo may delay EX30 until ex90 domestic production starts to offset the 100% EV tariff. So 2025 most likely
I prefer RWD. Though, I do look forward to driving the EV3.
My daily is a T8 XC90 and it is a very impressive car. The most important aspect of a PHEV is ensuring it is plugged in regularly.
Just calling out the exposed paint on the inside of the doors…

This is a video highlighting the positives of the car
I swear people will find any reason to complain
All is needed is to add the driver's instrument panel from the Zeekr X.

Surprise surprise.
All the negative reviews by competitor brands or bitter ICERS.
Moved from a 335d to an Ultra Twin.
Will never go back.
no way??? Explain? Fun isn't it? Very easy to love right?

One issue not spoken... the space in the back. Quite small unfortunately.
If you need more space you should choose another car. This is a compact SUV.
Buy a ex90 if you want more space
Great family car if you’re the Seven Little Johnstons.
@@charlesblakemore2660 if you need a family car you have to look for another car. This is not the intention of this car.
@@LxStPW that was a joke
I drive the EX30 TMER quite slowly, let other pass. I KNOW that I have the fastest car around, no need to prove!
I own this car for a month now, and I could name at least 10 reasons not to buy it…I don’t get all the positive reviews really
Let's have the list then :)
I am driving the car since 3 months and for me it is perfect
Why? I was thinking on getting one

@@eilifnrgaard4855 I bought another cable for 11kw only which is sufficient. That fits in the frunk.

Volvo is not Swedish, it's Chinese, they are owned by Geely, a large Chinese manufacturer, along with Polestar

Hahaha "That Word"" hahaha
Yeah but the Volvo doesn’t make fart sounds. 🤣 😂
I found this car a bit disappointing. Short range, no dashboard, confusing menu system, limited interior space, old fashion design.

horrible car, been today to Volvo to check one😂😂😂😂
Weird looking car
Cheap looking and feeling Chinese cr... compared e.g. Renault Megane e-tech. No thanks.
Renault EVs are a nightmare. They have too many manual switches.
why can these reveiwers not realise that people are not interested in Evs...
Which people? Many people are interested.
Err. I'm about to buy one so I'm interested
Just ordered my new EV
Did you glue your hand to the table again?
Volvo won’t produce any combustion cars after 2030. As many other brands the’re only developing electric cars.
Sadly EX30 is manufactured in China

Get rid of your dogs and get the kids to play the 'statues game'.
Do we need to tell you not to leave children and pets unattended in a car???
