The design on the bass reminds me of Japanese Washi Tape. Decorative tape that is used in crafts in Japan. It really looks like a large piece of it across the bass body.
Hi, would you do a video about Masayoshi Takanaka’s surf board-shaped guitar? You can see him play the guitar here: th-cam.com/video/cTDK5Bluh5A/w-d-xo.html I’m sure that this guitar will interest a lot of viewers!
I hafta say something to both you guys. Don't you know about Fenders "surf colors", bright and bold? How would you describe the racing stripes on different guitars? I can understand the pattern being described as hippy, but that's a mid-west native American weave, looking like a belt, kinda new age. For a while I could hear pop and Christian songs from the United States, where being an artist or musician meant you were gay. Liking strong colors is close to liking strong flavors in food.
She is lol, I follow them in social media and Ainyan and Hinachu (the drummer) are super nice. They do a ton of live streams and stuff just to hang out
It's a good variation of Fender's "Player Series" Jazz bass. The string- through design is unique (I think) for a Fender bass, and it's weird with the plate not being there. I like the finished-in-color headstock, and the fact that it's a signature model, but, it doesn't say "Jazz Bass" on it at all. Weird.
Great review and demo as always! I'm strangely attracted to both this bass and the white Tele. The Tele really has that Buckethead vibe going. I'm thrilled to have won the contest!! Looking forward to trying it out when it arrives. Thanks Austin. God bless and rock on.
I live in Japan and when I bought my telecaster I went with the MIJ 52 reissue (butterscotch). Much less expensive than the MIA version of the same guitar that I found in a different shop. I’m happy to support Fender Japan, because it saved me money and the local economy. I don’t feel that I took a hit on quality at all. It stays in tune for days! Looks great and plays great. If you have the opportunity to buy a MIJ fender that you like you should go for it. I am more than satisfied with what I got.
A little hard to tell but pretty sure your low E and D are off my 4 to 5 cents lol. The pickups almost sound super 80s/90s ceramic. The 62 to 64s had more of a growl from the alnicos, like the pups in my 1968 jazz bass. These pups to me just sound duddy lol. This is another reason why I don’t have one lol. Glad I got to finally find this video. Loved the orange amp for sure! Dig your channel bro. Keep up the awesome work!(:
Could you look look into the Official Fender Evangelion telecaster? It was recently released by fender in Japan and has seen a limited release here in America. They also made a two more guitars based on the show, they are a Stratocaster and another telecaster based on the same show.
Hey Trogly, I plan to become a Luthier, and when I get a good product made I'll send you one. Free of charge, no need to review or anything, just a bass or guitar for you to keep as your own
I've been around since them new fellers, The Beatles, first came out -- so I've seen the evolution of rock. Silent Siren is definitely cool (and what a great name!) and you'll also like Band Maid as well; every one is a virtuoso and rocks hard! Looks like Japan is THE place for rockers now, with all due respect to everyone else!
I hope Silent Siren gets more recognition in western world at least through their Fender guitars. They really deserve it, they're adorable (a band i mean).
Actually fender made a Series called “fender squier Series” some time between the 70’s and 90’s where they made a jazz bass with the one piece pickguard aswell.. they’re not that easy to come by
Yeah I have a 1995 MIM jazz bass with a one piece pickgaurd and it is hideous. What I dislike most is that stock, these came with Stratocaster knobs so it just looks really cheap. Plus the bridge that came stock blows as well.
That Princeton looked funny. I have a 1964 non reverb and it has regular blackface knobs. I know they weren't changed because i bought it new. I think the 63 princess those knobs but it wasn't black. Maybe it is an early 64 and they used up the old knobs. Interesting.
I just played a mahogany offset telecaster (similar to the 2017 Fender American Professional Offset Telecaster you already reviewed, but with mahogany neck and a P-90 in addition to the tele bridge pickup). First time I ever played a MIJ guitar, beautiful instrument, and definitely measures up to any MIA guitar I've ever tried
That bass looks gigantic on her! So cool that she doesn't even play a short scale :-) I'd happily buy that bass if I didn't already have a Jazz. Love the string through option, and those knobs look really nice.
Well done, Fender Japan! Some players prefer the Japanese-built Fenders due to consistently high quality. I have the briefly produced Fender Santa Rosa acoustic electric from Japan, very nice quality. Would be cool to see a review of a Santa Rosa, it's a scarce and odd guitar. They were produced in '89 and '90.
hi trogly, I am thinking about buying Fender Vintera '60s Jaguar Modified Electric Guitar Sonic Blue guitar. For 1149 dollars do you think that this guitar is worth it or buy it used?
Nice! I miss having a Jazz Bass; I used to have my brother's for many years - and then he wanted it back! X-)) Came across a vintage Ibanez 'Musician' bass then (like Sting's, just fretted) which also was a fine bass albeit being very heavy, and I did miss the J's option of blending the pick-ups together anyway I liked. Playing a P-Bass with a J-neck right now :-)
Been trying for a week to build a short scale p-style bass on warmoth and other sites and I’m 90% there just can’t find the tuners that match 17mm headstock holes, apparently fender doesn’t offer the Jazz or p short scale in the usa, but that’s ok cuz I’m gonna get one with a roasted maple neck.
If I were ever to buy a custom shop bass it would bee like this kinda a hopppus inspired one jazz bass shape and neck with white inlays with split ps and the hoppus pick guard
You should get a mark hoppus bass to review comparing the new vs old how they have the split p normal on the old ones and the reverse on the new he says it's so u get more low end for the higher strings but for some reason the older hoppus bass sound better than with the reverse p config
not gonna lie, i can see alot of people being annoyed about this push for female signature guitars.... also, i hope Gina from baroness gets a signature, she's been on their youtube channel doing demo's for god knows how long
Wow! You guessed it has foil behind the entire pick-guard because the knobs aren't mounted on a metal plate. Original Stratocasters had an aluminum plate underneath the entire pick-guard. That was the same aluminum used by newspaper printing presses. Losing that large negative ground defeats communicative feedback ability. You should see those little circles of foil around knobs as being cute, even if they don't look comic quality.
This might be a dumb question, but how do you go about getting a Japanese exclusive guitar? Finding them on ebay and suffering through the import taxes? Great video!!

MIM is much better than MIJ imo
Delle Belphine-Moralez only a cheap ass bum would say that, MIJ at their higher tiers can get better than US lol
Oh my God those Girls can design a signature model. Their music slaps too.
Bro I've been playing bass for a bit and I love when you review and demo basses
I don't think that they look girly. Well, this pattern on the bass looks kinda hippy, but girly? IDK.

@@johnwattdotca I love strong colors (in clothes) but prefer guitars to be more understated....and I'm gay. (and I'm a painter as well). :)
the knobs on the bass are identical to the ones of my Rumble 25 amp
@c.a.t.wes - YES! That's where *I* had seen them before too, on the newer Rumble amps; Thank you for the reminder! :-)
They look a bit shallower than the Rumble knobs, plus these ones are solid-shaft while the rumble ones are split-shaft
Has anyone actually tried replacing their stock knobs with rumble amp knobs?
I do like that bass.... Fender Japan makes some nice stuff.
That paint scheme would make a gorgeous Stratocaster.
Day 8 of asking Trogly to do a review of the Rickenbacker 325 (and 4003 bass as per popular request)
ChronoTriggerGaming im hyped! hope he does one
honestly i would be so happy then sad because im too broke to own one lol
Add a Guild Starfire to the likely never list
Buy one in his Page and he would do the review
Yes 4003
those basses are really well thought, i love that it has a bone nut and cts pots stock
that's one very good looking bass. even the stripe compliments the minty colour and the fretboard very nicely
