    I've never wanted a LP bass until this one...

      I agree. The LP body never looked quite right on a bass until I saw this one.

    I converted an Epiphone Thunderbird into a baritone guitar. I called it “The Thunderbeast” haha you can find the sold listing on reverb. That Fluffy guy that does the ridiculous reverb videos was knocking on it in one video. For the record it’s a 3 point bridge converted to a ToM bridge, so yeah it was correctly placed and intonation was accurate. It was a different Beast to play for sure, but was a fun project done over a weekend.

    @trogley i had a studio bfg. I believe it was gotm #25. Gloss black, one p90, one humbucker with a kill switch, 2 vol, 1 tone, and a selector switch.

    I don’t know anything those pickups but that’s the best sounding Gibson bass I’ve heard in many a year.

    • @TripleThreat2405

      Simon, I agree 100%. Great clarity AND bottom end - from a Gibson!

  • @Hordes_Of_Nebulah
    @Hordes_Of_Nebulah ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should do more obscure gibson basses. I use a 1982 victory artist series bass on stage and it is a beast of an instrument that most people I talk to haven't even heard of.

  • @ericbgordon1575
    @ericbgordon1575 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I could see myself owning a bass like that, original pickups or not. I definitely appreciate the finish - or lack thereof.

  • @doe53
    @doe53 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I dont think you could convert it properly because the frets are spaced for 34 inch scale length. It would never intonate.

    • @peejay6930
      @peejay6930 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would work with a replaced fingerboard fretted for the new scale length, but I don't it's worth it

  • @simonpark843
    @simonpark843 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I didn't even know these existed! My 2007 BFG (in the worn ebony finish) is my favourite guitar of all time - thanks for making this video, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Have you heard of the Edwards E SA 180 ltc guitars? Semi hollow 335 style.
    Can’t seem to find any videos on these guitars. Maybe you could fix that?

  • @100DollarHeadache
    @100DollarHeadache ปีที่แล้ว +1

    More basses should have true neck pickups like this. The N+M sound is almost like a Rickenbacker.

  • @BryceJones23
    @BryceJones23 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    "If you are a recording artist"...
    If you are a recording artist they hand you a P bass and tell you to put the Gibson back in its case.
    Amazing bass though! I want it!

  • @jameslanclos568
    @jameslanclos568 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder how they get that finish. Is it quilted maple that's been sandblasted lightly, leaving only the most resin-y parts of the wood raised ??? I'd really like to know how it's done. Does anyone know?

    • @wyw876
      @wyw876 ปีที่แล้ว

      The factory stops after the rough shaping pass on the CNC shaper, and passes the body blank off to the next step, routing out the pickup cavities.

    Mike Kerr from the band Royal Blood plays Bass with a bunch of effect pedals through a guitar amp that sounds more like guitar than bass like the last demo Trogly played. You can do so much now with effects that it's possible to tour as a 2 piece like Royal Blood and not have to hire touring musicians. Cliff Burton used to modify his Rickenbacker Bass with guitar humbuckers to get a more aggressive sound. If you like the sounds Trogly was making then check out Electro Harmonix pedals. They make some pretty cool stuff that will help inspire any struggling musician find some new type of sound/groove. I own over 20 twenty pedals from EFX and love them all.

    Wow as a bass player i love it. MY first bass was a 66 Gibson EB-0 over 45 years ago and still have it. LP Bass was never a big fan, EB-3 yes or Grabber or Ripper but thats so strange i would leave it as is, its a bass not a Baritone, leave it alone.

  • @aussieb1416
    @aussieb1416 ปีที่แล้ว

    Killer bass that's new to me so thank you but what you did with the kill switch leaving it loose like that was a pretty average move at best. I'd say more but just know that's not a cool effort at fixing a problem.

  • @dw7704
    @dw7704 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Basses almost always have the tailpiece closer to the edge of the body than guitars.
    Compare a Firebird to a Thunderbird for a bigger difference
    So the tailpiece location on this is not unusual by any means

  • @clarkbabin9799
    @clarkbabin9799 ปีที่แล้ว

    The conversion from bass to 6 would be wierd unless of course you use strings that are heavier. My younger brother uses 11s for his regular 6 strings which I think would work here.

    I'm a bass player that's always wanted a LP bass, although I've never been a fan of the pick up placement, nor the 3-point bridge on most.
    I love this bass, it just oozes cool. I think the replacement pickups sound killer.

    • @60degreelobwedge82
      @60degreelobwedge82 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. You would need to slide the saddles all the way back to the original bridge position to intonate it.

    That's a rare bird what a great bass not to be made into a guitar though at 34 inch scale that's not a good move.
    They used to call the les Paul base the "money bass" this is very close to that except with three pickups.
