Modding a 3ds is probably a lot better then just going on a buying rampage, this way you can get all NES, SNES, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS games working fine on it. I recommend an SD card of 32 gb or higher cause some games like RPG's take up alot of space. The older titles (NES,SNES,GB,GBC,GBA, and some ds games*) take up like no space. And not only that, you have a library of freely to download 3DS custom themes using Anamone. And if you also own a wii I would recommend to jailbreak it too since it fives u access to all wii and gamecube games aslong yr using an usb or sd card with a reasonable size.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo knows that people are going to mod their units. One of the main reasons they are probably thinking of is that the Switch will have all these games in the future anyway, and that making more older but still beloved hardware and software is just more plastic.

It's extremely easy and practically no risk at all. 99.9% risk free, so long as you follow the tutorials. I modded my DS in 30m, not including the load times. All you need is at least 128gb SD Card and you're set

@@velocityraptor6051 That was my initial plan, but I realized how small 3DS games were. I also wanted to have all my completed game save files backed up, as well. And of course quick/instant access to all the games whenever
I got a 128gb and just grabbed errything. It took so long to download and install it all thru FBI and hShop
The only reason I still need to remove my SD, is to put more music on it
It's best to just have errything downloaded and ready. Bucz the download/load speeds are insanely slow..
I wouldn't recommend going less than 128gb, unless you just have no interest in most 3DS games. But ultimately, you'll regret not having enough space. It's pointless to just swap games out instead of just getting all the space you'll need
I started out with a 32gb SD and quickly realized how tedious errything was. It filled up faster than I thought, and I only had like 3 games on it smh

Note: For the GBA any 3DS is capable of playing the games perfectly.
Nintendo went out of their way to include ALL of the GBA hardware in some way (similar to what they did with the DS Lite). 3DS GBA VC injects are not emulators, they actually boot the system into a special "GBA_FIRM" mode.
There's now an application called "OPEN_GBA_FIRM" that lets you essentially boot into that mode with a GBA ROM handed off to it, so you don't even need to install every GBA game as a VC Inject anymore either.
It's worth noting that the DSi did NOT do this, the DSi is missing some of the hardware the GBA has. GBARunner2 is a hypervisor that runs the roms in "DS Mode" much like how Nintendont on the Wii is a hypervisor that runs the GC game in Wii mode. But DS Mode can't use GBA soecific hardware when ran on a DS Lite and that hardware does not exist at all on the DSi (notably the chip that does the GBA sound, GBA sounds in GBARunner2 are emulated). So there's some compatibility issues.

    • @runed0s86
      @runed0s86 ปีที่แล้ว

They didn't go out of their way to include it.
The DSi does actually have all of the hardware in it to run GBA games.

One question I have been thinking about with 3DS moding is Pokemon Crystal, or more importantly, the GS Ball event that was activated in the Virtual Console version in all languages. Would it be possible to use any copy of Crystal's rom or is there a special version made for the 3DS?

You can find downloads for virtual console games, but if there are other event pokemon/items you'd want to get that aren't available anymore, pksm can inject them into any compatible save (and some that aren't the intended game but are the same gen like sun events in moon)

Hello can someone answer my questions.
I bought a Nintendo 3DS using my savings and what I got was a unit that being jailbreak. I don't know how it function and I'm not planning to use it either. I'm afraid that the jailbreak will shorten the life span of my DS and I don't know if it requires updating or what. This is my first DS because I can't afford it when I was a kid and I want to use it to play Pokemon and transfer some that I catch from one region and generation to another. My questions are...
    - Is it really okay to have a jailbreak on nintendo? Like, what is better WITH or WITHOUT?
    - Is it okay if I don't update the jailbreak to latest or what?
    - Do I get banned from this?
    Thank you

the lifespan of your DS should be fine, and nothing will really happen. Playing on it should also be fine if you're not blatantly hacking online if you really want to be careful. Nintendo is starting to care less for the 3ds/ds so you'll be perfectly fine. It's also much better to have the cfw on it.
Also, mind telling me what's installed on it? If you want i could try to help you out with figuring out what does what and other stuff.

@@Muzart I had around 20 games before hacking, then I installed around 60 games.
      So that's around 80 games.
I installed a few of my physical games, but then I had to remove half of them to make room for the others.
Aside from the Pokémon games RBY GSC, I don't have any Virtual Console games. So bear that in mind.
I don't know if getting an SD card with more than 128GB is a good idea.
The console may not be able to handle such large amount of memory, which can cause it to lag.
I'd advise having 2 cards if you want to go over 128 GB.
The New 3DS XL is not good for having multiple cards though, since you have to remove the backplate by unscrewing, just in order to switch cards, and that is an hassle (trust me, I know).

You can easily copy the contents of the SD card in your PC to back it up. Of course, you'll need a new SD card for all the files and games, since the storage in the OG card is not nearly enough for what I remember) but you can copy the contents of the old original card that are in your PC to your new SD card. (iirc correctly, I did it after the friend code step in the guide, so that's my recommendation).

Man, I thought I was alone in kinda despising resellers. Every time I talk trash about them people love to jump to there defense, especially with the classic “that capitalism”. Do people not get that there are parts capitalism that suck? Anyways, anything I can do to discourage or not motivate resellers making Bezo’s even richer I am down with. Hack the planet.

I just wish that the prices for the 3DS console line would come back down to realistic prices. Almost all the other consumer electronics that were in shortage due to COVID have started to normalize in price now, and people are speaking with their wallets. The entire 3DS family is still stuck in 2020 prices though. Seeing good condition US models going for $300+ only 3 years after they were discontinued is just absurd. I've even seen some of the special models like the SNES themed N3DS XL go for literally $1000+. I just don't understand why people are still willing to pay that amount. It's insane.

I’ve already modded my 2DS and I’m planning to transfer my stuff I have on my 2DS onto my New 2DS XL and hack that, while also rehacking the original 2DS to give to my friend so he can play DS games without having the actual games. I love hacking, and yes, it’s easy to do.

So i have 2 questions and if any of you can answer them it would be great honestly: if i have games and stuff on physical format and i remove the sd that i currently use and buy a new one and THEN mod the 3ds will i loose all my data?
And if i remove the modded sd what will happen, will the 3ds go back to normal like before installing anything or what.
    Thanks

    • @SpawnTrapped
      @SpawnTrapped  2 ปีที่แล้ว

To retain all your data I recommend removing your sd card that came with the 3DS and copying it's data to a folder on your computer. Then buy a new SD card and copy those files from the old card to the new card. Your 3DS will never know anything happened and you'll keep all your data.
Then if you mod the system and later remove the SD the system will still be modded, but various aspects won't work correctly since the data won't be accessible. The system will not be "unmodded" if you remove the SD though

yeah, you don't need anything from the eshop to mod your 3ds (there were methods before where you needed to) the current latest method for the latest firmware only needs you to put some .cia(s) into the SD card and etc

One more tip about homebrewing don't spread which sites you download CIA's to people who don't have a homebrew 3ds cause if it gets popular Nintendo will immediately shot it down no mercy you know Japanese don't condone this even though they're the ones forcing people to do this in the first place
