One other nice feature is adjustable clock speeds via the Luma3DS menu for games that were't meant to run with New 3DS/2DS clocks. A Link Between Worlds, for example, has way fewer frame drops when going along walls. Much smoother experience.
Things that I enjoy playing on my 3ds: PS1 games, modified DS games (newer super Mario bros, castlevania: dawn of sorrow definitive edition, ctgp nitro, etc.) Modified 3ds games (dragon quest 8 w/ the orchestra patch, majora’s mask 3D project restoration). Seriously, majora’s mask project restoration is a must have mod. I could keep going, but I don’t feel like it.
Well I hacked mine in 2021, but yes it was worth it. I now have one official piece of original hardware, that can play all the systems I enjoyed from the early days. One beautiful little package that can do everything, can't beat it.
there is literally no reason to not mod your 3ds the one thing they had left was the e shop and now it’s gone the 3ds is basically useless unless you mod it or have a ton of physical copies of games because u can’t buy them due to the fact the price has increased a lot
yep it's really easy to hack your 3DS or 2DS. I've hacked/modded my 2DS for like 2 years ago and i got most every emulation games i payed, mostly DS games on there. Now, I'm playing Pokemon Silver (VC) right now

The early models of the Switch can be jailbroken "easily" via a recovery mode accessed by holding a button and bridging two pins on a chip by sliding a little dongle in the empty ( from memory : ) right joycon slider. The little dongle costs pennies. The more recent models are, for now, very difficult to jailbreak, requiring a costum chip soldered onto the board. You need a speciap chip and experience modding console hardware. It's only a matter of time before newer models get jailbroken more easily. No system is impossible to jailbreak. Need I say, a jailbroken console should not be connected to the Internet, least you want Nintendo to try to run an update bricking it.
@@familhagaudir8561 seems like Nintendo is really clamping down this time around. Roms and emulators are getting took down left and right. So the capability of full jailbreaking in the solely software side idk seems. Not sure how active the homebrew community is.
If you have the chance to get the New models for a good price and plan to actually use it, the New line has better chips and can emulate SNES games very well too ( there is a 3DS-specific SNES emulator that is better optimized ).
As a PS Vita dude, I just bought a hacked 3ds xl to see what all the hype is about. My first impression of the console itself, is that it feels less powerful than a vita. The screen don't look to good. The 3ds games lineup is amazing. I love all Mario Brothers games.
I just got myself a used new 2DS XL cheap on the used market. Yeah, its not as premium as my New 3DS XL, but i want to keep that pristine to maybe play/ sell in 10 years. And i barely ever used the 3D feature
I want to buy a 3ds xl and a 2ds to hack them and make them feel some how more modern and you just confirmed me that it worth the time for hacking it and i mean modern like made it to look modern and feel modern
The original microSD card in those is very small, and a bigger SD card might need to get formated into the proper 2/3DS format. There are easy tutorials online. Just don't accidentally format your PC hard drive, hehehe.
