  • This video shows one of my favorite projects to knit when I test knitting machines. I like it because it involves knitting on a full bed, I can use several techniques (you will learn how to cast on, cast off, e-wrap cast-on, make a cord, knit mock-ribbing, fold the fabric, and create button holes).
While doing this project, you will also learn your machine with all its corks and habits. Yes, these machines can be temperamental. You will also learn which yarn will work on your machine and at what tension. And while doing all that exploration, you will create a wearable item!
This project can be done on any flatbed knitting machine without any swatches and calculations.
This cowl/neck warmer/hat/bonnet can be worn by kids, men (with big hair), and women. It is versatile.
Some steps are described for the Brother machine (using a long cast-on comb and the part buttons) but the instructions can be converted for Singer/Silver Reed/Studio and Toyota knitting machines (just find analogous levers and buttons in the instructions for you machine).
    Written instructions are here: thoughtsandkni...
