  • First time Trying Sizzling Sinigang! I made a quick trip up to the Top of Cebu restaurant here in Cebu City, Philippines. I wanted to get a good view of the city below as well as try out some new delicious Filipino dishes. I ordered sizzling sinigang, as well as an order of adobo flakes. With Rice of course! and a tropical shake, because hey I'm on an island after all.
    I then proceeded to Tops Lookout to check out the beautiful view of the city below, and managed to get my bell rung in the process.

    Hi Tater we haven't heard from you in a while; hope things are well. I was going to asked you if your in Cebu don't forget to have a Letchon. Lechon or roasted pig is a staple in almost every Filipino occasion. From birthdays to pasko (Christmas), the celebration will never be complete without lechon on the table. This Filipino dish is so popular that we have an entire province producing the best of the best lechon. And that’s no other than Cebu - the Lechon Capital of the Philippines! CnT Lechon and Rico’s Lechon good place to have it. Also don't forget to have some Cebu Mango. Cebu mangoes are sweet, fleshy and juicy. They are great eaten raw and on its own, but they may be used in desserts, drinks and processed as dried mangoes, mango nectar and mango juice. Cebu is so famous for its dried mango and processed mango-based products, which are exported to numerous countries around the world.

    Wow...you have outdone most of the vloggers you rented a car. It must’ve been expensive! That resto looks like it’s spacious with an amazing view ❤️ Those dishes look delicious (masarap). Sizzling sinigang and Adobo flakes never had them before. Slowly but surely glad to see there’s more subs and viewers. Take care Tater 😇

    I like Tater's vlogs, he's a funny guy, he's maybe fun to be with. In his vlog aboard the ferry boat going to Cebu, you can tell he doesn't like something or that things didn't go as planned, but he never complains too much; instead, he incorporates humor into his subtle criticisms. He's always talking. He never runs out of words. Maybe the only time he's not talking is when he's asleep. Tater, you look after yourself!

    Got the chance to visit the place when my sister vacayed from LA, and got stuck in Cebu all throughout the lockdown. Great view, great food. Prior to dining in Top of Cebu resto, we had the chance to visit Bulakan ni Alejandria, Temple of Leah and other spots. This was a great pit stop before heading on back to the ciudad ( city ), stayed in Avida Tower 1 at IT Park , right in front of Sugbo Mercado. Thanks, Tater, for the chills of nostalgia. Keep safe. ♥️👊

    Nice :) Glad you rented a car this time. And it's nicer to drive in that kind of place too. No traffic and great views.
    The views at Tops is amazing. Must look great too at night with all the city lights on.
    I haven't tried Sizzling Sinigang yet. You said it wasn't that sour? Well if it isn't, then i think it's far from the real Sinigang. Coz it's the sourness that makes Sinigang Sinigang. But as long as you liked it, that's good enough :)
    Adobo flakes is also a recent invention i think. Haven't tried it yet either. But i believe there are some who sell it in jars. So you can maybe take some back to the US if you want. :)

      Cebu City can look amazing at night both from the mountain and from the sea (as viewed from either an ocean-going vessel or driving through CCLEX. When viewed from the ocean (or from CCLEX bridge), Cebu City glitters from down below to the mountains. The mountains of Cebu City glitters like wonderland and when viewed from the top of the mountains, the city also looks amazing as lights flood as far as your eyes can see.

      No it was certainly sour!
      What I meant was, alot of people will warn me before I try stuff "it's very spicy!" Or "watch out it's sour", but that is usually a false warning. I'll try it and it won't be spicy at all lol.
      But this lady told me it would be sour and it actually was! So nice surprise there

    • @moondustgirl2132
      @moondustgirl2132 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tatertravels Oh okay. Good that you liked the sourness of it. The difference i guess is that traditional Sinigang is soupy and not like gravy. So it's also nice to sip on it from time to time as you're eating it with rice. :)

  • @athenagranados8384
    @athenagranados8384 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Trust me! Sinigang isn't Filipino sinigang if you don't use pork belly with kangkong, the leafy vegetable that goes it. There are versions of sinigang depending on the kind of natural souring ingredient you use for it. In Laguna where I live we often use tamarind as a "pang-asim" or the secret ingredient that that gives it that classic sour taste. And we use a bit of jalapeño to give it a kick. A steaming bowl costs only about 100 pesos tops in small eateries.
    The pandemic has somehow given the local food business the boost it badly needs and it gave us locals a tough competition for what to me is the most ingenious way to prepare traditional food recipes enough to catapult them to international fame. As a Filipina I appreciate the kind of exposure the country's getting from your vlogs.
    You're spot on with that observation regarding our fertile soil which nurtures every fruit tree grown here. And our local spices are simply to die for. (I see you loved our garlic rice.) Cebu is our country's mango capital and its dried mangoes sold in packets are simply the best in the world. You should've packed one bag to sustain you in your next trip. Thanks for keeping us in mind for your travel vlogs!

    Next time just go to Las Vegas, LA or San Diego. They have all the Filipino Foods there too. My hat's off to you if you can drive there. I guess the Bataan Death March reenactment won't happen after all. Better to eat at a place where they can give you a date with a local lass.

    Also if you're gonna try Lechon, make sure you do it right.
    Go to "House of Lechon" in the heart of the city, can't go wrong there. Eat it with Garlic rice + sisig, with the spicy dip it comes with.
