My Dad was aggravated by my playing guitar for years , and then came a time when I would be playing guitar and singing and he would say play "Heart of Gold". I miss him very much , and I played this video tonight (new years eve 2010) for my Dad. ..............................
I remember sitting next to my best friend while Neil played this, we both had tears in our eyes. He has the kind of presence that is very unique. His talent is amazing.
This song is bart of my life ❤.I have been in Asia and I've been in Europe in search of a head of gold, finally I got someone and soon I'll ask her for a coffee, wish me luck.
My uncle played guitar in bands for fifty years. Got to sing Neil Young songs with him 2 weeks before he died of excruciating brain cancer. Didn’t know it at the time but it’s a cherished memory.
This Song Reminds Me Of My Good Friend James of 31 years This Spring!!! He Would Talk of This Song And Mentioned That Its Very Rare To Find & To Meet People *With a Heart ❤️ of Gold * Thanks Mr Neil Young ***‼️🎼🎹☮️‼️🎼🎹🎼🎹🎼🎹🎼‼️☮️❤️‼️‼️
I want to live, I want to give I've been a miner for a heart of gold. It's these expressions I never give That keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. It keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. I've been to Hollywood I've been to redwood I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold I've been in my mind, it's such a fine line That keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. It keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. You keep me searching for a heart of gold I've been a miner for a heart of gold. And I'm getting old.
Me and a couple friends bought a Neil Young box set after a good friend of ours passed away back in the mid nineties!! Listened to it over and over for days!! Yake!
I love this song, and a big fan of Neil young and all he did for our farmers as my family were dairy farmers. Sadly the biggest farmland owner today is Bill Gates, at 72 it’s hard to to comprehend this..
One of the first I have learned on the guitar ! Neil is always a great guitarist and singer! The texts are all that I love ,I and I try to live my life in this way!!
I just wanted to say that I love Neil's "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold". Those two songs will forever remind me of my mom, Frances D.Goldsworthy, who died from cancer on January 4, 2015. They were her favorite songs, and my son, Mark Jr., would play them on guitar for her this past summer, as we sat outside in the sun. It was a bright spot for her as she suffered in pain from the cancer. We actually wanted to mention this in our mom's obit, but found out later that there was not enough money left for us to even publish an obit in the newspaper:(
Funny enough his voice isn't the greatest, traditionally speaking, but the mere fact that he writes his songs, plays them, and harmonica/vocals. He's a gem. there's just something about him that screams star. He's gained his respect. Very much 1 of my idols, and the reason I play harmonica
Isn't it AMAZING what 3 men and a mission accomplished without Politics skimming the cream off of everything but its true intention, TO HELP OUR FARMERS IN NEED, Success by music and caring, Gotta Luv This Stuff !!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!
Why are so many people today making everything so difficult for those on a spiritual journey? Keep it simple, stay positive, try your best to stay healthy. Man media sure is trying to make this difficult sometimes.
Neil Young and his music have had a profoundly positive influence on my life, especially musiically! I just wish he and his art lives forever, I wish I could meet him personally and express this to him.
i was struggling to learn how to play the guitar when my father told me that i should learn the basics of heart of gold. of course, it was never easy- i don't think i quite learned how to play it. but i was glad he introduced me to a great song, and to neil young for that matter. that was 13 years back. my father died seven years ago.. i remember him every time i listen to this song. brings out good old memories. :)
i have tickets for farm aid next week in hershey...ever since i was 7 years old i have loved neil young. its crazy i got a guitar for my 7th birthday, and this was the first song i learned, now i have the opportunity to see neil and an assortment of other legends live..thank god for this music

The opening riff will grab you and the rest is a blessing. He found his place in my heart a long time ago. I did not discover him till I was in my 30"s love it.
The first song I learned from my daddy on the guitar. I was born in '78. Heart of Gold, Needle and the Damage Done, and and my #1 favorite song of all time, Comes a Time... Thank-you Mr. Young. You helped a struggling 9/11 Vet through her toughest times with your songs. You'll never be replicated nor forgotten ❤
in my media collection, included is an audition tape that I submitted to a then local2me broadcast station. One of the quotes I included on the back of the cover, was ... Neil young: "I can stop looking, because I've finally found the heart of gold I had always been searching for."

I remember having the single of this song on a 45 rpm and playing it over and over. Can't remember if it was the 1st Neil Young song I knew. I like the original studio version better than this performance which is good but not my favorite.

A song that is half a century old and still fascinates its lovers. amazing !!!!!!!!!!!
I am from Taiwan and I wish I have the privilege to listen to his singing this song live.
No complicated soloing...no intricate music..just a guitar, harmonica and a straight-forward song!

All the singers who can't sing too well but sing regardless showcase a lot of passion and I think that's more beautiful than talent.
