I grew up a HUGE hip hop fan and a fan of hip hop only. A coworker of mine played this song while working and I couldn’t explain how it made me feel but I was all for it lol. Good music is everywhere.
Neil Young is one of my favorite.... Hey Hey My My.... true story, in 1990, I was mowing grass and it was so hot I decided to cut the lawn mower off I had this boombox, I couldn't pick up no stations so I just flipped it, I heard this beautiful voice say hey hey My My, thank you Mr Neil Young for your brilliance
I've been called an "old soul." I was born in 1990...and I think this song is so powerful. The lyrics seem simple basic and simple, but when you think of them, it hurts. So damn good.
Adam Cook i totally feel you! i’ve been called an “old soul” too. i was born in 2001 lol, but i was raised with parents who appreciated talent like this. this song is very powerful. “it’s better to burn out than fade away.”
@@aimeegreenfield8271 and Adam Cook - rock on with the legend!
That old soul is a blessing. You will be able to feel all the colors, flavors and beauty.
Me!! The salvadorean who become from the USA. Love the culture the music and the food!. And all the friends o have made since I was 13. God bless the USA for opening the door to me.
Neil will not fade away or burn out, hey hey, my my. His music is here to stay
“Out of the blue and into the black. They give you this but you pay for that” a great way to talk about death. Thanks Neil young your the greatest
At this event he could have sang “Out of the RED and into the black”.
This is soo good. Truly talented musician. They dont make them like this no more
I’m getting there don’t worry (rock and roll can never die)
The last time my best friend and I spoke this song was playing in the back round…. We promised not to let one another live this life without each other…… almost a year to the date he was killed in a car accident by a head in drunk driver….. this song means a lot to me 😢😢😢
God we NEED this SPIRIT of COMMUNITY AGAIN! I miss those days so much.
Now half or maybe more of this crowd vote for a fascist idiot.

"It's better to burn out than to fade away". The greatness of this song is that every time I listen to it, it's a different one of the lines the one that hits me harder. Today it was that one. Although all of them hit hard and deep. Awesome song, awesome musician and awesome performance. Thank you so much, this is an historic video. Rock and roll will never die, we won't allow it
Specially after references to Elvis and Johnny Rotten, 10 years later this line would become a unintentional reference to Kurt Cobain since he says this on his suicide note.
@@goestdummy as a Gen Xer I feel the sadness of this song so deeply - rumor is that Cobain’s reference to it in his note deeply upset Neil. He said that Kurt reminded him of his bandmate who inspired the “Needle and the Damage Done” - and they have an uncanny resemblance to each other.
was there in memorial stadium as a little kid. loved it. opened my eyes and ears to so much out of the norm. the backstage pass didn't hurt.
No phones no selfies . All the audience are there with him eye to eye .......those were the days. When people used to see with their own eyes ...hey hey my my .......
“It’s better to burn out than to fade away.”

Hey hey my my... Neil Young is "The Guy!" I've been listening to this song since the 8th grade and it's just as powerful today as it was 40 years ago. Such a great generation for music!
