- Breath of the Wild is back! Had a big realization recently that my previous switch was loading the game super slowly so I started using a different one and immediately saw a big improvement to my times. I've also started doing some new strats like the cliff windbomb after stasis so expect some even faster runs soon.

facts
To be honest, the botw is overall easier to pull off. Totk seems way more technical and strict (intro skip is a way more specific route, precise movementt/jumps, and longer for example).
@@ShadowSkyX I think that is at least partially because BOTW has been out since 2017, so there has been more time to find tricks and optimize the route. As TOTK gets older I bet it'll have a similar evolution

You're right.The glitches are way better and the Gameplay ist better too in my opinion.
snappier menuing and less forced waiting certainly helps (and actually fighting the bosses rather than just onecycling/skipping them)
I maintain that botw is one of the most entertaining speedruns to watch. The glitches are entertaining and there's no long waits or overly complicated menuing.

Congrats! Why was the previous switch slower?
I didn't realize until after, but I had the game installed on the SD card instead of system memory which is very likely the reason. There can also be differences in performance between consoles but it's probably not the main cause (the other switch was the launch version so I thought it might be running slow because of old hardware). I'll be testing different configurations to see how loads compare.

Apparently this whole time I've been running on a switch that had the game installed on the SD card instead of system memory. So maybe the switch itself isn't slow but reading off of SD card is. I'll be running some tests to see, but I think all of my old pbs probably lost time to loads :(

With new strats possibly, the question is there will ever be new faster strats in this game?
Not currently
There's a best theoretical time project for BotW that's a spliced together video of the fastest strats (no matter how consistent they are) and the latest release of it is a 21:20 but it's not very realistic (it's more like a TAS). For strats that are currently used in runs the community sum of best is somewhere around a 22:50 which means if someone could play perfectly the whole time with perfect RNG then it could be done. Right now I'd expect people to only get to a 23:1X at best.
Why is the text in French, is the text faster or shorter ?
French is the fastest language for this speedrun (any%) due to the cutscenes. Other languages are faster for other runs in BOTW. And they use Russian for TOTK for example

Hi, could anyone explain what "switching switches" did? Thanks in advance.
It made the game load faster, so stuff like entering and exiting shrines or the times the game would freeze mid BLSS I was saving a fractions of a second. It might not have been the switch itself that was causing slow loads because I had the game installed on the SD card instead of directly on system memory but I'll be doing tests to confirm that.
