fun fact: grass, peanut butter, and shellfish are 3 of the most common things for people to be allergic to, Bluebird was definitely hoping Steven would have an allergic reaction

I remember this thing where anytime someone fuses with Garnet that fusion breaks the 4th wall... something about Sapphire's future vision being compounded with every additional fusion. There was an official steven universe podcast that the Crewniverse put out before Future aired so you can listen to it all without fear of spoiling the last episodes.
Eyeball is the Ruby that Steven was stranded with in space, not the one who stole the rubyship back. She tried to kill him and also attempted to cut out his gem, which was another instance of foreshadowing for the finale of SU, Steven asked "what would even happen to me?" then.
Also notice the gems who have the problems with Steven are the ones who had power and/or glory in the old regime. We saw it with Holly Blue in Rosebuds and now with Aquamarine and Eyeball. And of course Jasper.

One thought regarding Bluebird, if they WERE honestly there to be better, what Steven doesn't get yet is that he can have boundaries. He could be happy for them to be there, AND say "I'm sorry but I can't work with you directly, and need you to stay away from me", and potentially requiring someone to leave if they refuse to respect things.
Agreed this episode really highlighted his impulsive need to deal with/help people directly

I don't know if this helps, but it takes me about five years to grow hair from a short cut to the point that I'm sitting on it. If Greg wants the hair back, he can get there.
Gem facts! Blue azurite sometimes forms with red cuprite deposits, hence the red and blue combo known as Bluebird Azurite. Azurite also commonly forms with another copper mineral that we've seen before - Malachite - the only other anger-based fusion we've seen.
Ruby and Sapphire don't have British accents but Garnet does - and then Sunstone and Alexandrite don't despite having Garnet in them. I guess that just happens sometimes with fusions?
I think a lot of people find 'a very special episode' a filler. Personally, I find it fun, and I think the main purpose was really just to give more screen time to rainbow and sunstone, since we only barely saw them on the last ep.
It also reminds me of how Pearl and Amethyst spoke on how fusing with Garnet was so fun and fulfilling, and now Steven has become that for Pearl and Garnet although in a healthier way.

Where does the British accent come from? Why Rainbow of course!! Remember fusions are more than the sum of their parts(think like multiplication rather than addition). Think of the know your fusion episode where sardonyx explains that fusions get something new and interesting based on a combination of the two people. For reference, Garnet has a British accent but neither Ruby or sapphire does
I remember I was legitimately almost brought to tears when Greg cut his hair, it's something I never thought I'd see and it really got to me for some reason.

You guys should listen to the official steven universe podcast. U can learn so much about the show and the actors and the team that made it. They confirm that garnet fusions can break the fourth wall to some degree do to sapphire's future vision
