COVID-19 Can you give me an update from where you are in the world... 1. What country you are in 2. What supplies the shops have run out of 3. What restrictions you've currently got there to help contain covid-19 4.Do you/anyone you know have the virus and if so are you/they OK?
Fo us it's 1.Australia of course 2.Shops are out of toilet paper, tissues, paper towel, hand sanitiser, flour, rice, sugar, pasta, chicken, limited meat, canned goods and sanitary supplies. Hospitals are short on test kits for covid-19 3. School are still open but there are no gatherings over 100 people indoors or 500 outdoors, international travel is banned and any Aussies returning home have to self isolate for 14 days 4.thankfully no.
My nan is going into self isolation. I won’t be able to see her for a while as well as my pop and Aunty. It sucks

I don’t have school for a month, and my mom is in self isolation because she cam from Turkish and it’s a bit hard to her. And I know my old friend from school she told me she got it and she’s okay.. I like how they say the microwave meringues "impress without the stress", when actually making the meringue batter is the harder part vs baking it 🤷♀️
Meringues are one of the easier desserts to make IMO. The ingredients are few and basic. I forced myself to learn how to make them after I realized the insane mark-up I was paying for such a simple recipe.

I have watched this video so many times, and I have the same thought every single time.
Dave needs his own series. Like a news series. He’s clearly good at the research side, he’s clear and knowledgeable with just enough required sarcasm to make it fun to watch without being mean or taking away from the point.
We can have Ann’s baking, cooking, debunking and experiments, keeping as all informed on the science and keeping us safe, and Dave can give us the news in a nice, fun, easily digestible format!

My daughter before she started actually cooking would make brownie in a mug often. They always turned out great. But my daughter likes physics and science so she knew to add baking powder. We watch ant man when It first came out and couldn't get through it without my daughter giving everyone a physics lesson. She just wanted to make sure we knew that this is impossible and this is why.
You daughter sounds adorable and very smart. Good on you for encouraging her passions! Seeing more and more parents like you gives me a lot of hope for the children.

I'm a trained historian (I have a degree but do not currently work as one) and so many hìstory channels are terrible, often corporate ones. They are terrible for different reasons. Some are ideological, others are just AI generated, others just shoddy pop history etc.

Why 5-minute craps isn't banned yet? It's a Russian channel. It's part of the conglomerate behind hundreds of absolute garbage channels.
Also, if you look at the comments under their videos. It's just a bunch of bots spamming absolute garbage. Like this, for example:
"Hey, you ! I want you to get up and take a little step 🚶🏽. I know I may feel impossible, I need you to work hard, trust the process, and have faith"
"I really just love it when I get a notification saying "Someone has liked your comment!" or "Someone subscribed!" Makes my day!!!"

So they just have bots making new bots, subscribing to their useless channel and making money.

What I was wondering was if their way of peeling the sweet potato works. They just scored it a bit, boiled/steamed them, and then the skin came right off, with none left behind.
So it looks like they're faking blanching them, and while I've never done it w/ sweet potatoes I've done it w/ tomatoes and peaches. What you do is put the veggies in boiling water for a short time and then plunge them immediately into ice water to stop the cooking process, this allows you to pull the skins off really quickly and cleanly so I could see it working on sweet potatoes but you wouldn't get a super smooth potato it's look more like Anne's- a bit smushy around the edges
I'd love to have an entire channel just of dave talking about this stuff honestly.
Ann is like a de-bunking Dora the Explorer. "Can you see what's wrong? Use your critical thinking skills! Let's take a look and figure it out together." Love her!

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for helping out people by telling them the truth! I actually used to watch five min crafts, and I’m really glad I was too lazy to try the hacks. After I watched these debunking videos I unsubscribed from 5 min crafts, oh and Dave, thanks for being a good sport! And Ann your such a good cook and baker!

It's so bizarre that something as simple as putting the meringue in the oven fixes the whole recipe, but they only use microwaves in their videos because there's a perception of being easy.

Regarding the first one: that kind of mug brownie is a pretty common thing, there are tons of recipes like it. Dave might not like it, but I think they are delicious!
You just have to not be expecting a light, spongy cake; if anything it's more like a flourless chocolate cake. They are rich and dense, and you probably don't want to eat a huge mug full like that.

We use an exacto knife or a pen instead in the middle and spiral it open. we do share but never pass it around but just leaving it on the coffee table for us to get some. Actually the meringues in microwave are working, just slightly different. You have to let them in for about 2min (if i remember right) and they rise big time..looking like clouds ;) however it is a lot of work :p

You're even honest enough to show the learning process you go through when trying to figure out how to do something you've never tried before. You show when it hasn't gone quite right, and the steps you take to correct that in order to produce the required result! More channels could benefit from following your example in producing honest content.
