LARGEST RC PLANE DUBAI (55% YAK)

- Today on the 23rd August 2011 6am, Dubai skies were witness to the largest RC airplane in the middle east. Today was the test flight of this 55% YAK. This ARF comes from PILOT RC, and was built by UAE's most seasoned aeromodeller Mr. Buti Swaidan.
Mr. Buti Swaidan test flew this first of its kind and size bird in the region. The airplane has a ZDZ 400CC engine, it had full redundancy systems, MKS servos, and Mr. Buti masterfully did many modifications to the airplane, and its engine.
The entire RC community of UAE is extremely proud of this endeavor. This is our little tribute to the RC communities around the world. With limited sources and self taught skill we have come this far. It was a truly proud moment for all of us in the UAE.

The music is intrusive and superfluous for this type of video ... it adds NOTHING. Wonderful model, shame we couldn't hear the engine properly.

IMHO such a video does not need any extra sound in the background the picture and the sound of the engine

400 cc engine! this is more of a remotely piloted vehicle aka drone, than what we usually thing of in rc. even in giant scale rc. great job and thanks for the post.

WTF? This plane was not built with LIMITED RESOURCES. And as for self taught? Aren't we all? Nobody TEACHES you how to RC, this is a personal hobby for everyone.
The plane was made in china, the engine is from Czech Republic and no doubt the electronics are from Japan. It was assembled by an individual in UAE. What has this got to do with the pride of UAE?

music very confounding. it was like a traffic jam, then i see all the power-lines, buildings, and confusion and it all makes sense.
That plane looked like it was built perfect! I was suprised how fast the control surfaces moved!!! Those are some fast servos!!!

Just because a lot of people say it wrong doesn't mean that's the way we say it. People just don't think about the words they are saying. The saying is "couldn't care less" whether you are American, or not.

Camera was out of focus 99% of the time. Try "Auto" mode next time. Nice plane... but the music had to turned off for me.

Biggest YAK I ever saw. I wouldn't do it, "but what a ride it would be for the family pet"! I, personally, wanted to climb on-board.

Check out the Cri Cri, it's probably a little bit smaller but takes an normal sized adult pilot and will stand up for acro flying(6G, -3G).
My uncle has a 50% plane and he does some pretty sweet stunts with it :)

Did they sell any big radio controlled airplanes where he got that one? Kidding. It looks like it flies just like my 37.5% Yak. That engine sounds way better than my 150. If you drop both ailerons to 65% down, like flaps, it'll slow to walking speed on landing! Nice plane, great 1st flight.

That thing can carry a 25lb bomb and twin recoilless rifles.
Recoil would slow it down and stall it.
Even tiny battery powered toy RCs come equipped with
water guns and spring-loaded plastic darts.

You guys should put in a camera for the aerial view of Dubai !! if he can afford for such big aircraft why not get an HD camera up there too and HUD glasses would be great !

Fabulous, amazing! My RC club has a couple of guys who fly giant "Beasts" from Hangar 9 and they are very impressive in the air - almost a slow motion ballet somewhat similar to this plane. Yours must be very light weight with good power. Looks quite real. Great accomplishment!

Brave man test flying that so low. If that was my initial on a bird that big and expensive, i would be a mistake or two high for the first flight, in case anything in the build failed. No go around at these heights......very brave. But WELL DONE SIR !!! Most impressive aircraft. And to the music hater's.....ever hear the word MUTE ?
Bite My Krank very expensive for us. But I think for guys living in dubai this is just a cheap toy. I just finished my second hand krill extra 41. But compared to this its a umx model haha

Actually, the Predator drone is almost always satellite controlled (when it has no LOS to command center) which won't strictly qualify it as RC. :)

Not the largest in the world, as I've seen both a 75% and 80% RC airplane. Either way, damn nice airplane, no arguments there! And Pilot makes some very nice stuff. Kudos to the builder/pilot!
