  • BEST COMPILATION of BAD (and CRASH) RC LANDINGS #1
    If you fly RC a lot it's inevitable. Even the best pilots have a bad day once in a while. Could be your engine cuts mid-flight, or your retractable landing gear won't deploy or a gust of wind catches you out. These are skilled pilots. They just had a bad day at the office.
    Filmed at various RC shows around the UK by Dom Mitchell using the Panasonic AG-UX180 Pro 4K camcorder.

    Thanks for the great video. Lovely planes in action. Shame about the crashes and damage but that is all part of RC and well done to the guys for doing it. The people making negative comments have no idea how much stress many of the pilots are under: unfamiliar location, spectators watching, high winds, noise and other planes and pilots all around, fixed time slots that have to be adhered to. It really is a lot harder than it seems.

  • @MacKaris
    @MacKaris 5 ปีที่แล้ว +474

    I can't believe how shockingly bad some of these landing attempts are... I mean accidents do happen and sometimes there is a technical malfunction etc, but you'd think that an RC pilot who's spent like 5000 quid on a superscale petrol engine warbird knows better than to just slam it on the deck like a complete moron or stall it 15 ft above the runway.

    • @GothaRsk
      @GothaRsk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@robd2184 It is about mentality. I used to fly RC planes and I always used engine timer (lot of RC transmitters have it). This way, I always had enough battery time for at least 3 landing attempts = I have never crashed during landing. If someone flies until the batteries are dead or is stubborn and do not repeat approach, it is their choice and their money wasted if they fail.

      pure lack of flying skills in 90% of the cases... Rookie error aftewr rookie error. A lot of them seem to be totally unable to judge their apporach speed for example, coming in at a speed that would be more appropriate for a low pass than a landing (BF-109 at the beginning and at least one of the spitfires in the last third) Some simply don't flare, or aren't able to do a stabilized approach and are overcorrecting with elevator all the time instead of using the throttle. Others are just stalling their planes on apporach or even before... It amazes me all the time, how many of those big-scale pilots are simply overburdened with flying their planes. Alle the money, but none of the (required) skills.

      Damn. One time i was driving my traxxas rustler at the park, a hobbygrade rc car and it uses the 2.4ghz thing. Some guy was flying one of those early DJI phantom drones, and every time my rustler went anywhere near it's area, it'd sop responding to the remote for about 7 seconds before it starts driving again. same time i'd notice the guy's drone wander off a bit and it looked like he panicked whenever it happened. i wonder if that interference thing is why it happened.

    Full size runway and they choose to takeoff and land on grass. LOL
    "Lean the wing into the wind" OR "Wing into the wind - Down" and most issues with all crosswind takeoffs and landings will be just a great fun experience rather than a headache of rebuilding a nice aeroplane............... ✈ ✈ ✈

      Yeah it does seem stupid isn't it to takeoff on grass while you still have perfectly build runway. Same stupidity on landing too. Thankgod the real pilots don't do that or what might happen everyday.

      It's to do with how the grass can help with braking (grass more friction), reduce the impact (grass is more squishable than concrete / tarmac)

    None of these were bad in my honest opinion. They were all great landings. At our flying field new individuals will come out with no prior experience and will fly jets for the first time. It's really sad to see, as for they don't ask for help, don't introduce themselves and just walk out to the field and do it. The field is open to all so we see this at least once a week. After crashing there is nothing that is salvageable for repair. They just jump in their car and drive off afterwards.

      Yea on this channel (which I presume is in Europe), I noticed a lot of these “crashes” are avoidable. I feel that these could’ve been avoided with more aeronautical understanding and if the pilots could get more time behind a trainer before they blow $4500 on a gas warbird that they will inevitably crash.

      At my RC club here in the States, we are required to have an AMA membership and FAA number on all our craft 250 grams or higher. We do occasionally open the club up to prospective new members but they can only fly with a club member present. AMA membership is for insurance in case you take someones head off..

But if you crash with someone just say your sorry and maybe ask to pay for their plane, but at the same time they are expensive and I would just walk away also not like it’s actually hurting anyone

    The worst thing about RC aircraft and drones is landing them or the risk of the engine stalling or something hitting it I had a drone in mid flight and in mid flight a bird almost hit it I caught it on the on board camera so you could see how close to the front right hand motor it was the tip of the wing just missed it literally
