I had recently installed a new master cylinder and somehow the float in the new one was not quite as big as the old one was. Pulling the cap off, and then turning the cap upside down turned the parking brake light off. So a new cap with float should fix the problem.
Thanks for the video cuz it helped me narrow down a very frustrating problem with a really simple test.

never even thought about break line fluid. i was under the impression that there was like a nipple or some that that would inject it into the lines 🤷‍♂️ never really thought about it but god damn now i’ve got 3 cars to check out. my mechanic probably was on it but i certainly had never checked any break fluid in 8 years in any car haha.

Bowy I've gotta try this,as I'm currently seeing this brake lamp light lit..
Gonna grab another filter/strainer and resourvor cap to see if it rectifies the problem..
    Thanks for this insight brethren..

Fixed my problem today, was a blown filament on the left side rear brakes..
Replaced with new bulb, and that solved my problem..

So, the cap resistance at "full" - I'm guessing should read infinite/open? I'm getting 31.4 ohms full, 7.3 ohms empty.

Lol, it was low brake fluid for mine. I'm such an idiot, over a month ago I did a big brake job on my 2000 honda accord, replaced basically the complete braking system outside the brake lines, emergency brake cable and connections, and ABS system. Of course after doing all that and finally getting a firm brake pedal (takes much patience to bleed brakes by yourself, especially when the job includes a new master) My stupid EM Brake dummy light was staying on. Sometimes it would it turn off, leaded me to believe I just needed to put a wrench to the cable adjustment and tweak it a bit. So off course I'm again getting the jack out and wrenching off tires and jack standing the recommended load baring locations, along with getting myself all dirty head to toe, cause that's how I roll.
That light is right next to the eternally illuminated SRS dummy light, they became good friends right away, getting me used to their glarey stare. It just so happened I had to get on utube to remind myself how to reset the maintenance light, and remembered this "issue". The brake fluid level is connected to the BRAKE idiot light, never would have guessed. Does that mean the SRS light is connected to a low pressure or deflated breast enhancement prosthetic?

I had a similar problem. I fixed the SRS light by a reset procedure described in the service manual (jumping service connector). I have Honda CR-v from 1999.

If your issue isn’t fixed yet, check the rotors and pads, if they’re good check your rear, if you have drums and shoes they might have wear you can’t see. To be sure pull the e brake, if it’s loose then they’re worn. If all that’s good and you still have issues check your brake fluid then brake lines. At least one of those should lead you to an answer

My dash brake light goes on and off during trips after I replaced the master cylinder. I think it's the wiring?
