  • Parking brake light won't go off: In this video, I troubleshoot and identify the cause of a parking brake light that stays on on a 2003 - 2007 Honda Accord 2.4L. The effect is that the brake light on dash stays on or said differently, the brake light on dash won't go off. The principle cuts across car makes and models.

    Shortly after some brake work my dash started to light up like a Christmas tree randomly. Thanks for the vid - my brake fluid was low. All the lights are off now. Life is good.

    Great vid started off with the obvious, but we who are not mechanics or don't dabble under the hood would not consider this obvious. This was my problem. As soon as I heard check the fluid level, I went straight out and did it and boy was it low. Immediately the light went out after I filled it to the max. I hope other tubers understand that what is obvious to you might not be obvious to the rest of us. Thank you so much.

    If you unplug the electrical connector on the master cylinder, and the brake light goes out, you can easily test the hand brake without having to take apart the console.

Please what else can I check to fix it? Again you mentioned parking brake sensor too, does it apply to Honda CRV too. If yes where can I locate it?

    U seem to be very knowledgeable about cars. I have a Honda Element w the same issue I will check the sensor as u said. Now do u know anything about abs sensors? I replaced all 4 abs sensors on my Element and the ABS light won't go off. Do you have any idea why?

      For the ABS issue, I would recommend you scan the car with a scanner that has ABS capability. The result will tell you what the issue is. Could be poor contacts, broken circuitry, a defective pump etc. You will have a pretty good picture once the scan is done. Feel free to reach out with scan results. Happy to help.

      You should test it to be absolutely sure. Could also be a broken parking brake switch. I tested the parking brake switch in the video.
      Sometimes, the brake fluid sensor is integrated into the brake master cylinder and you'll have to change the whole unit😡. This is the case in the 2003 - 2007 Accord.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG

      Since you have VSA and ABS on, you'd have to scan the car with a tool that has access to the ABS module. That would provide a line of action.

    My parking brake light on the dash stays on even if if engage or disengage it. I just checked it with the multimeter and it beeps even if I engage it or disengage it. Do you think the switch is the problem? The car is good on brake fluid

    • @boxer570

      If you checked the continuity well at the parking brake switch and its there engaged or not, I'd say its the switch. I hope the parking brake leave the switch free when it's depressed?

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think speed sensors will rather cause an ABS/VSC light or the like. I'm not certain of the brake light, except there are some manufacturers that include the brake light in the speed sensor circuit.
