I used to run the same setup as you (APR Downpipe with non-res Milltek Cat-back), however I now have switched to a catless 3.5in CTS Downpipe with the same cat-back and let me tell you the sound is amazing. You wouldn't expect much difference removing a high flow cat but its in my opinion the perfect balance of noise and comfort.
just did Ie high flow catted downpipes stage 2 high torque crackle tune. Welded on 3 inch 17950 Vibrant resonator instead of factory resonator to 3 inch downpipes and 2.5 inch factory piping and muffler delete. It sounds INCREDIBLE! I highly recommend this set up for anyone running with a catted downpipe. You get deep throaty sound with no nasty raspiness.
@@savagepandaprojects thanks to you i knew what sound I was going for. It’s a little less aggressive than the borla exhaust you had on, but very similar! Keep making great videos man👍🏼
I have the same borla exhaust as you. I recently just installed a downpipe and hate how loud my car is. I feel the same exact way as you do. Might try a resonator to quite down that beehive noise.
Wanna start off by saying that your videos have been very informative, entertaining, and essential in my decision of getting myself an A3. So thank you for everything. By any chance, do you know what the diameter is of the OEM cat back as compared to aftermarket exhausts? Is it 2.5 or 2.25 inches? I just wanna be able to gauge how much restriction there will be in flow after a 3 inch catless dp. Thanks in advance.
What's happening man! I really appreciate your support! So you are gonna be running a 3" downpipe with oem catback? Most downpipes will come with a reducer to accommodate the difference in pipe diameter. If you end up getting a 3" catback too then you can get a 3" adapter to connect the pipes. I hope that helps!
Still don’t know what to do with my A3. Don’t want to spend the money on a full exhaust system and think custom is the more reasonable way to go. Possibly a secondary cat delete and muffler delete, leaving the res. Thoughts?
up to you, custom is more expensive if you go to a fabricator that knows what they are doing. Watch out for quick hacks/chops at muffler shops. I would to try to catch a deal on a catback if you can.
2016 A3 here, currently have a muffler delete and pretty satisfied with the sound actually, better than I had anticipated. Now I want a louder, better quality sound, but want to keep the stock down pipes and cats, how do you think borla would sound with my setup? Or any other recommendations?
great question, sounds like a plan.. If you are 100% not changing the downpipe I think you could do the Borla. It is very aggressive just a heads up. Would not recommend Borla with a downpipe as rasp and drone will be unbearable.
You can't go wrong with Remus. The Golf R clip in this video had the Remus exhaust. Top notch quality. Very nice time Great for daily driving excellent customer service as well.
If you have the aftermarket downpipe with stock catback you could add a resonator delete. Good to stay catted. You want some sort of muffler back there to control rasp and drone.
Hey mate. S3 here. What are your thoughts/recommendations on a 3 inch DP (IE is my brand of choice) and simply keeping the stock cat back? Do you think it will inhibit potential performance gains a great deal?
Hey, great video buddy. There isn't a bunch of information or aftermarket products available for A3 owners and it seems its all about the S3/RS3 so this is really appreciated. I recently did a res delete on an MY17 A3 2.0 Quattro and it feels (and sounds) like it didn't make a difference and I thought I was missing something until I watched your vid. I am keen to see/hear more of your experience on the Miltek system you put in. Id also be interested to know if you have experience with Remus catback systems? Keep up the great work.
Hey Paul, thanks for checking out the videos! appreciate the support. Like I said in the video, resonator delete doesn't really help much on our cars lol Milltek is good quality but its still very quiet and sounds almost stock. I am just to the point where I don't see any reason to keep spending money on exhaust at this stage lol Remus is really good. Excellent brand. that golf R clip I put in there had a remus catback with oem downpipe. (non resonated sounded great!) Have fun with it man!
@@savagepandaprojects thanks for the feedback. Which golf R clip were you referring to? (I've seen so many I think I'm going crazy). I recently tried to find a Milltek non-res catback system to suit my car in Aus but would you believe they don't sell it locally!! I'm going to try and find a Remus model - wish me luck.

That's interesting! I wish this milltek has more Sound. I honestly think my own catback was louder. I just can't go catless man! Gotta stay legal lol

@@danielchernomaz2552 absolutely man! Borla was just too loud with the downpipe lol appreciate your support man 👍
@@savagepandaprojects I have to say it was a bit too loud😂. And of course keep grinding man!
Hey Daniel. Can you make a video of the sound?
Nice exhaust breakdown. Going for full 3'' soon as required for Stage 3.
Here is the beat setup have the 3 inch down pipe and just have a resonator you will get a very well sound
I’m running an AWE resonated DP, car came with an OEM res delete from factory. It’s perfect

Oh yeah it was absolutely awful! Had another subscriber run the same setup he added a resonator and it seemed to help

Now, does aftermarket exhaust void manufacturer warranty? For Audi that is. Nice video brother!! Love the IS38 in the A3!!
Thanks for checking put the video!! Aftermarket cat back you should be safe
@@savagepandaprojects thanks, another question do you know if the 2022 Audi A3 has a IS20?

That's totally fine! Catback is not required! Should be a nice setup 🙂
@@savagepandaprojects thanks for the feedback mate.
Do you happen to know of good sound clips of the Borla with the factory downpipe with and without a resonator?
I don't actually but the only way I could see anyone running this exhaust is with the factory downpipe. That would be fine.
