My father has been a mechanic for 40+ years. Getting customers to understand that maintenance is crucial and not just beneficial on VW cars has always been a struggle for him. Most notably, people opting not to change the timing belt on a 1.8t at 120k miles.
Great tips! After you do all this and before you tune the car I would recommend a carbon cleaning on the intake and adding a good oil catch can system. These direct injection cars can really build up a good amount of carbon deposits on the intake valves when running hard. Hope this helps.
I'm checking out a used 2018 Audi A3 2.0t tomorrow with only 9,000 miles. Probably going to buy the car. I'm excited to start my modding journey with this car and this video really helped me solidify my decision! Thanks for the great tips :D
First thing I did after going stage 1 was new plugs and catch can (along with intake and turbo inlet). NGK7’s. Got my car tuned at 49kish. Fun upgrades come after responsible upgrades. Haldex service was next on my list actually soon (in terms of services)
I had an 06 A4 and I did not take care of it. I drop it to 5miles left in the dash and neglected maintenance aside from Oil, Breaks and antifreeze. Deeply regret it because the car only lasted me just over 130k miles. I then got a new truck and realized that the problem was me and changed my ways with how to actually take care car. I’m looking to go back to Audis again since my career changed from construction to engineering.
All good points and I covered those on mine except different coil. One thing not mentioned and is of the utmost importance before doing a stage 1 tune, should you have a fairly new car. Make sure it has done a decent amount of km or miles for engine components to wear in and settle. I am talking about 20,000km at least.
Savage. This was the best video that made me book an appointment for spark plugs dsg and haldex maintenance and then apr stage 1 /93oct. Can't wait till next seek...
Old vid but i hope u can respond still- i was looking at a 2018 a3 quattro and i havent trst drove it yet but on the dealer website it says its got 91k miles. Is that too much? Should i consider spending more looking for one with lower miles?
Whats happening, yes you can certainly get well over 100k on the Gen 3 MQB motors when maintained correctly. They don't really have timing chain issues as the older one had like on the MK6 golfs etc. Would plan for a water pump as that is one of the most common failures. That would also be the appropriate time to do carbon clean as well. On an individual level myself I'd try to get lower mileage just to have a bit more peace of mind but that's just me. This car in video was eventually sold at 55k miles and had zero issues at the time. (was APR stage 3 IS38 turbo)
I have to agree with the other comments, great video. Just did the APR stage 1 high-torque ECU on my S3. Based on reviews I’ve read, I think I’m going to pass on the ignition coil packs. Seem to cause some headaches based on what I read. Spark plugs ordered because of this, and I have to do the services now after seeing this vid. I am on the fence about the TCU tune, but I am thinking that might need to happen.
We've installed plenty of APR ignition coils with zero issues. Main thing is running the correct gap on plugs. Definitely good move to get the tcu upgrade as well. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@savagepandaprojects TCU is a must in your book? And okay on the coil packs; just go with APR? The guy that did my tune said that my coils were replaced at some point because they were operating perfectly. But worth it to go APR? Last thing, cold air intake - also APR? They look cool. Just curious if there’s better options
@@MrCyaltrbye definitely need the tcu tune for high torque. Coils are optional totally up to you. The tune is totally worth it. Makes a world of a difference. Dm me on ig if you have any more questions or would like to order performance parts. Glad to help!

Hey man, love the videos. I am 16 years old and just got a 2015 Audi A3 2.0t Quattro. I know barley anything about these parts you are talking about. Could you help me on upgrading and what I should get?
I appreciate the response. So moving forward after being tuned the service intervals change to a sooner timeframe. I know oil changes are recommended every 5k miles, what about spark plugs and any other miscellaneous things? Just trying to keep the car as well maintained as possible.
Awesome video!!! If anyone is wondering, this is the channel to go to for the best informative A3/S3 content on youtube

Big thanks from new 18’ A3 owner.
Getting more familiar with maintenance before Stage 1 Tune! Thanks Again!

hey mate, looking at buying one soon, have you had any problems with it or anything to look for or be worried about? thanks 👍🏼
Ngk ruthenium plugs are excellent too :)
And porting throttle body helps too
Regarding the spark plugs... What if i have a diesel, which has glow plugs? Should i replace those? Or should i get new injectors?

They have me tuning @ apr stage 1 low torque. Since I don't have much.
I hope i can feel a difference
I just went Stage 2 ( about a week before it was gone) did the DSG flush, coil packs and RS7 plugs, next up is the Haldex pump for sure! Great Video

RS7 Plugs, APR coils, stage 1 tune. Lowering springs/ coilovers + catback exhaust 🙂
Your info is a god send. I'm definitely going 5k changes. What are your thoughts on Ravenol oil sir?
Really glad to hear its been helpful! I can't say I have ever used that oil actually.

How do you solve this problem?

Thanks for checking out the videos. Check out my top 5 mod list for $500 video I did a while back
Can we just get this in writing please?
Do you add an extra quality oil cooler to the DSG?
No, not on this particular build
I did my heldex and dsg service at 30k. Am sitting at 52k miles now looking to go stage 1 soon. Should I service both again before or am I all set?
Not urgent but you could do the haldex and dsg at 60k if you wanted. 😉

That should be gen 2 ea888 same as MK6
I have a 2015 Audi A3 2.0 S line prestige package. It’s stock and I want to make more power what’s the best mods to pick up some power?
Definitely stage 1 tune!
When would you recommend your first DSG fluid change I bought a TTRS and now it has 5000 miles on it how far should I go before I change it?
If it’s a car you’re keeping I’d do it at 30k miles myself as I did with my RSQ3 recently... Easy enough to do too
40k mi.
The battery box looks good how many hp? 🙄
Thanks dude! It's a nice touch! +5hp at least!
Thank you
Where can I get those racing spark plugs?
They are very expensive and hard to find! Lots of distributors sold out right now!
Fam add some spice and you’ll be at a milli subs in no time

How should I gap the Ngk rs7 spark plugs on a 2016 Audi a3 Quattro custom stage 1 tune???
If it's a custom tune I would suggest checking with your tuner. Thanks
S3 , 7 speed s-tronic how often would you service this? Audi recommends 120,000km lol
every 5-7k miles
nickeyb50 you service the transmission every 5-7 ? Or oil change ? I was referring to the transmission oil
Lee S Oh my bad i was talking about engine oil, i service my DSG every 20k even though audi recommends 30k.
Does this go for 2016 Audi A6 2.0T as well?
