    Isn't it quite hilarious in hindsight how so many were bashing Latvia for barely scraping into the Grand Final and "stealing" some other country's place whereas Latvia was 7th in the televote in the Semi and Norway was the one scraping in 😅✌️ By the way, absolutely loved Norway and happy they got in but it just shows that sometimes bookmakers and our "narrow" thinking of Eurofans, about what the average viewer might like, do not always fit.

      Isaak has an amazing voice, he's clearly talented, it was a good song. Staging wasn't my favorite; he had this entire video led screen at his disposal and didn't make use of it... and what did it symbolize ? Him sitting in a chair...
      If he's "on the run" then maybe he should ACTUALLY be running, no ? 🤔
      Sometimes people don't vote for your country because mostly you send boring songs 🙄 and maybe last year people thought LOTL was a joke entry just like Jendrik, so they didn't vote for it, I guess ? 🤷‍♀️ (I voted for them 4 x)

      The juries didn't "undermine" anything.
      The juries just reflected the tastes of their C-Suite Music-Industry-Corporate Masters, who go for whatever makes them see💰🤑.
      If we went by just the televote, or if the televote was announced via individual points at the beginning, you'd all be complaining about how political the televote was and how good musicians were constantly trashed due to politics.
      Look, this was a *_strong_* year, with lots of Excellent Musicians from across many different genres. 4 songs from this year I will be playing well into the future, and that includes BabyLasagna and Nemo.
      Personally, I want the current juries replaced with past contestants [let's say, from no earlier than 2 years prior], with a very rigid set of scoring criteria by which they assign points.
      I also want the EBU to start _requiring_ every national broadcaster to display captions of the lyrics _in the broadcasters' native language_ during the performance. That will level the playing field when it comes to acts in their own language.

      It would be bad if one jury diverted the public vote but this time it was different. Outstanding and decisive amount of juries voted for Switzerland and trust me, I'm also music professional and I knew this song is going to win 100%. How smoothly they went for at least 5 absolutely different genres yet they achieved one big assembled, complete and the most original piece Eurovision ever had. It never happened to me before that I knew the future winner for sure.

    • @nebelland8355
      @nebelland8355 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @username_creates6991 No, LGBTQ is not the secret to gain jury votes. You definitely don’t need to belong to that community to get public votes (could be an obstacle for some people).
      The jurys are professionals from the music industry and they evaluate the musical qualities and as some of them are from radio stations, maybe also the radiofriendlieness. Switzerlands song was musically more challenging than the Croatian one. The range of Nemos voice is definitely bigger than Marcos….and so on.
      That doesn’t mean a wide range alone helps (last year you guys sent a group with an amazing range and a really weird song…. I 😊).
      I loved Croatias song choice this year, but I feared from the beginning that it would not get so many jury points, because the musical arrangement is not so challenging. If Marco would be homosexual or whatever, it still would not make a difference.

    • @John_Weiss
      @John_Weiss หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The jury didn't "snatch the winner."
      The juries have *_ALWAYS_* played a role in who wins. We're just seeing what that role is by _how the scores are announced._ If the EBU flipped how scoring was announced, having each country give the televote-details and then do a in-reverse-order reveal of jury totals, people would be complaining that the "televote is corrupt!" when their favorite act didn't win.

      Yes, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Norway, and San Marino too. 0 points. Georgia gave 1 point, Czechia 2, France 2, Albania 3. I just wonder what are the juries (composed of professionals at least in theory) taking into account? Is it only technical ability of the voice? Composition? Catchiness? Staging? Interaction with audience and performative qualities? Charisma? What is it? Its like juries are on a level of primary musical school and listening to voice only. Eurovision is a competition of performances, not only voices. 0 points is just ridiculous when his performance is compared to other performances. A big shame. But in the end, maybe Croatia dodged a bullet by not hosting next year. I’m just sorry for many countries not being able to afford participating in Switzerland.
      And also, Croatian jury not giving any points to Switzerland was a dick move and I’m sure BL would never support that choice. I understand that they were scared that this will happen but still, they had the duty to vote at least partially fair.

    The fact that Baby Lasagna "only" came third in the jury vote is fine. So Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Norway, and San Marino gave 0 points to Croatia. Eurovision is a competition of performances which include a full package, not only voices. 0 points is just ridiculous when his performance is compared to the rest of them. A big shame. But in the end, seeing all the drama - maybe Croatia dodged a bullet by not hosting next year. I’m just sorry for many countries not being able to afford participating in Switzerland.
    And also, Croatian jury not giving any points to Switzerland was a dick move and I’m sure BL would never support that choice. I understand that they were scared that exactly this will happen but still, they had the duty to vote at least partially fair.
    If BL got 7 points on average from each jury, that would be a sure win, and that would be fair. Did they even watch the show? I’m soooo gutted. 😢

      The whole issue about the hosting ability after having won the contest I must inform you is a pure urban legend and it's really the least interesting dimension of the matter a juror can estimate to reach a final draw, Jurors mostly come to a final decision after judging a song from its overall impression to them and how it is able to influence their personal sentimental status (using musical or unfo non musical criteria). Ireland''s song for example was in fact anon song and highly repulsive, so painful to watch that I can sustain jurors' intention to place it last. I know it'd be my 26th place.

    I was also surprised that we (Slovenia) didnt give Croatia 12 points. But we dont give it every year. Alot of time we give it to Italy (they are also our neighbours). But this year it went to France. If you ask me well deserved. But I am sad for Italy. She was so good! 7 place is not desrved at all. Top 5 for her

    Sweden, Ukraine and Germany (starting numbers 1-3) all getting top 12 placements tells me there is something to this open vote system, and that reverse qiuck reviews were a great addition. If we see this effect next year as well I would say it will dampen the dread of the "death spots" significantly.

    There will always be someone who is dissapointed or even angry about the results, but this year (as opposed to last year) I can totally get why the jury voted one song so high. Switzerlands performance was outstanding, daring and very difficult. The song itself is very unique and creative in combining so many different genres. And that is exactly what the jury is for: to vote for creativity and musical quality.
    Of course this does not mean that a quality song will be liked by the public. And while Baby Lasagna is the first in televote, he is not the CLEAR and incontestable winner. He is only 14 points ahead of the second and 30 points ahead of third. So at least to me this year feels totally different from last year where Käärijä won the televote by a landslide (133 points ahead of second), but the jury voted for a good, but not outstanding song.
    I personally could not decide on ONE favourite this year. There are so many songs I could see winning, but Nemo and Baby Lasagna both were high on my list, so I am happy with the actual results.

    Nemo‘s win feels bitter sweet. Really love their song and performance, but they got massively pushed by the juries, it took out all the suspense from the announcement of the results. I was so hoping for the results to be a little more surprising with Baby Lasagna becoming first. So frustrating that it felt almost exactly like last year, so I get why people are angry. And with all the mess going on around this finale, I guess a lot of people are so not into celebrating Nemo as the winner, EBU‘s like ‘hey we know there’s a lot of tension around this contest right now, but look we got a queer winner!‘ Well, doesn’t help that Nemo‘s mostly been preferred by the jury…

    Congratulations to Nemo from Croatia! It was extremely hard to watch the Finals which I felt - unfortunately - didn’t unite everyone by music. I understand there are some rules to follow, but ESC should also consider giving an additional award to the winner od people’s hearts ♥️ we love you Baby Lasagna, thank you for wearing your heart on a traditional Croatian sleeve. We are so proud 🇭🇷

    I mostly think it is weird that the jury and audience don't vote on the same show. Maybe some of the disparity comes from that. Plus having Netherlands elminated between those shows likely changed things up. Would like to know if they just dropped all their votes out or asked for revised ranking. Biggest surprises for me are Latvia, Germany, and Norway.
    Latvia getting 7th in their semi and being top 20. Great result for song that a lot of people discounted as too slow. Great to see Germany on the left side of scoreboard. That was my favorites of the one predicted to be bottom 5.
    Really did think Norway was gonna be top 10. Guess people were just looking for a different type of bombast this year.

    I was so proud for ONCE of the UK jury giving the 12 to Portugal which was my favourite of the more emotional songs, our juries for once had a great range of taste and rewarded both the fun and the serious because they all deserved a fair assessment. Instead of my usual horror at our jury that honour went to the televote instead but let’s put that behind us and hopefully move forward with more clarity from the EBU. I’m going to be following with interest what comes of the next few days because honestly from start to finish this year’s contest was, besides the music, an unmitigated disaster and I expect the EBU to be held accountable in a way that can see actual change. Resign, Österdahl. Thank you.
