Well, why? Putting a bunch of fixtures that use a lot of channels on their own in a gigantic truss isnt THAT amazing, when you dont use it very well. Which i think they didnt.
Sweden in 2023: we need big heavy structure over Loreen head for her performance. UK in 2023: Sorry, Sweden, our stage can't withstand it. Sweden in 2024: constructs 5 heavy cubes over stage and makes them move.
Thank you so much for a great video! In my opinion this is the best Eurovision ever from a technical stand point. I love the lighting pod design, especially when they make shapes in the ceiling. Great to see Ola return to Eurovision!
Hey Jared, thx so much. With the Swedes and of course the crew from Green Wall Designs, you could be sure right from the start that it would be a stunning lighting design this year. It was very cool that many veterans like Ola were at work, and they still haven't lost their fire. What Fredrik Stromby and his team did incredibly well was the fine symbiosis of light and video content. You're right the design of the negative space above the stage with all the kinetics was amazing.
60 Universes on a single truss. Forget mic drop moment - that was every single mic on the planet dropped at the same time. Spectacular video, thank you for producing it.
@@TWFydGluThe only way you’re controlling that many fixtures is if they’re all 1 channel dimmers and that’s not what this is. It’s pixel mapped and individual control of fixture’s elements. It’s still an insane number of fixtures but nowhere near 30k
@@terjemullerkarlsen3028I’d like to add on to what he said. A DMX universe is a group of 512 channels for controlling lights. You set the DMX address on the fixture and put it in the console and that’s how lighting control works. It’s actually pretty simple. A simple lights patch chart would be IRGBW. So if you set the light to DMX address 1 channel 1 would control intensity, 2 would control red, 3 green, 4 blue and 5 white. The reason you need so many channels and universes is because they have individual control of the elements on the fixture or its pixel mapped. Each separate element on the light would need its own 5 or more channels for it to work correctly. I’m currently using 2 universes for 5 bar lights because they need 119 channels for the level of control I want for it. I hope this answers your question
Yea, Ola is just so great, he should have done a lot more video blogs this year. It's brilliant that he is so open and shares so many nice little BTS moments. He and Joan Melzig have helped us a lot to produce a few insights here on EE again.
Eurovision was a blast to watch and this video gives everyone interested an amazing view behind the scenes. Thanks EventElevator for this awesome content!!!
I have been waiting for a Video from Event Elevator because the amount of detail is just crazy. With most mainstream Media you just get the amounts of Fixutres or how long the cabeles are but with this Video a lot of Technical people are satisfied. What will be difficult is getting an even better Eurovision production next year but im sure they will come up with something even more brilliant.
At this point, the goal may as well be to simply keep the production at the level that it is. Pretty much a perfect setup to showcase all the performances.
Well, I must admit that I do like the lists with the amounts of hoists, fixtures (and types), kilometers of truss, universes and so on, this is more a showcase of how it was designed and put into play which I also like. Can't really compare them I think.
Yep, stage this year was amazing. Many coutries used advantages of this setup and with properly working cameras result was truly stunning. Eg. with Czechia. Congratulations to all technicians. That was a piece of very good job and even with sometimes - let's say - primitive music, it was at least looking like masterpiece.
Thank you Event Elevator for this behind the scenes look, done a great job on this slick video. I love looking at the production aspect of ESC and the seeing these shots of the stage and up close to the lights and fixtures
Was an amazing production. My 2nd favorite eurovisions since 2020. My favorite was 2021. 2021 literally had an amazing ambience. Also stage was beautiful, followed by the venue and stagings.
Many, many thanks to you, EE guys, who made this awesome review! Glad 2 hear that Ola is back in the game. In 2009, when Moscow hosted Eurovision, he made the greatest gift to me and my colleagues by taking us a little trip around the venue. So many years passed by and I still remember every single moment!
Ola is a true gentleman. He also gave us great support this time, because it's not always very easy to show insights. The Swedes really outdid themselves this time with the EUROVISION and created a super immersive show conpect.
Ah great you made another video, really enjoyed last years too! Insane how much tech is used, not enough viewers realize how much crazy tech is used to produce a show like this.
It's really fun to see the different styles and working methods of the various EUROVISIONS. Each country has its own vibe. In general, the last productions in Rotterdam, Turin, Liverpool and now Malmö were at a really impressive level.

60 Universes in Moving Lights maybe crazy but i think when we talk about Pixelfixtures 60 Universes you can achieve pretty fast. so the question is 60 Universes for which fixtures.
I generally watch Eurovision now for the technical show, less about the performers, more about the technology and how it's being applied. For sure, for a manufacturer, getting your kit onto the Eurovision stage must do wonders for their marketing.. lol - It's amazing how LED/Laser has really taken over from traditional light sources; Was there any traditional lamps in use for the show..?
You can find the whole equipment in our article (it's in German, sry) eventelevator.de/storys/esc-malmoe/ The only fixtures that were a bit more traditional were the ROBE Forte, T1 and T2. The lighting manufacturers naturally have a high interest in getting the latest models into the show, of course. The Ayrton Rivale was a good workhorse I think, the Martin Mac One too. With these high numbers, you have to stay within budget somehow.
