I grew up 8 miles from Black Oak and Ricky was from Monette Arkansas.. I used to hang out with him and Jim Dandy at my brothers place in Memphis. Ricky and Jim were some of the nicest people you will ever meet. RIP brother.

First band I ever saw live, 1974. Still miss my hearing. BTO , and Black Oak, Milwaukee arena. I was 16, that’s the first of my concert going, saw Black Oak 3 times, I was High on the Hog

That would have been a great combination concert then. Talk about getting your money's worth. Both bands were at there peak. That's like a fantasy come true. WOW..👍

Just seen this post and greatly saddened by it. I had every album that BOA had put out in my younger years. They were a really fun band at the time. Musically they were not great, but enjoyable, entertaining, and a lot of fun in that time. Getting older sucks, because everyone you did know are in the ground if you are blessed to still be standing. Part of God's plan. Thank you Ricky Lee Reynolds & BOA for an enjoyable journey. That's what life is all about. A journey in of itself.
    God Bless🙏✝️

Rickie Ricochet a gentleman and a true friend. The past few years we became good friends. I wrote a song called "Rickie Ricochet" 2 years after his passing. the reason it took me so long , is because I was devastated. I couldn't take what I heard in my head and write it is because of my mental health. Now that it is out of my head and in music form, I would like for people to hear it.

Really saddened by this news. Loved BOA and their last album (Underdog Heroes) was a beauty. Sympathy and good wishes from the deepest south - Australia! Thanks for all the wonderful music. People, if you can get it, please get vax and wear a mask - COVID is deadly and even with vax it is can still be nasty.

@@lenspaulding I've said what I will on vaccine. Let's share what we have in common - favourite Rickie Lee/BOA moment or song? For me it would be 'Uncle Elijah', the song that really turned me onto the band. The humour that runs through so much of their work grabbed me, but so did the musical deep dive into the Delta, with Bluegrass, Gospel, Country and Blues all featuring. In interviews Rickie Lee always came over as such a decent bloke. Fantastic band, hauled me through some hard times and made the good times so much better.

I got to see Black Oak Arkansas back when the Mermaid on hwy 10 in Moundsview were having outdoor concerts in the late 70s early 80s . Got to talk to Pat Travers the one year and he had the bass player from Twisted Sister playing bass for his band but without all the makeup and clothing he would wear when playing in Twisted Sister . I recognized him by the way he would thump the bass and during intermission i said hey your the bass player for Twisted Sister and he turned around and came back to talk to me & a friend and i asked him why he's playing bass for Twisted Sister and he said when touring slows down at times with Twisted Sister theres a site you can get on that has well known rock bands that are looking for musicians from bands that need the extra work for hire and thats how he got in to play with Pat travers for a while until Twisted Sisters schedule was ready to tour again . I moved out of MN years ago but its too bad that the Mermaid doesn't do these outdoor concerts anymore because they were always fun to go to on those hot summer days .
