Heard this in 5th grade from a white friend of mine and never forgot it. 2 years later, I picked up bass guitar and in the mid 80's, I'd end up in a southern rock band in NC. Never forgot BOA or the killer bass intro to this song but I didn't know the name. Remembered the lyrics (or spoken word) verbatim, but could never find the song name or the song...until now. The only redeeming quality of the Internet. Thanks for posting this. Brings back memories of better times. 👍🏾👍🏾☀️

Jim Dandy se presentó con otros músicos; entre ellos un joven prodigio de 17 años que tocaba a toda madre. Tampoco era el Deep Purple original, sólo era un cantante, Rod Evans creo, con otra banda. Al terminar el concierto hubo muchos desmanes en los cuales robaron muchas tiendas; de ahí hubo aún más represión, la cual ya existía desde antes. Por eso me lanzé a los Estados Unidos, para poder disfrutar de más rock. Ahora en México ya se escucha libremente; pero antes pasamos las de Caín con tal de ver una tocada.

Así es Mario; se ve que tu papá sabe de lo que habla. Rod Evans fué uno de los cantantes que sustituyeron a Ian Gillan pero que no lo reemplazaron; Ian fué el mejor. Rod se presentó con otros musicos que no habían tenido nada que ver con Deep Purple y Rod, habiendo tenido una efímera temporada con el Deep, pues no convenció. Con Black Oak Arkansas pasó casi lo mismo; con la gran diferencia del Deep Purple en el cual todos los músicos eran reconocidos como base de el grupo; en BOA Jim Dandy era el líder y el más reconocido de la banda. Tenía un carisma impresionante y una voz que nadie podía igualar (yo lo intenté frente al espejo con muy malos resultados para mis cuerdas vocales😂😂😂). Además de que, como dije antes, traía muy buenos músicos, en especial el joven guitarrista. Me alegro que tu papá te introduzca a el maravilloso mundo del rock and roll y te platique sus experiencias. Recordar es vivir. Tu estás viviendo tu época, pero es bueno que sepas un poco de la historia de la época de tu papá; tuvo su encanto.

Tienes razón; confundí a Rod Evans con Glenn Huges o algo así que fué el que sustituyó a Ian Gillan. De cualquier manera la segunda alineación fué la mejor y la que le dió fama a el nombre de Deep Purple. Fué la que grabó el Made in Japan que para mi en mi humilde opinión es uno de los mejores discos grabados en vivo.
La escuchaba a todo volumen y mis papás se encabronadan jajaja que tiempos aquellos.
