All of the percussionists in our band always fight over who gets to play the train whistle
The percussion section couldn't figure out the whistle... so I brought mine from home and did it one day. Only Trumpet that ever played the wistle

My school used to play this every year as tradition, and we got new directors so we don’t play it anymore :(

when I was in middle school our teacher had the sax player take it up the octave and do a rip up to the note, its simple but cool (not the best i've heard ofc but its cool for middle school)

Played this years ago in middle school and hearing this again brings back so many memories of me starting out as a hornist and really enjoying this piece as I was learning how to properly play my instrument. I'm currently a sophmore in college persuing a degree in music performance. I never lost my love for playing music and pieces like this helped built the musician I am today.

not for their piece, like the ONLY one in their whole GRADE. so they’re the only one on of their instrument because they have to be

4:01 is definitely my favorite mainly because french horn, trombone, baritone (if we had one), and tuba sound sooo good together and these instruments are sometimes left out with the cool parts and stuff. when we played that for the first time the other tuba player was like THAT WAS AWESOME. sadly I'm the only one now
In my band those people played it but my director told them to be quiet and let us play the main part I'm horn.

i played this for my winter concert about a month ago and my band class was separated so only two out of the four horns were in my class, including me, so me and my other french horn in that class thought we had a solo because the only baritone in that class was too quiet and we didn’t have a trombone in that class either

Doing this for my freshman year (this year) Christmas concert, and my band director giving me first part is a lot to carry since I have the bass clarinet part at measure 29-41 and then the Trumpet solo right after it is a lot to carry😅

I was the trumpet soloist at 1:33 in my band and when i realized the solo was coming up i was shaking so hard and almost cried after it cause i was scared that i was gonna gonna mess up but good thing is one of the highschool directors complimented me and so did my band directors wife (she was a trumpet player in her schools wind ensemble) so it made me feel better about it

Ya boy has got the snare drum, on most occasions we will play this song at roughly 0.75x but a little faster, then we’ll play the full speed and it sounds amazing
I really like this piece because, unlike other pieces, everyone has a little bit of melody. The tubas, baritones, bari saxes, bass clarinets, and bassoons don't just sit still playing long notes.

I remember being a trombone sitting next to a tuba, and being memorized by how when the jazz part came on how it just flowed. The trombone part is snazzy was well to play but the tuba part looked really snazzy to play

Sounds bad lmao, my band has a plentiful lower range and tons of clarinets, 3 saxes (4 counting one that's out because his schedule won't fit it) I'm a sax player, like 4 trumpets and 5 flutes
@@blazingaxels you're so lucky. We have 5 clarinets, 4 alto saxes(only 3 since one broke his knuckle), 1 tenor sax (me), 3 trumpets (but only 2 since one hurt her arm) 1 trombone, and about 6 percussionists.

@@hallsisters5620 I have to play this at a concert in like 3 days, and I’m so not prepared. I feel you, what I can tell you is that try to take deep breaths during the 4 counts before the special part comes. It can really help! You just learned it wow that must be difficult
