    I had my two kids here in the US and I’ve never paid a dime. I had state insurance and my kids insurance cards were given to me right at the hospital. Till date, they’re still covered under the state insurance. My kids are 10 and 8.

      Sister I have pinned your comment. People don’t understand things

    • @Lando-kx6so
      @Lando-kx6so ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's your experience, the average out of pocket cost for those on a plan is about $3k and many pay way more than that. My sister surely had to pay when she had her children. People without insurance (& there are millions) have to pay up to $19k

    • @dorawaje4427
      @dorawaje4427 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why the discrepancy in how the insurance works. I am trying to compare usa Canada and Uk and make my choice. So far I have gathered USA is highest paying but gun violence and having to pay heavily for healthcare even on insurance

    • @Dorothy8631
      @Dorothy8631 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dorawaje4427 That’s because the US doesn’t have universal healthcare like the UK and Canada. Here, the government is not in charge of the healthcare system so there are private insurance companies we pay our health insurance to who also pay for the health care services we receive at the hospital or when you see a doctor. Personally, I have never have to pay anything outside the insurance premiums I pay when I see my doctor. My kids and mom who live with me all have free insurance from my state. I pay for mine through my employer. So I guess everyone’s situation is different. In regards to the gun violence, you’re right the US has the highest.

    • @terrelmensa4373
      @terrelmensa4373 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I strongly doubt you didn’t pay a dime. Here in Ohio my friend went to give birth and she came out of pocket for about $5000 . Let’s stop deceiving people online as if America is a utopian country. We have our problems here many of them. The only advantage is that there are many job opportunities here compared to Ghana. That’s all there is to it.

    I think the most important thing is to be where God asks you to be. If God instructs a person to stay in the UK or even Ghana and they decide to go to America, they will not flourish. Therefore, @Joicel and @Nanelle, my advice is to steer people in the direction of God's leading though it's okay to share opportunities and challenges of different countries.

    I feel if nanelle was single and they hadn’t gotten a house, she would have moved. Also, it seems her hubby loves the UK, then men in general have the fear of starting over again. Initially, he was tempted to move to the UK to come join me, but I insisted that he stayed while we (our son and I) join him. One of the reasons was because the pay both in Nursing and IT in both countries can't be compared with each other .

    Great video. I'm not a nurse so I'm not sure why I'm here. God bless all the nurses out there for all you do. It goes without saying that US pays better. A classic capitalist country where profit making is the goal in every industry whereas the UK adopts a more socialist approach in some sectors, though they're also trying to privatise lots of things now. So yes, when it comes to pay in almost every area, it's clear that US>UK but when it comes to other benefits such as annual leave, maternity leave, sick leave, etc UK>US. They're both beautiful countries! And considering that most us are from developing countries, either option is still a step up.

    Lol, i Jut watched the same video and mad this comment below
    "Good points made, you can also have a side hustle in the US and even make more because you only work 3 days/week and one 4-day week in a month. By the way, not all nurses get paid biweekly in the US, depending on your union. As a new grad nurse in NY, I get paid every week and make 6 figures ( over 100k$ with no overtime), then I still have my other side hustle and decide to pick up OT when I feel like it. With security issues, I think you nailed it. Nowhere is totally safe, we also hear about gangs and knife violence in the UK though in the US gun violence is a big thing, and that majorly depends on where you live like you said. Every state/city has its own predominantly safe areas, just know about your zip code. People sometimes look for cheap neighborhoods to live in and complain about crime. what do you expect?? One of my friends recently came in from the UK, had a nice/safe time in every state he visited and on his last two days decided to rent a cheap Airbnb in Newark, NJ because his flight was taking off to the UK from Newark. I picked him up at NY airport, hung out and he told me he rented an Airbnb in Newark. I told him to give me the address and after I looked it up, I straight told him he rented an Airbnb in the hood and should have let me know before doing that. He was like how do I know the area is not a good area. Long story short, I went to drop him off there that night. The next building's neighbors were all smoking weed heavily outside lol. I took him to the grocery to get all he needed and told him to just stay indoors all night till the next morning he was going to the airport. The next morning he called me screaming there were gunshots fired on his street and cops were everywhere with the roads blocked on his way to the airport, He was like I am traumatized and I just want to get back to the UK then I was like I told you."

    The sad thing is we Africans mostly equate higher income to better living standard and life. I wanted so bad to relocate to the US in the past till I started seeing the differences between US and where I am in Europe. Even if you gave me a million dollars I can never live in the USA. My relatives in the US have very bad Govt support compared to UK. Healthcare, job security-joblessness, housing support with bad health etc. The insecurity in the US is bad, you never know where a shoot out will occur. You drop your kids at school in the US with a fear. American veterans from the Vietnam war are on the road begging for money. It’s all capitalism on drugs in the USA no provision for the poor.

The opportunities here in the US are way more leaving a state to another state here is like leaving UK to France or spain. So if you’re not comfortable with a state try another.

    • @virginiaoflaherty2983

      I am from the US and I am agreeing about the states. Each state is different in small ways and large. Do your research about cost of living, laws and rules are different from state to state, taxes etc. School systems are different, and often are strongly influenced by politics. The same with health systems and health insurance. Also with social services, and climate. But the speaker is correct, think of each state as a different country.
      The Federal Government in Washington DC has laws binding for the whole country. But State laws are only binding for each state. Then each county within the state.
      Well welcome to the US. I suppose most people who immigrate, especially if they come alone with no family support do have stressful time. The more family, friends, church, and other organizations you belong to the more serene and secure you are likely to feel.
      The other ridiculous aspect of the US is people will say they are against immigrants but will also say the immigrants they actually know they like very much.

    No offence. I have an Australian colleague whose wife is American and now they are working and settled in the UK. These are not immigrants we are talking about. Both nurses by the way. What he has said about the US was "work is the identity" and there is no work-life balance. When it comes to work culture the pressure is high when compared to European culture. Therefore he prefers the laid back life in the UK. So it mainly depends what people want in their lives. He also added that even though the pay is high, the expenses are way higher in the US when compared to the UK. Just the houses and cars are cheaper it seems. I was intrigued and I was asking for the reason for his choice and there I had it. He was talking about the opportunities to travelling to other European countries on vacations, the AL and sickness leave etc.

When i don't work weekend I work Week 1 Mon & Tue then in week 2 i work Mon, Tue, and Wed. The pay period when I work my weekend, i get 9 days off consecutively...for example, week 1 i work Mon&Tue, then week 2 i work Fri,Sat, sun. You see, I have Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, wed & Thu off. We literally don't want to ask for vacation hours. You can just schedule your vacation on your 9-day off calendar. Vacation off are there you can ask and get. Our state is that we have a union... great and better benefits with very high pay. The patient ratio is the best depending if it is ICU/Tele, step-down, OR, pre-op, medsurg or psych unit etc, also depends on whether it is day shift or night shift. Work/job description for nurses is less too. If I have to write about the benefits, the list will never end. Please, people tell the truth, not the hearsay!

    This is interesting that we are comparing a nation that has 50 states and 5 territories. Vs a small island in the Europe. Having lived in the US for 19 years, I can say it was far easier to make it a regardless of whether or not you’re in the healthcare system. Post 9/11 it has become very difficult to obtain a green card if you are in an area that isn’t health related. If you’re not in the health fields, just be prepared to work and wait years for your green card. If marriage isn’t the route that you want. In short both countries have their flaws and benefits one may be a better fit for you and your family. And the benefits you talk about are for workers not international students. I can go on and on by in short it’s possible to make it in America but if it is not via health care be ready to work and wait years for your papers in the U.S.

    For starters, US is very difficult if you don’t have a green card or proper immigration papers. The US also has it’s own problems just like any another country. Everyone has a different experience, it depends on who you talk to.

      I absolutely agree
      But I was referring to nurses who if they go to the USA to work they get their green card on arrival. So yes they become starters but they don’t struggle like other places where they have to work for 6 years to get permanent residency

      @@brendafrancis894This comment is interesting. You think everyone in the US don’t have healthcare? Hahahaha don’t believe everything you hear on the internet. Even my mom who hasn’t ever worked here has a full free insurance from the states and we pay nothing to see the doctor. They call every week to check on her sugar levels also.

      Good for you and your mom! So glad that your both well. That you get and can afford the insurance. As long as your ok then! You go get them coins. Oh and I have lived in the USA and I don't live in the UK! Why do we feel you need to go to either country to make it and live comfortably. Kudos to you though!

      I have an aunt that has been in the US since the early 90’s she is a nurse. She is now very poorly in health and had to stop work, she didn’t even get disability allowance for more than a year. Her mortgage and bills she was suffering. Mind you she got sick while at work and had to be airlifted. US will use the best years of your life better start saving up for your latter years dear. It’s all lovely cause you are new there.
