    Wow! They came out great. You are so inventive and we all benefit from your problem-solving skills. All of my pastel paintings are in Krystal Seal bags after seeing your video about storage. Now I can hold them and pass them around or tape them to my wall so I can admire and study them. The wood slices are a great gift idea and I think they should be good sellers for you too. I really like the shiny finish from the clear bag piece that you glued on, and the personalized touches to the back of them. It looks pro all the way! Thanks for everything you do for us, it helps so much and I personally love your heart for new artists like me, just finding our way. Happy Painting, Susan!

    Wow, do you ever have your stuff together. I took a pastel class to see if I could use it to add color to my wood turnings. Turned a hollowed out cat, used 6 different colors, then sprayed with lacquer to fix it, and then buffed it. It turned out nice for a first time. Would have liked to have seen your channel first, for all the different things that you mentioned. I did subscribe, so am looking forward to learning more, thanks.

    Well I'd say it was so good just seeing it was itself was mesmerising
    Nd the moment it saw it I told my mind to try making one for our home as well 😊
    But unfortunately m having my exam at the University
    Nd that painting these days is just so hard as I can't give it time
    So what I do is I rather see the videos nd save them in my playlists so that after my exams r over I can start
    I think u understand me

    I love your tutorials, espescialy when they are innovative ! Can I use this glaze and then paint over it with with oil paint, kind of doing a mix media ? Thanks in advance for your answer

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Else VAN DER GOOT I think oil paint should work fine over this surface. I can’t guarantee it, but I’m a fan of mixed media myself. It should work, and have fun!

  • @debrarank928

    Hi Susan. Really enjoyed this tutorial! Do you think that using a clear resin to seal the little painting would work?

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately anything liquid will make the pastel painting quite a bit darker. I keep trying to come up with something (other than glass) to permanently seal them, but no luck so far :(

  • @crystaleldridge3988

    Can you use acetate sheets for this? It's what I usually use to cover the work I sell until it can be framed by the buyer.

    Hi, very good info. I have a question. I have bought a very big piece of panel wood that I would like to paint with pastels. How could I protect it with those Krystal plastic if it os bigger than any of their sizes? Any other idea?

  • @gordanamudri48
    @gordanamudri48 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is amazing! Do you think that decoupage glue-varnish could replace diamond glaze ?

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gordana Mudri As long as it is an acid free product and dries clear I think it should work fine. The trick is to use the smallest brush possible and get an ever so thin layer on the edges. You don’t want the glue bleeding into the pastel painting.

  • @lldd11
    @lldd11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    could you just pour resin on it to seal it?

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish.... but sadly with pastel artwork any liquid application will really darken the final painting.

    • @lldd11
      @lldd11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@monetcafe Hey, how about putting some sort of thin film first and them sealing it all together? so it does not come in contact with liquid. It probably possible on small surface like this little wood panels, though on big surface probably not possible.

    I knew you would figure this One out. I also know, you're not, yet finished ;)
    From day one, when I first meet you, I recognized that you are among the 20% of people in the world; like myself... Where 'our' learning methods differ from others. This has the tendency of separating us from the big picture.
    'We,' have the tendency to focus on details that makes up the big picture, where as others, has a tendency to see the big picture and ignore the details,(A student's). In some cases, (sadly) this can cause information overload for many of 'us':
    But fortunately for 'us,' deep within, a process starts that is called... Complex Thinking.
    The definition is Very short; its based on the dimensions of reality. Some will explain it to 'us' this way:
    "Your problem is, you just have too many plates spinning in your head."
    THIS!!! Is a correct diagnosis...!!!
    So, what 'We,' develop is the ability too interconnect with these different dimensions of reality in our life, in solving problems.
    Inside the minds of those who see the big picture... call us a "Paradigm"(those who engineer) by definition, this maybe true, but 'we,' have earned much more than this.
    Also, 'we,' treat 'our' depressions, by solving complex problems; by knowing the rewards we will receive in the end; a spiritual energy Beyond what 'we,' can utter. TRUE..?
    Great job Susan

      Grumpy Owl wow, I can relate to what you wrote on so many levels… Especially too many plates spinning in my head, ha ha! But I actually like it that way. I wake up in the middle of the night with poetry in my head and sometimes have to get up and write it down. Of course sometimes, I feel I may suffer from, “jack of all trades and master of none.“ And yet I like the challenge of exploring new things with a child like enthusiasm. Thanks for that wonderful message brother and may these brains keep spinning until our last breath.

      @@monetcafe LOL... :))
      I like the cutting edge, also as I sleep, my subconscious does it all for me.
      Remember the pome I wrote, A promise fulfilled..? I wrote that in 18 mins.
      I would love to read your poems. E-mail them to me if you please.
      The results of an IQ test show the ability to collect information along the shape of a square cube: weight, dimensions and putting it in the square whole; aptitude.
      Aptitude depends on reading and receiving information not just memorizing the dictionary or the encyclopedia.
      This is why you teach the details of your work.

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JLPrice-kc2uy I definitely remember your poetry. You paint with words. I'll be happy to send you some of mine. I just wrote one the other day that happened like you mentioned.... well, maybe not 18 minutes, but it did flow very quickly. It really feels like something spiritual takes over (and we know Who that is ;)
      I like the IQ and square cube analogy.

      @@monetcafe I receive inspiration from you, and I believe you know this.
      I don't ever have writers block as they say. Inspiration can come from a word; by learning its definition and how it applies.
      When I was in college, not all classes would do this but some did... They gave me an 'A' for the course for my research on a subject and how it was written. I did receive scank-eye from several other students lol :))
      The problem is this... My papers are in a large data bank; if ever my work happens to show up on the internet, or handed in by another student; the school will pull my college credit and diploma because it was a full grade. Plagiarism.
      I did help others by placing information on a picture and just memorize the picture. Test time came around, Bingo as they used to say. Lol
