Most straightforward example of what could be done with Pan Pastels … great painting!
I just received a question about using Colorless Blender but I was unable to find the question so I'll answer it anyway just in case. Pan Pastel has a colorless blender which can be used on the surface of the paper before applying the Pan Pastel colors so that it will be easier in turn to add colors over the paper. It can be used before color is applied and under the colors, or mixed with the color after it is applied. It makes the pastel blend more easily. It can also increase transparency of the colors. For instance, you can apply the blender to the paper and then add red and then blend in yellow to make orange. The only difference between using and not using the blender is that the pastels move more smoothly and it adds to the transparency of the end result.
Thank you 😊. Just purchased my first set! You help me understand colorless blending.. still need to learn more. Will be watching you❤
Thank you for sharing this with me and thank you for following me.
Your sky, especially the clouds, is absolutely beautiful . Great tutorial. Thank you!
Beautifully painted. Thanks
Thank you.
Very very nice. I love the sky and I also had a question about the colorless blender. You answered that already. I have a couple paintings on the wrong paper and the wrong color. I have now pastel mat what a wonderous paper, even my color pencils work well. Thanks for sharing.
👌🤗🍀🥳🎄❄️🎉
Love this! You explain it all so well. Wish you would do more with Pan Pastels. I can't decide if I am going to give mine away or add more colors hoping to get better results!! Any thoughts??
Thank you. I'm glad the video was helpful. If you check my Playlists you'll see the pan pastel pieces I,'ve done.
@mariannekeller7504 I'd go with a combination of the Zorn palette, 6 colors i belive and you may have some or all and a good blue and yellow which you may also have. You can make many colors with that handful of pan pastels. I think I had over 60 before I realized that. If you don't want use them now do what I do and pack them away. They won't go bad and when you see a project you want to do in Pan Pastels you have what you. Oh, and I do have 67 videos by me in my Pan Pastel Playlist. I put them away and bring the back sometimes a year at a time .
I know its been a while since you posted this video, but, what paper are you referring to as the wrong paper. I'm about to buy some pan pastels, I've only used soft and hard pastels on Canson Mi Teintes, Strathmore Pastel, Strathmore Toned Grey and Canson Mixed Media paper. Their all textured, some more than others.
The wrong paper to use with pan pastels is Bristol vellum or any paper with minimal tooth. All the other papers you mentioned will work well with Pan Pastels. Any paper you used with soft or chalk pastels are good. My favorite at this point is the canson pastel paper and stonehenge hotpress watercolor paper. Many artists prefer the pastelmat which I used in this video but in the end I found pastel paper and watercolor paper best for me. If you check my channel you'll see othe demos on various papers. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
