  • Day hike up to the beautiful Colchuck Lake which is part of the Washington Enchantments. The lake surface sits at 5,570 feet and sits below the mighty DragonTail and Colchuck Peaks. Asgaard Pass is the gateway to the Upper Enchantments. I've hiked to this lake many times and every time I get to the lake, the blue water and surrounding peaks captivate me. I hope you enjoy the video.

I haven't backpacked to Colchuck in nearly 3 years. What a beautiful place. Did you just go there? Thinking about a good day hike!

Hi Debbi, yes this was filmed two weeks ago. The trail is in good shape up to the lake. Enjoy your next trip up there!

@@cascadiahiking My husband and I are looking at going back up there during the week for a day hike. We need to test out our new GG Mariposas!

@@cascadiahiking I may have to wait a few weeks to work up to the elevation gain. My husband & I are walking around Cashmere each night for 4-5 miles to warm up and will probably do Heather/Glasses lakes first for easier day hikes. We both have previous injuries which we have to work through to build up the strength in our bodies before tackling Colchuck, LOL! I'll be 69 in a few weeks and am a cancer survivor, plus have a bad back from too many people running into me with cars over the years. Life happens but it doesn't stop us; maybe just slows us down a might. 😉

Awesome video! What gear are you bringing up? Which camera? I’m picking up on a telephoto lens, a tripod, and perhaps another lens. Curious about the weight of all the gear you’re using…

Hi James, thanks. I added the camera equipment in the description of the video. Yes, I used a telephoto lens (70-200) for some of the shots. I consider bringing the telephoto on dayhikes or overnights when the rest of my kit is light but refrain from bringing it on longer trips as its a bit heavy.
