Thanks a million for your video. I've been right where you were, but it was 50 years ago. We started at trailhead in the daylight, and camped at Lake Colchuck the rest of the day and the night. Next morning early we started our trek. We played for a short while on Colchuck Glacier then accended the pass to the Enchantments. Half way up the pass we fed the Yellow Belly Marmots some trail mix by hand. We also helped some young ladies that were tryig to decend from the pass. They couldn't see where their feet were going in the steep terrain, so we hand held their feet to the next rock down in their steps. Once we reached the Enchantments we lingered for a short while then returned via the same way we took up. It's the most beautiful country my eyes and feet have ever been in. Thanks for the memories. I was in my early 20's then. I'm in my early 70's now, and will never return.
We did this thru hike last summer, you guys looks exhausted, i feel you, we were so dead back to TH. We hiked in the dark and back to the trail in the dark. Epic hike overall!
Did this thru hike a couple of years ago...loved it (except the last 7ish miles). The core is exceptionally beautiful and Colchuck is always worth the work! Cheers ;)
Thank you very much. Looking back, I’m really not too happy with the video quality, and storytelling. But nonetheless one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done, and a fun video memory for ys. Thanks for watching
Epic thru hike! Awesome video. I use and recommend a sawyer squeeze filter. Practically a lifetime filter life w back flushing in between hikes. You can fill your bladders and not worry about running out of water. If you want to save weight, bring a 1L water bottle. The squeeze screws directly on. Keep posting these great vids. Enjoy watching your adventures
Wow I’ve never heard of that but sounds amazing, and it would be so nice to save on water weight lol. It gets so heavy, I’ll have to check it out. Thank you!
The mountain you were looking at wasnt Rainier. Rainier is south of the Enchantments, not north. You were seeing either Glacier Peak or Mount Baker, both also volcanoes.
Great video! Loved the cinematography. We completed our trip last June and it was one for the books. I also have some Enchantments videos up on my channel! Always like seeing the other films. Great job!
Hopefully you have learned a little more about avoiding blisters. But two things, NEVER ever wear cotton socks, and bring extra socks with you in your pack. Change your socks if they get wet, and every 10-ish miles, or at the halfway point. You should never get blisters if you have the right shoes and socks. This from an ex army guy who did many many miles in boots with a ruck sack & weapon.
My feet sweat a lot and in my last 23 mile day hike, I was struggling with lots of blisters! I had socks that were not supposed to give me blisters, changed my socks 3 times, I prep my toes to avoid blisters and still got them, I ended up with 8 blisters on my feet… what can you recommend for me since I also want to do this hike?
Did it yesterday , 6:45am to 5:30 pm from Colchuck lake trailhead to Snow lake trailhead. Awesome first 7 miles and not so much last 11 (: btw my watch shows 18 miles.
The hike is epic. I’m planning to visit Washington this July. For the park pass, do you have to buy in advance or you can pay $5 at the trail head? Did you call and pay for your own shuttle taxi?
Great video. I am a big fan of helmets so, don’t take this question wrong. Did you really need a helmet in retrospect? Wondering if I need to take one this summer. Cheers!
In retrospect, no it wasn't necessary. I am saying this solely for the Enchantments route (if you plan on doing any summits you probably will need). Another reason I think it wasn't fully necessary is because we climbed Aasgard Pass before anyone else the day we did it, if people were ahead of us there's a much higher chance of rockfall so it's hard to say from our experience. We left so early so depends on your plan, hope this helps! thanks for watching!
You loopholed the permit system, but cheated yourselves out of the true depth of experience that comes with spending more time in such sublime surroundings.
Don't get us wrong, we would LOVE to backpack here for as many days as possible (and climb some of the peaks), but we've never been able to score a permit sadly
@@KevinEassa Glad to hear it. I suppose rushing thru in a day is better than nothing. Some folks wait a long time to score in the permit lottery. Happily, I'm an old geezer who backpacked there over 40 years ago, well before crowds became an issue.
I did this hike from 6:30AM to 10:30 PM. lol. My take away is that: dont bring extra shit that you dont need, wear long sleeves for protection from the sun and damn mosquitos, bring a good water filter and lots of food, a good headlamp, and wear a hiking shoe (no gym shoes lol on this one).

Thanks Rob! This is truly a bucket list hike, but I agree with you on the last 7 miles haha, brutal never ending descent
You guys look like you're carrying a lot for a day thru! Amazing hike - did it six years ago. Best hike of my entire life.
Yeah we definitely over carried in hindsight. But a lot of it was also camera gear, worth it!
One of the better thru hikes I’ve seen of the Enchantments. Well done 👍🏽

My friend and I want to try the Enchantments hike , plan on camping at the top. 😊
Did this during larch season. Possibly the most beautiful area ive ever seen in my life.
I can’t even imagine what it looks like during larch season!

Thank you for the correction!
Amazing planning this hike next year !! I live close to Leavenworth
That’s awesome! Beautiful area, you’re going to love this hike
Thanks for sharing i look foward to doing this hike im slowly working my way up to it.

What date did you do this hike? I'm going in mid July and trying to get my bearings on what the conditions will be! Amazing view!
I believe around September 6th! It’ll be hot but amazing!!
Great footage, I just posted a through hike I did a couple weeks ago too. Assegard was so much fun to climb. The reward at the top is an amazing view
That is awesome! It's so much fun. thank you for watching

The first time I did the Enchantments backpacking, I finished two MCD quarter-pounders in 10 minutes right after.
Hahaha nice! We also crushed McDonald’s hahaha

@@KevinEassa yep! Perfect. Thanks very much for your insight.
Support!
thanks!
Epic! What time of year did you hike it?
august! it was freaking incredible!
Very nice man! Amazing journey!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What time did you start the hike ?
We woke up around 1245pm so probably started the hike around 130am if i recall?
@@KevinEassa oh wow! Thanks, did you started that early because it was in the month of September or why?
@@pnwhiker4239 we are landscape photographers and we wanted to be as far up Aasgard Pass as possible for sunrise light!

@@leestamm3187 that’s incredible. I will say though, we were on the trail from 2am to 8-9pm, so it was quite the single day😂

Ahh yes. Another TH-cam video encouraging the hordes to visit this once peaceful place. Thanks.
