Brotherly advice, dredge the fish first before dunking it in the batter. This will make the batter adhere to the meat more. 😊
Huh? What? Isn't that what dredging is? Me thinks a good tip for Jonathan is to season BOTH the batter and the fish! BTW, a good trick about making your coating of seasoned batter adhere to the fish is to let the battered fish rest in the frig for 20 minutes, and then cook it. Works for me for most fish, especially catfish! Happy Cooking!
Make a seasoned flour mixture then mix it in the beer batter
Another tip is to have a thermometer to measure the oil temperature. It should be hot enough so that the batter doesn’t stick or absorb oil. A good temperature is 350 F.
@@veetour350 fahrenheit. In Celsius that's over 600 degrees.
@@genespell4340 You’re absolutely right. It should be Fahrenheit. My mistake.
Yep, that mug has heard its last "Whooo!"
I love the Oregon coast so much. Used to sit in a refrigerator box in the family backyard when it rained to listen to the torrent on the cardboard.
I am going to counter the oyster haters here and say I am a proud raw oyster fan. I also love your cooking. Truck campers have pretty limited Space and making the meals you do is talent and inspiring. Love your dog but don’t wonder where she is - that’s your business. Unless you are hiding your location I didn’t hear where you were but I am sure I could figure it out. You have an entertaining blend of adventure, cooking, real life and positive attitude. Thanks for making these.
eew
I'm from Virginia but have always found the Pacific Northwest to be so cozy, chill and exotic at the same time.
Lemon and hot sauce oyster shots are the best way to do it 👌🏻
Great vid Jonathan 💕🤙 fish tacos looked good. Make sure oil HOT next time and shouldn't stick or not as much. I usually use a spatula if frying in shallow oil too. Also make batter thick. Can dredge then batter then back to seasoned flour for extra thick batter or you can make batter kind of thick n lumpy and itll clump up a lot like restaurants do. But the more batter the more greasy it gets. Stay dry!
PS- RIP "Mugsy" ☕ I pray you find a suitable replacement companion.....I mean mug 😆
Did a road trip with friends last week, so cal to Washington state. Actually enjoyed the rain because I live in Las Vegas. Need to go back and spend more time in the area. I love it there! 😂❤😂❤
Tip. You can fry in the cast iron, with minimal oil but the temp has to be 350 plus degrees. Enoy the videos keep em coming.
I really ENJOY your videos
Love the little guy-so adorable!🐶 And Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms in your family!🌺🌺💐💐🤗🏕🦀🤣☕
7/10 Needs more puppy
I love the coastal videos. Really enjoyed this one. Living in New Mexico we get little rain and are far away from the coast. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
😊 I love New Mexico lives in Taos 7 years.....👋🏽👍🏽🙂
If you ever go to New Orleans you need to try ACME oyster house and there char grilled oysters are amazing
something about camping in the rain, in the safe and comfort of your camper, sure appeals a lot to me!
Love the sound of the rain on the campers
I love the sound of rain inside a camper, so relaxing. Also listening to you cut veggies with a sharp knife is oddly satisfying. 🤣🌧️🥒
I miss living in a house with a tin roof over a porch. Setting on the porch and listening to the rain is something special.
Yea, cook fish in that small space so you can smell it for the next week!
if you ever get to the east coast, cape may salts are delicious, as are the ones for chespeake bay.
Rain 🌧️🌧️❤ Fish Tacos 🌮🌮 the best Great Video
Rip legendary coffee mug...
Truly rainy cozy! Loved it❤
The beginning looks like you stepped into The Goonies movie.
The Oregon coast always looks like the Goonies!
The Goonies was filmed in this general area of the Oregon coast. Somewhere around Astoria or Cannon Beach.
Baby... RUTH!
@@jeffharrison6059hey you guys!!!
Now you gotta do the truffle shuffle! 😂
If you flour your fish then dip into batter it doesn't stick. Try it next time.
No puppy
Love a man who eats raw oysters....hope it get warmer up there!!!
Supposed to be 80 next weekend!
Oregon is wonderful
Hi from Lafayette, Louisiana. Tabasco buddy. Only real hot sauce from Louisiana.
Miss the pooch, of course!
I always learn something about the NW watching your channel. Tx :)
Cool video , the ocean looks so relaxing.
Been watching a long time now just wanted say the camper and truck are so awesome for you! Heat!! and the pooch! The pooch is a great addition! Keep up the cooking! Happy for you!
Hi1 Agree, the pooch is a great addition, unless you are camping with Kristi Noem! Be careful out there (both you and your pooch!). Happy Cooking!
@@michaelsalmon6436o is Kristi noem?

Miss the pup. I hope all is well..
Very nice video,, despite not going the way you like 😊
That view is from the Goonies!
One best video yeti! That’s what great about campers.. when raining!!
Cocktail sauce with horseradish is the way to eat them, not Tabasco.
What can you expect from the west coast ?
Have a great week
Really enjoyed everything about this video. The Calm Rain, Fresh Seafood, A little Veggie Chopping & more Cooking,The Scenery, The Lookout Point, The Lighthouse Light topped it all off PERFECTLY. Of course, missed your sidekick Pup 🐶 but 24 hours of rain 🌧 and both of you would have been seeing green madness 😂❤😂😂😂 so next passing on that togetherness was a wiser choice. Two thumbs-up 👍👍.
If you flour the fish then put it in batter it will stick to the fish better. ❤
Beautiful!
so glad you checked the lighthouse in the morning. Despite the rain, it was beautiful.Worth an entire video. Very sorry for the foul weather, but, as you said, it’s the Pacific Northwest.
Next time you fry fish, try lightly coating the fillets in flower before dipping them in the batter. Should help it from flaking off. Plus, like you said, more oil, and make sure to have it up to temp before placing the fish in to cook. Just a helpful tip from a former fry cook back in the day.
Love fresh raw oysters oh yea!!
Ohhhhh. man. What a cool mug
Spectacular tacos! 🌮❤🎉
Rain on the Oregon coast ? Who thought ? Try the southern California coast.
great video Pal, I really enjoyed it ✌👍
Beautiful lighthouse! I have so many memories as a boy visiting and camping the oregon coast when the weather was less than perfect that now I think I prefer when its rainy and not crowded. Great video, sorry again about your mug 😶🌫🌧☔🐟
Great video missed seeing your puppy but it was great seeing you I also love oysters 🦪 and those looked delicious great job great camping till next time
Johnathan, I love to watch you cook! You should have become a chef! Everything you make looks so good! Nice video, love your videos!❤
Love how you made the slaw and sauce without vinegar and mayo definitely going to try it meself👍
Dredge the fish in flour before dunking I'm batter and definitely use more oil man 🤙
There is honor in following the rules. Thank you for doing so!
Miss the puppy
Taco and Beer! :)
Love that area. It’s my go to spot mainly for crabbing.
Me and my family took a RV trip, we visited almost every lighthouse in Oregon in 2004.
It's 9:30 pm, and Im now salivating over the thought of oysters.
I got the stuff to make fish tacos a few days ago, Gotta make them tonight for sure. Thanks for he motivation John! 🐟🐠
Jonathan rules
Good video! Side note… your driver side camper brake light is out! Saw it towards the end of the video
That was the best looking fish tacos I ever seen!!
Jonathan, for a fish taco topping Southwest style. You'll
like the tang! Add more chiles as desired. Some jalapeño maybe.
Pico de gallo
Pico de gallo, also called salsa fresca, salsa bandera, and salsa cruda, is a type of salsa commonly used in Mexican cuisine. It is traditionally made from chopped tomato, onion, and serrano peppers, with salt, lime juice, and cilantro. Pico de gallo can be used in much the same way as Mexican liquid salsas.
North of depot Bay there are a few overlooks that have no no overnight parking signs. I didn't stay long though. 6 hrs . To nervous to stay longer. Lol
Nice looking fish tacos! You should get one of those contact-less thermometers to measure your coffee, cooking oil, ... and just add a little cold water when coffee is too hot, do it at 3/4 cup full, then you can add some more hot if needed, or keep some hot coffee in reserve to add in when wanted...
It upset me that the mug fell and broke last video. It’s like loosing a longtime friend. I think it’s okay to spend some time in mourning and not replace that mug right away. When the time is right, a new mug will enter your life.
I actually thought your second camping spot was nicer than the muddy ocean. 😉 I hope you find someone to make you a new mug. I would if I knew how.
Did you drive off at one point with your steps down? I hope someone makes you a mug with beautiful trees...and maybe a crab. Thanks, Jonathan.
That is one good rain.send some our way, here in Alberta we need rain!!!
It’s been a dry spring we needed it here too!
Righteous choice with the Crystal! I live in Eugene, but my family is from New Orleans, and Crystal is the sauce of choice in NOLA.
It’s a tasty one!
For what it's worth, in my opinion, I just think the oil wasn't hot enough.. Also, I always coat the meat in flour before dipping into any batter, same with rings!
Yup, oil wasn't hot enough
I use my YETI’s exclusively for cold fluids and ice, great on sweltering days.
FYI-Oysters of that size sell over here in the East Coast (Newport, Rhode Island) for example l ) for at least $3.50 each! They are farmed, right out of a salt and fresh water commercial pond, located right around the corner from the restaurant's front door, and they were fantastic. I was informed that we were enjoying pre-season prices! After Memorial Day, the prices more than double, and they limit the consumption per person, so everybody can enjoy them.
Despite the rain 🌧️ the beach is still amazing and the sounds are so great ~ your camping spot ended up being super nice ~ sorry bout the mug ~ bummer ~ make the best of it
And ya betta get home to that puppy waiting for you ( Kaia ) 🐶😃
Missed the puppy
Peace
Whooo!
OMG I truly Love the Oregon coast it's beautiful. . Wen we was there almost 30 yrs ago it was raining and cold but we went to Depoe bay stayed at a hotel on a cliff. Guess u didn't bring the puppy. My 2 yr old granddaughter said icky at you eating them oysters. 😂
In Maryland raining here all weekend
You forgot to put the ladder up 😩😩😭😭😭
What happened to your patented " WOOO ! " After your first drink of coffee ? Sure do miss that Jonathanism.
I really enjoy your videos and can’t wait to see the pup again. Thanks for the awesome views!
Love me some fresh oysters. Yum.
Nice to see you back on the road. But hey, where's the pup? The fish tacos looked great . I look forward to the next video. Stay safe
I don't get how you stand the constant lack of sunshine around there. Thanks for the great video Jonathan
It’s plenty sunny in the summer 😊
Its actually a pretty big misconception that Oregon is always rainy. We tend to have spot on seasons, for the most part. Mr Yentch here just knows the YT algorithm and choses to camp on rainy days, because theres a niche for it.
‘‘Twas a very hungry man who first ate an oyster.” They look DISGUSTING! 😆
Love the SpongeBob reference
next time use butterit always works ,with medium heat.
You gotta make your way to Ensenada.
May our God grant you peace
My fav & only hot sauce is Texas Pete❣️.
Thought you got a puppy?
oysters are like eating snot
Lol I can’t stand to see anyone eating them. Slimy awful.
Nice video. Where’s your dog? If home that’s good since it’s been raining so much. Can’t wait until the next video. Take care
Where is your puppy?
At 17:24 on the video, are you driving off with your trailer's back steps still extended to the ground?? I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Sad about your coffee mug!
Where's Kaya? More fun with pet😊
PNWEET…….The sun is coming Thursday May 7 for days ⛅️🌤☀️☀️☀️☀️

So excited for it!
Oil should be very hot put in the fish then can turn fire down a it to cook
I think they are called a Ceramist
Where’s Kaya?! Patience and consistency while you train her.
