I am working on my educational research, I am trying to get everything done and get my credits turned into the district by sept 30th!! Tips for applied research in the capstone really appreciated!
@@lifebyjustin I wasn't sure which one to go with, since I'm on summer break my mentor recommended doing a PD instead. The turnaround for tasks right now is loooong wait time!!
Hi there! Yes, I completed all tasks in 2-2.5 weeks. The evaluators back in 2020 took a day or two to mark each part, and fortunately, I had no revisions to make. I'm unsure about their current evaluation time frame. Before starting the course, I had most of my project conceptualized and mapped out, which allowed me to hit the ground running once I got into it. I conducted all three workshops on consecutive days, allowing the investigation to happen in a short period. The analysis followed a few days after that. Also, I worked on my research presentation throughout the whole course, rather than just at the end. But, keep in mind that the non-licensure Education master's degrees I completed years ago were based on action research, while nowadays, they follow allied research. I am not familiar with the requirements and expectations for the new Education graduate degrees.
No problem! I had to create a comprehensive presentation but it was just a PDF or PPT. And I didn't have to present it orally. Some programs require oral presentations by way of video-recording. No final exam in the program I took, but the research study was very comprehensive. My report was about 75 pages long.
Hi Justin , thank you so much for your videos sharing about your WGU experience. I’m also from Canada and looking into enrolling into WGU but I just have a question about the online application process. It requires me to enter a ZIP code which I don’t have cause I’m in Canada, just wondering what did you do on your application to get pass this. Thank you so much again !!
You're welcome! And I am thinking you are referring to the online application as the first step? I can't quite remember what I did but it's possible that I called WGU and asked them. An alternative would be to put in a filler zipcode. I read online this: "If you run into a validation error for a country that does not use zip codes, you can try to force the address through by entering '00000' as a replacement postal code".
@@lifebyjustin thank you so much, I was just on the phone with the Counselor and forgot to ask them and their next availability is after Christmas so I figured I should go to you for help haha, anyways thank you so much for your advise, I’ll definitely give the 00000 zip code a shot and looking forward for your next video !
I'm not sure unfortunately because I did a masters in Education, which is quite different. Probably your best place to investigate is on Reddit. There might even be a subreddit for that specific area.
5.5 months. Most of that was coursework and the last 0.5 month was the masters research capstone. The capstone usually takes at least 3 months (usually longer) but I pushed it pretty hard at the end of the program.
Cool, good luck in the new year. I'm a postsecondary instructor. I studied a master's in curriculum and instructor at WGU, which includes various types of teaching professionals. The program is different than teacher degrees that lead to licensure typically
Do you know much about the MA for Teachers of English?? I’m considering that program, but I am not sure how it compares to the curriculum masters you did.
You give me hope.😊
I am trying to finish up my masters in education studies. Hopefully I can finish the capstone in 4 weeks (not sure it’s possible) but that’s my goal
Two weeks!?!? Wow

You can do it! I wish had the chance to do applied research. Instead, both my capstones were Action Research.

Hello! Did you complete tasks 1-5 of the capstone in all 2 weeks? If so, how did your instructor approve you?

Hi! Thank you for this video! Did u have to present your research project? Did u have to take an exit exam?

Do you know what the capstone is for a bachelors in human services?
I'm not sure unfortunately because I did a masters in Education, which is quite different. Probably your best place to investigate is on Reddit. There might even be a subreddit for that specific area.
So you finished the entire program in 4 months?

Are you a teacher? That's what I'm going for starting January 1st.
