I think most newcomers to Splatoon that have never touched the series will say this as it doesn't appeal that much in the west. I always came in with the game appealing to all ages, so I knew not to expect gore or offensive language lol. Might explain why Splatoon isn't hitting sale records like Japan.
I bet most people are more interested in MW2 and OW2 than they are for Splatoon 3 in America, but it is what it is.

Not just a copy of Splatoon 2, two new movement abilities. Better lobby, cleaner models, new weapons, gear abilities, specials...Feels and plays way different than Splatoon 1 or 2.

Considering how disinterested he seems to actually learn about this game, I get the feeling he's going to drop off this game fast, all while thinking he's playing at a high skill level, being blissfully unaware that he's fighting mostly low-level players. =P

In his defense, I think a lot of people that have only played COD or HALO, or any other basic FPS are expecting this game to be no different. But there’s a lot more than just “here’s a gun, put a scope and shoot this person. Biggest number wins” in Splatoon. There’s a lot about this game that makes it fundamentally different from everything else, like what other games allow you to be completely undetected in plain sight by simply pressing the right trigger? No cool downs or anything. And the tutorials don’t really help, they kinda expect you to have played the first and second games like everyone else unfortunately.

As someone who loves this game series, Charlie doesn’t take it seriously enough. Yes it’s colorful squid kids shooting ink, but if you take the time to understand it, there’s so much nuance in every mode. Charlie just seems to be focused on the wrong aspects about this game which is unfortunate because people seeing him play will be their only exposure to it :/

@@RobinsMusic some of the weapons are complimented by using their grenades right before or after an attack. Same with ultimates and know the fastest way to get your special up. Different attacks dish out different amounts of ink which give more special. Especially melee weapons.

I think his knowledge on Splatoon is so low that in his mind he thinks he's good at the game, as that is something that is fairly commen for people who are new to a game (not just Splatoon). He strategy is „talk over the game, and don’t pay attention, so you don’t get scared“ the only reason he doesn’t get scared playing horror games is because he never actually pays attention he’s too busy talking out of his ass.

I was happy to see Charlie play splatoon but I seriously need him to actually play the game as intended. Like, learn the littlest bit. He has the idea of "I'm going to ruin kids nights." but they're destroying him and in response he says "Unlucky." Watching this was quite the infuriating experience, I want to see him understand the game but idk if he will continue playing before he does? Use motion controls man. Kinda sucked to see him using sticks in the world premire and now cuz with sticks you end up getting your skill capped for obvious reasons of not being able to respond as fast as others. It's better to just use motion and get used to early than having a massive disadvantage against most people.

I think for new players sticks are definitely fine, then after they're used to the game they can slowly adjust to motion controls.
@@emelia1435 motion takes a long time to get used to, it took me 40 hours to get used to it in Splatoon 2, story mode and salmon run are really good for getting used to motion if your interested in them

I know playing up the whole "I'm the best" act even when he's stumbling is his whole thing, but this was just painful to watch.
Edit: to clarify I love charlie, but I can't watch his playthrough videos cause the persona aggravates me too much. It's just not my cup of tea 😅
Be mindful, I am certainly not the best Splatoon player in the world. But I'd like to point out some GLARING flaws in Charlie's playstyle that have just been bugging me.
First of all, he underestimates his opponents. A lot. He goes into fights without any knowledge of his weapon, where he should stand, when it's not worth it. Second, his aim is shit. I know it feels weird now, but use motion. Max sensitivity. It's the only way you can get good at this game. Sticks is NOT how you get X Rank.
People playing Splatoon are NOT incompetent kids most of the time. They know what they're doing, especially at higher ranks, and Charlie's agressive ink-before-thinking playstyle won't suffice.
Third of all, FOCUS ON OBJECTIVE. Ink turf.
But don't go too far when you get into Anarchy. Don't grab the Rainmaker when half your team is down. It's not smart. Don't ride tower when there's already three other people riding. Don't grab clams where there's enemies. And be strategic about how you take over a zone.
Max sensitivity, really? Ive been S+ in Splatoon 1 and 2 and I've never gone close to max sensitivity

I really don’t like the feel, I used them for a couple hours and I hated everything experience with them. I feel more in control and calm when I was sticks with Motion controls it makes me feel very uncomfortable when aiming and shooting
Anyone else feel disappointed with how Charlie handled Splatoon 3? It just felt like he was dismissive of the game overall, and he barely tried to understand the mechanics of the game. When he gets splatted for making poor plays, he just blames it on luck. As far as I know, he barely touched Salmon Run, and refused to play story. Any of his more casual fans watching this will probably never give this game a chance.
My favorite part is when he called his opponents children, then got his shit rocked and just said "unlucky."

Do not fall for the motion control propaganda! Literally every pro uses it to make quick camera turns and whatnot. You might be doing well now but if you go in a higher ranked lobby everyone is going to have motion controls enabled and absolutely dominate while your stuck either where you are or have to learn the ENTIRE motion control setup, something you could have learned at the start..

I was initially happy when Charlie started playing splatoon, but he’s just kinda taking the piss out of the game at this point. It’s hard to watch.
He really needs to be taken down a notch lol. He uses blaster and fucking stick controls, gets 3 kills average, dies every 15 seconds, and then says he’s unlucky when he loses. All whilst demeaning the game and it’s players by saying it’s for kids only.
He should at least watch a fucking Twitter clip of decent splatoon gameplay or something. It would clear all his (and his audience’s) misconceptions about the game up, and maybe he wouldn’t have such a dogshit attitude.
Splatoon’s presence in the shooter-game world is so niche and unknown. Having him play this game in front of his massive audience is genuinely huge. But with the way he’s playing and commentating on it, he’s ruining it’s reputation for literally millions of people. He’s making it look like utter shit. Play the fucking game right or don’t play it at all.
I understand how and why he appeals to people; like I'm genuinely not surprised or confused that he has as big of a following that he has. I just personally have never bought into him as a content creator/streamer that I would even remotely enjoy. From what I've seen on numerous occasions, he tends to do this same exact thing (have a preconceived notion about a game, topic, etc.) and then just submit the bare-minimum when it comes to understanding it.
He comes off as pompous, arrogant, and uninformed. Not like that matters to those of his fanbase that will, in a braindead fashion, copy and paste his opinions into their minds. But hey, he's above this little kid's game; he's clearly not doing anything wrong when it comes to playing (noticed he hasn't learned how to even superjump until like..halfway through the stream, lmao).
I'm a fan of this game because of the unique take on the shooter genre, yet I've never played any of its series. Seeing Charlie making unnecessary rants and labeling it as "children's" game is infuriating to watch, especially to such a large audience. Also he has skill issue if you ask me, complaining he got unlucky lmao.
