  • Showing how to install and use the Bosch RA1165 Router Base in a RA1181 Router Table.
    Always make sure to release the lever before trying to use the fine adjustment of the Router height!
    Otherwise you might damage the adjustment-mechanism.

    Jesus Christ, Thanks! I couldn't figure out why the fine height adjustment wasn't working. I didn't pull the router down to re-engage the release lever like at 3:11

    Also worth mentioning that this mount uses larger bolts to mount the base.

    Has anyone had trouble getting their Bosch router into the base? Mine is SUCH a tight fit and seems to get stuck every other time. Super frustrating.

    My router kit came with the fixed and plunge bases, but there were not extra screws for mounting underneath to the Bosch plate.
    What sizes are the screws that are needed?
    Are they countersink or pan head screws?
    Thanks

    I live in Europe and this model of the milling machine is not available here. You can buy it in the USA but there is a problem, in the USA it is 120V and in Europe 230V. I heard that there were also 220V models of this milling machine in the USA, but I can't find anything on the internet.

    • @andrewford80
      @andrewford80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a similar one for the GOF1600, that has the built in low voltage interface. In some countries it's called the GKF1600. It's not very good, but there are no other out of the box solutions. I'm sure you probably know this by now, but in case anyone else comes along.

      The base comes with two sets of screws.
      The three 3/4” screws are 10-24.
      The four 20mm screws are M4.

    I've had this base for 4 or 5 years now.. i find the fine adjustment stupid - having to disengage/re-engage the big lever/clamp is both a pain and also often screws up the "fine" adjustment you just made. Very disappointed in Bosch for this crap.

    • @andrewford80
      @andrewford80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yeah its a terrible design. I haev the exact same problem. It's also not a sturdy enough design to really "lift" the router. It struggles with the mass of some of the bigger ones. Also very disappointed with this

    • @Vid_Master
      @Vid_Master ปีที่แล้ว

      I just got mine - it flat out doesnt work. My old router broke and I was hoping to be able to get this new one and finish a batch of wooden mallets to give people as Christmas presents, nope now I have to return this router, the fine height adjustment doesn't work at all, and im a very handy guy, ive tried everything and the fine adjustment just spins freely.

    Pain in the ass trying to get that router into the base, had I knew this I would not have spent $350+ for this router and the table, really poor design

  • @satman1w

    Money thrown in the wind! Almost 2 years ago I bought one (GMF 1600 which includes GOF 1600 router and two router bases) from Amazon, and RA1165 DOES NOT WORK from day one!! When you try to set the position screw, it pulls (or pushes..) just one side of the router, and the other stucks in the base and it does not move at all. Very poor manufacturing and extremely bad construction. Do not buy!!

    • @NeverBeenThereBefore
      @NeverBeenThereBefore 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably you're not releasing the big clamp/lever.. totally understandable that you didn't, but that's why. See my comment further up, this is a stupid router base for that reason

    • @satman1w
      @satman1w 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NeverBeenThereBefore - unfortunately, you're wrong. I did it all by the book, but the router just does not slide through the base...

    • @andrewford80
      @andrewford80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@satman1w Yeah I have the same issue. It isn't sturdy enough to really lift the 1600. It's too heavy and is kind of lopsided. When I'm lifing, I reach under the table and give it a push on the bottom with my spare hand. Kind of defeats the purpose of above table adjustment.

      I'll definitely go for something like woodpeckers PRL V2, but it has to be ordered directly from USA and original price of 400 USD will grow to at least 800 when it will arrive to my workshop.... sad but true...
