From the surprising amount of fruit to the carbs that you won’t find in a hamburger, let’s take a look at what you’re really eating when you eat a Beyond Burger.

What a lot of vegans don’t seem to understand about beyond meat and impossible burgers is that their products were not originally marketed towards vegans/vegetarians. It was marketed towards meat eaters. So I hate hearing them complain about how close these products look to meat. Well that’s the whole point. You don’t have to eat it. Meat is delicious, but if you can make a meatless product that is very close in taste and texture to meat, then I’ll gladly give it a shot.

I tried a Beyond Burger and it was delicious. It tasted good, filled me up and felt satisfied.

From the extra fibre, my gut exuded more gas than usual. I suffer diverticular disease, and my digestive system tells me exactly what I need to know. My mind or brain was also not fooled, due to the missing nutrients that are present in grass fed beef.

So as a hunter, let me tell you what "processing" really means at it's simplicity. If you kill an animal, and then skin, gut, hang, then butcher. The butchering of the animal is processing. That's why when you drive by a butcher shop a lot of times they will have a sign saying "Deer and Hog processing"

Vegans don't eat beyond meat on the daily. Ask any vegan (that's been vegan for more than a month), and they'll tell you they make they're own fake meat if they have to, otherwise they get protein from other sources. Also, products like beyond meat are made to make it easier for people to transition from a meat based diet. Whether you eat beef or beyond burgers every day, you have a problem regardless. Btw, did you know mushrooms, beans and lentils exist. Woah, this is some new info for you eh?

Texture and cooking-wise, Impossible blows beyond away. I think these fake meats are temporarily a nice alternative for vegetarians, but in the not too distant future, I believe printed or lab grown meat will offer an almost perfect clone to meat patties.

I think we're pretty far away from that to be honest. Lab results are meaningless. There has to be an industrial grade process or there's no way to make it economically viable. This probably will get there one day, but we're still in the infancy of all of that. I'd say that's still a solid 15 years off. Maybe more. Beyond is going to be around for quite a while.

After being vegan 7 years, then adding eggs and cheese the past 2 years, I have come full circle and have added Grass fed beef to my diet. While I used to enjoy an occasional Beyond burger, I never really thought of it as healthy. I still eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and plant based meals, but adding eggs, cheese, and meat on occasion feels right for me. Eating things like fake processed cheese, meat and eggs, is not healthy. And I still feel great with tha addition of some animal products.
