It was very tough game but I managed to complete it few times. I always used those $-marks as they gave five second invulnerability each. Certain bosses could then be defeated easily by just touching them. Hard part was to "escort" them long enough. Thanks for the memories!
With that star weapon this game is much easier. Damn, I didn't know you can get something like this, my dad used get quite far in SWIV. I beat the game but I was cheating.
The individual graphic elements are beautifully drawn: top marks to the artist. But, by God, the 16-colour palette is exceedingly drab: there's a LOT of dark brown and grey. Really drags the whole thing down. Lots of stuff happening on screen - but it's going at only half the normal frame rate - a result of every flying object having its own shadow, I guess. A thumping soundtrack is an essential component of this type of game - but SWIV has none, which makes the game a little depressing. There are some very good technical achievements in SWIV - but overall I prefer Battle Squadron with its 32-colour graphics, silky-smooth frame rate, horizontal+vertical scrolling and its brilliant music. Sure, Battle Squadron has its flaws too - but it's more fun to play.
too many games likes these on the amiga and too many platformers. the real break throus were the ones that were nothing like this, but then i loved the secreat of monkey island. some of my friends - in trade now - thought it was the most boring game ever.

I always loved the spacecraft making the cropcirkel at 16:40! Great longplay. Brings back the old days.
16:50 - UFO takes off leaving crop circles. Always thought that was a great touch
Disk was always reading during the game. There was no loading screen, amazing technic.
playing this on my A500 back in the day was glorious

I only played this with cheats on, with a buggy cracked ST version which always crashed at the same point near the end. :-/
I admit I've played it with the cheat for endless number of lives :)
