It's a shame this game never got the attention Beast 1&2 got, as it's by far the best in the series. Heck, this one is actually a fun game and not just a pretty tech demo.
I enjoyed 1 and 2 a ton. The snes version and pcengine of 1 and the sega cd version of 2 were amazing. Clunky? Yes. But so were most games back then trying to do something new. It was beautiful.
My history with this game is quite amazing. Back in the day there was a small computer shop we bought our Amiga games for. The owner would allow trades of games if they were around the same value. This was one of the games we traded for. This my tied-for-second favorite Amiga game (the other in the slot is the amazing Agony), the game we traded in for this one being my absolute favorite, Leander, which was developed by Traveler's Tales (yes, the lego games guys) and published by... surprise, Psygnosis. Want my childhood in one word? Psygnosis.
best gaming soundtrack ever. love it ! especially first part. so good. amazing how big the music for games was back then. it's not only this title, many other
I really loved that game as a kid, one of my favourites. Its difficulty was accessible and puzzles logical. And the graphics, music and the eerie climate of the game were sooooo good.
Very underated game for the Amiga, it combines the best of SOTB 1 and 2 and wraps into something thats hard but fair . . . ish. as usual the presentation is flawless. They really nailed the controls with this one compared to the prequels.
Amazing game. I bought it when it was released. Wish I had a guide to go with it, as it was pretty hard! But not impossible like the other Beast games.
I remember buying this game on a Thursday night back in '92. I would have been 15 at the time. Mum would do grocery shopping on Thursday nights and I would tag along, usually hanging around the Games World store and newsagents. I saw this one on the shelf and it was one of those big box games so I was excited to get home and play it. Told my best mate about it the next day and he was keen to come round and play it too. Man I wish I could be 15 again... life was simple back then :)
I get your feeling and I would like to relive my youth as well. But even if you were suddenly back that age and in that time period again the experience would be different. (for one you would know most of the games that would be new then, taking away any surprise and discovery) But to be fifteen now again, that would be nice.
Wicked artwork on these games! Psygnosis always used to have class soundtracks aswell! Ive never played the 3rd as Ive never owned an Amiga but love the original game. Though it seems a shame most of the enemies in Psygnosis games are inanimate, the atmosphere/ intrigue and unique stamp of these games is timeless.
Wow this game looks AMAZING! I'm into all things retro but this PC/system came out 4 years before I was born. I'm more a Ninty and sega generation kid. The music is also amazing. The are and way the character moves is also really different. i like this A LOT! Even the enemy placement and way they react is WAY ahead of it's time. This is AMAZING!
Good game this, when you talk about your favourite Amiga games, well, it has to be included in this list. Speedball 2 Chaos Engine It Came From The Desert Leandre Turrican 1,2 &3 First Samurai Apidya Project X Agony Wolfchild Anothet World Flashback IK+ Cannon Fodder Walker Sensible Soccer Kick Off 2 Jim Power Gods Magic Pockets Body Blows Full Contact Panzas Kick Boxing Xenon 2 Stormlord Moonstone
Hmm, Aarbron gave his foot a lethal massage at the climax of Shadow Of The Beast 1. As for what became of his legs and torso between then and the final game in the trilogy, your guess is as good as mine.
i never knew there was a S.o.t.B 3. It sure has come a long way since the first. I was Shocked when I had heard PS4 made a remake and the clips i seen were amazing!
I was 9 when I got it, it kicked my ass at first and even made me depressed , but it made me want to come back for more, once I beat the jungle one, it was the easiest since it was mostly arcade action I little by little overcame the rest, the riddles had me thinking and figuring out how to do them felt amazing , there were no guides back then or at least I had no access to them, never got any magazines. I still play it from time to time, once you know what you are doing you finish with all 3 lives intact
For YEARS Sony owned the game studio that developed the original Shadow-of-the-Beast series, just to close it and develop a new Beast-game with another game studio which is nothing but a boring reboot... We only can imagine now, how Shadow of the Beast 4 made by Studio Liverpool would have been...
The reboot is actually quite mediocre. There are bits of the atmosphere of the original, but you're constantly taken out of it with the score and text all over the screen, making it kinda silly and quite arcadeish. There are some good ideas there, but the story itself is kinda redone and sometimes quite confusing, even more than the originals. You chase Zelek to get your sister back after you recover your freedom, and half way through the game she just disapears. Also, the final fight against Maletoth, was quite lame, as you don't really fight him, it's more like him piloting a huge demon monster, but then he shows weak and frail. I don't know, there are some good ideas in the reboot, and I like the new design for beast Aarbron, but in the end it just went under everybody else's radar due to its mediocrity.
The reboot was something of a retelling of the first game, hence why you fight a big ugly thing at the end of the game and you can even get the original ending by choosing to become human. The only text that was in the way in the reboot was mostly due to the hint system being on, but if you mean numbers during combat, then I could understand.
man, this game requires even more acid than the previous two, and i thought the second one was drugtastic. only ever played and beat the first one (no guides or help back then). the second one i never beat because it's so random and unclear. this one looked like a slight improvement, but i never even knew it existed until now.
How did this game get past me? I had the other 2 games! Not too many places sold Amiga games back in the day. Software Etc. had a small selection and the other retailer that carried Amiga software was over 10 miles away.
sieht ahnbar aus, leider hab ich niemals amiga 500 gespielt, ist komplett an mir vorbeigegangen schade eigentlich grafik und sound sind echt beeindruckend looks awesome but i never ever played an amiga 500 game back in the days, it completely passed me by that's a pity, graphic and sounds are imprssive
Some clever use of puzzles, and I do like some of the individual sprite assets such as rocks and trees, and some of the enemies. In my opinion it lacks the appeal of the first Beast game which had a more cohesive look and feel to it, not in the least thanks to David Whittakers incredible music and Roger Dean's otherwordly art and lettering. Shadow of the Beast was weird, strange and creepy in the best possible way. Shadow of the Beast III is all of those things but in a bad way. The protagonist in SotB 1 is a cool, scary looking anti hero. The savage cave man type of SotB 2 is a bit less awesome, but atleast feels somewhat congruent with the SotB universe. In SotB 3 you play as some hobo looking guy with a flabby dad bod who looks like he is about to take a piss in the local park and yell at pigeons.
The music and intro on Beast 3 is a big step back from 1 and 2, but gameplay wise, Beast 3 is the best of the three. The first two played more like fancy graphics demos.
It's a shame this game never got the attention Beast 1&2 got, as it's by far the best in the series. Heck, this one is actually a fun game and not just a pretty tech demo.

The music in the Beast games are awesome! and the death screens
Ironclaw is a BEAST
I love the soundtrack. Beautiful
The only thing this series ever had going for it was it's music.
@@nazz1979 Wrong. SOTB2 acually had both good music & gfx. Nr 1 & 3 they should never released however..
@@nazz1979 Um. And graphics. These 3 games are possible the most impressive looking Amiga games in history. Too bad about the sub par gameplay.

Yes! Amiga owner here I loved Shadow of the beast 3! Psygnosis had the most beautiful environments in their games!
Nothing beats Ufo enemy unknown for me, but this is up there with my favorites for sure :)
I hope you guys didn't look past the amazing Sega and Nintendo consoles.

This game came with my Amiga 600, Man I loved it! Good times.
Go big strong muscle man with your Zorro hat!
This game is dark... And I'm not talking about the colors.
this is the less random shadow of the beast I ever saw
Even seems
logical in some points
Klimat tej gry jest niesamowity. Chociaż trzeba przyznać, że ciężka w cholerę, dawniej bez opisu nie dało się tego przejść

I bought this Game in Cracov in 1993 year. I was read opinion about this game in C&A magazine in 1992. This game is great.
2 had the best intro; this one, as im checking it out right now here, has the best mechanics of the three
The music is so beautiful.
Better ending than 1&2 at least.
But I have to ask, why was Maletoth just a head with two arms floating about?
RagingImpaler Because he's a video game final boss.
@@Boltscrap That's not good enough lore.

thanks for this. I didn't realise there was an III

I was younger, never could get past that puzzle part
NO! I DON'T KNOW WHAT! TELL ME!
I had no idea there was a part 3. Cool.
Nor did I was it towards the end of my Amiga days
Super Gra. Great from Cracov Poland.
Yea, I'm originally from Cracow too!
9:25 hit the bong too hard
This is the only 1 of these games I never got to play growing up. I need to pay another visit.
How come I missed this game had this come out towards the end of my Amiga days??
I don't know what and don't call me Shirley!
Yeah. Who da hell is she?
I was trying to remember the name of this, played this as a kid on my dad's old Amiga!
This game was so hard

Looks like a great game.
Would love a remake - proper remake - of all 3 games. Where the story made some sense ...
1st time ive ever seen the game beat, thank you :)
liking the music in this
Fort dourmounth have the best set piece of the game and also a very unique soundtrack!
Gee amiga kicked arse back in the day.
Sliding block puzzle is where I would give up immediately.
Juegazo!!!
That puzzle with the fish took me over 2 hours when I was 12. I kept at it. 2nd time I beat it was worse somehow.

While Sony did do a dick move, at least the reboot is actually rather well done and nothing but a labor of love.

Thanks for longplay!
So this is where Ninja Gaiden's Windmill Throwing Star came from.
Ninja Gaiden predates Shadow of the Beast.
Great game!
if just the other 2 were good as this gameplay wise
Except for the character animations, the first one was far more beautiful IMO...
And played like shit.
Best of the 3.
hurray for iron clay, he played all 3 games
*he also played lorna*

I wish they make this game for the genesis, i have shadow of the beast 1 and 2 it would've been nice to see 3 to have a physical copy!
It looks good👍
15:02 and forth was freaking hard for me back then :P
I love Beast 1, 2 and 3
How did this game get past me? I had the other 2 games! Not too many places sold Amiga games back in the day. Software Etc. had a small selection and the other retailer that carried Amiga software was over 10 miles away.
I used to get pirate games with cheats on I used to send ten blank discs to a fella in Europe somewhere and they would send back 9 with new games on
I remember this game from back then. That shit was leet as fuck.
super game of amiga age :-)
Comparitively short huh? I never finished it, always assumed there was more. I swear Beast 1 and 2 both took a good hour or so to clock..
I never managed to resolve that fish tank tile puzzle.
I asked my daddy, he's strong in this kind of puzzle. It was more than 20 years ago...
could we have stereo sound?
TRY and play at 5:12 without moving back and forth your head to the music, just try (I can't)
sieht ahnbar aus, leider hab ich niemals amiga 500 gespielt, ist komplett an mir vorbeigegangen schade eigentlich grafik und sound sind echt beeindruckend

Wow it kinda reminds me of Shinobi.
I'm trying to play this on vice is there a better way
18:18 Ian Gillan? Is that you?
GFX wasn't as jaw dropping as it was in the 1 part, the music wasn't as brillant as in 1/2 but the gameplay was the beast, without any Shadow.
Ich frage mich ja, wer all das wirklich ohne Komplettlösung herausgefunden hat...?
Daddy draw this for me ;-)
who the hell is Tony Parkes? lol
The music and intro on Beast 3 is a big step back from 1 and 2, but gameplay wise, Beast 3 is the best of the three. The first two played more like fancy graphics demos.
What? Was there a 3?
3:45 my fucking god.
14:00-15:10 Fuck!!!! :)
"10 times better than Shadow of the Beast 1 and 2." = So not true! SotB 1 & 2 much more epic!
no floppy disk sounds. disappointed
who is those 8 dislike so wondering
This time you win maggot lol jk
I still belive the music is beter than the game......😐
Player character doesn't look as good as in SOTB 1/2, too bad.
The main character looks like Ace from One Piece.
This game is so shitty with so many stupid tasks and badly coded....even for the time it was released
Badly coded ? I don't think so. tasks are quite cool !
