Ain’t that ironic. Aang first hallucinated and saw Toph in a white dress in a swamp before actually meeting her and here Korra is..in a swamp and Toph happens to actually be there.

AFTER she took part in a local earth bending tournament, which is where Aang really met Toph...
Book 4 _really_ knows how to bring all the narrative threads together. Pretty much everything in this season is built on something that previously happened in the franchise. There's so many examples in the first two episodes alone, like the Air Nomads innovating for the first time in 200 years because they finally have a living culture again.
While I love Iroh and Zuko, Toph’s reveal in Korra is so good. Her voice, her attitude, her nicknames, it’s all there. I guess in a way it still FEELS like the Toph we know, where as a character like Zuko has clearly aged and matured through being fire lord.
She didnt change a bit.

While Katara and Zuko have changed a lot. That being a good or a bad thing depends on the viewer

And she comes in with a classic "Toph is blind" joke. Nice to *SEE* you again twinkle toes.

This episode is a powerful depiction of PTSD. I haven't really seen any other animated show tackle the subject matter (at all), especially in such a way. Just as "Zuko Alone" brings the audience closer to what drives Zuko, this episode really understands Korra at her core, and the mental blocks that come from being poisoned and buying into the belief that the world doesn't need her anymore.
Steven Universe Future is also about PTSD, but that's the only other one I can think of.
"Korra Alone" was a play on the ATLA episode "Zuko Alone". Korra and Zuko have always been very alike imo..

Katara was kinda hotheaded like Korra so i think that’s why she doesn’t take korra’s outburst personally
She was most of the time very calm actialy, the only 2 times she acted before thinking was whit Jet and the killer of her mother. The hot headed person in Angs time was Zuko.

I have to admit, just like you fellas, I was happy to see Toph again.
So, yeah, Korra is still a little weak after 3 years of recovery, but at this point her biggest problem is her head isn't in the game. Toph is going to help, just remember that Toph is not a gentle teacher, so there's only so much Toph can do for her.
It's funny, in a way, how we cheer on Korra the way we do. Despite her being fictional, something about her just feels real. And after spending as much time with her as we have, seeing her down like this? Ya' almost need her to get back up.
Also, fun side note, the episode's title is a play on the season 2 episode of Last Airbender called "Zuko Alone".
After 3 years of people pampering her, doing all they can to solve her problems for her, Toph's harsh "you gotta fix your shit on your own, only thing I can do is tell you how" attitude is the one perspective Korra hasn't had. It certainly won't work for everyone in every respect - but for someone as headstrong as Korra, it can be an effective way to build confidence.

this is perfect poetry, in the last airbender if you remember we were first introduced to toph in aangs vision.....now 70+ years later we are first introduced to toph in legend of korra in the same swamp.....ik they prob didn't know they would do this but this was beautiful coincidental poetry.

You know noting of poetry. It woud be more poetical if the swamp woud be more linked to Toph or she was more spiritual. The reason she is there is because she wants to be alone and this was the best place and not because its spiritual or it having a conection to her. She fills the trope of the wise hermit that lives in a cave or swamp, just like Yoda in Star Wars. For Yoda it was petical because he was spiritual and Dagoba was a place clolse to the force and on top of that it was mainly linked whit the dark force while Yoda was in the light.
