  • Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

    This is where my husband and I stay. This video is comforting. Also, thanks for talking about and walking down to show the houses on the Soi 79 behind the guard-house. I was hoping that little area might reveal a short cut to other streets back there...but apparently not.

      I think you can sneak over to Soi 81, but it's about the same distance to just walk up to Sukhumvit. Have a great trip. Enjoy Cheap Charlie's on Soi 50. My old hangout

    In the two weeks that I was in Thailand I saw three different barbers. Two gentlemen and a lady. Why so many you may Wonder? I went over with long hair and a beard. The first one I saw he took the beard off and trimmed my hair. Excellent job and I would definitely go back and see him again. That was in Bangkok. Next I went down to Hua Hin. I wanted a hot towel shave and a little bit more hair off as it was hot. I saw a lady in her shop and had a great experience. No issues did what I asked and gave me a back and neck massage too.
    When I got to Jomtien Beach I had it with the hair so I went to a third Barber Tony, and had and shave my hair off. He did a good job taking it down with scissors first taking his time before finally shaving. No hot towel shave but that was okay he did a great job and I walked out feeling like a different person. But I think back on my 2 weeks there I never had a bad moment. I didn't spend more than I wanted to, didn't get as drunk as I could have, party but not too much, and came home wanting more. So yeah my experience with barbers is not the same as yours.

      I've had no problems with barbers, other than if you wear your hair a certain way. The number #1 clippers in the back and an inch around the ears is a part of every haircut, unless you ask them not to do it. Thai's will have 5 inches of hair on top, and buzz the sides and back to a zero. That's the local style, so that's what you'll get, unless you break out the translate app. No big deal. Just a heads up

    That lot in On Nut has been like that for a long time, I lived in On Nut in 2001 and it was a little overgrown jungle back then. Also, there used to be some great fish equipment shops on the shortcut street to Lotus or Big C. On Nut has a couple interesting temples, one of them dedicated to the Thai Ghost Nang Nak - if you find it, it'll make an interesting trip for you. Keep up the good work.

    I go to the barber shop at Asoke BTS. I show my Facebook pic to indicate what I want, basically number 1 all over. I usually wait a few months until I have a sweaty mop, so I have to convince them i want it that short.

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Number 1 all over is easy. If you want a number 10 all over, you'll get 10 on the top and 1 on the sides and back. It's almost automatic if you don't have the conversation. The first cut may be 10 years ago. I asked for a half-inch all around. He did that. Then 2 inches of number 1 around the ears and in the back

    Is flooding a problem in this area ?

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Only if it rains! Of course I'm kidding, but yes, when it rains for 6 hours straight you will get a foot of water near the condo entrance. It will drain away in a few hours, but ya it can be a pain. It's rained a few hours a day every day last week. Zero flooding. If it pours an inch everyday for a week, and it will, the storm drains won't keep up in most parts of the city.
      I've stayed in a dozen places in BKK. When it storms, even if it's dry in front of the condo, you might have a foot of water at the train. My On Nut condo was a street that drained fast. Then the On Nut BTS station would have 15 inches of water. Or somewhere along the walk, you will get a foot of water somewhere. We all just roll with some shower shoes in the backpack. No big deal
