- With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet being announced so quickly after the release of Legends: Arceus, the community were wondering if it was too soon for Gen 9 and whether or not GameFreak had rushed this latest Generation. After research, I believed that development for these new Pokemon games actually started all the way back in 2016. I was wrong

It didn't age well, but you have enough guts to come to us after the hype season and after the games came out to admit that you were wrong. It also wasn't alot of bad assumptions to make at the time either, hope you have a great day
The game was rushed and like a lot of other people, I put the game down until after the patches fixed the issues.
But I will say that it's been a long time since I enjoyed a Pokemon game this much. This game will be the first I've ever completed the Dex on!
But I do think it's time Pokemon extended the development time for the games.

We all were Captain! Seriously I was so optimistic about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet but man the disaster of a launch turned out so bad! I still love Pokemon Scarlet I would describe the game as a ugly dish that has some parts that taste good and other parts taste bad.
Yup, if the side dish is amazing but you get food poisoning from the main dish, it ruins everything
This is the first video I've seen from you and I subbed at about the 4 minute mark. It takes a lot of heart to admit where you're wrong and correct your mistakes. AND know why you made the mistake. I really wish we had more people in general that were willing to put in this work.

Kudos for owning up to this. I'm so exhausted with PokeTubers grasping at straws and making hours and hours of content based on confirmation bias and willful ignorance of widely available information. I won't namedrop, but there's more than a handful of PokeTubers that I used to watch over the years but eventually had to unsubscribe and block from my feed because of how often they would lie and clickbait and theorize based on nothing and waste everyone's time. Remember when Sun and Moon were supposed to change everything with alchemy? Remember how Sword and Shield were going to have a whole royal palace how we were going to travel to Kalos in the post-game and Pokemon were going to wear armor? Remember how many PokeTubers pretended Sword and Shield were good games because they didn't wanna lose their audience so they tried to convince everyone that the cuts were necessary and good? Even now, after constant bad takes and inaccurate predictions, these certain TH-camrs are still making the same types of bullshit videos that waste everyone's time and what's worse is if you challenge them on it they'll just hand-wave with a "oh well that's an old video so it's okay" and then do it again. There's better content to make. There's actual real information to research. And it's gotten so bad that it's clear some of these PokeTubers aren't even playing the games they're talking about anymore. They clearly rush through the game so they can make content, and then start filming these theory videos that were already proven bogus weeks before. Like this whole Paradox thing - it took the community barely a week to figure out that the "Time Machine" is more of a dream or imagination machine and there isn't actually any time travel occuring, but that doesn't matter because every PokeTuber has already created multiple videos explaining why/how the Scarlet Paradox Pokemon lived among the dinosaurs in the ancient past, or how why/how the Violet Paradox Pokemon are from a future where all living things have died off. It's just a waste of time. They spend more time on their crazy hair, crazy outfits, crazy setups, persona, makeup, video thumbnails, collabs, etc. than the actual thing they're talking about. Like they used to be players but now they're just cosplaying being fans for the same of TH-cam Ad Revenue and they don't care about their integrity anymore. Anyway.... thanks for making this follow-up video. Hopefully you'll learn from it and not allow certain other TH-camrs to pull you into their sphere of mass delusions and manipulation of the fanbase they claim to love.
I think SV is actually more similar to PLA than people give it credit for (traversal mechanics, how it incorporates lore, Pokémon entirely in the overworld). It’s just that the catching mechanic in PLA was so iconic and fun that people tend to focus more on its absence in SV.

20:59 IMO I would take a six year wait for Gen 10 if it means that the game is playable. Gen 9 probably has the best story since gen 5 or 6 (gen 5 haters come at me) but hot dang its ruined by being unplayable because of all the glitches.
See, things like this make me want to get the game. After the disaster that was BDSP, I held off on buying Violet at launch, which was the first time I'd ever done this. Initially, after the criticism, I was glad and felt like I dodged a bullet, but I know there's also a lot of good elements mixed in.
I'm planning to buy it only when the bugs get fixed, but ONLY if that happens. Otherwise, I might just watch a playthrough. I heard there's a patch scheduled for February, so I guess if it fixes things or at least shows steady progress to fixing things, I'll get it
@@haunted_pixel For me I liked BDSP but was disappointed it was Diamond and Pearl without any Platinum content. I don't know if Ilca was just being lazy or if it was a direct from PC but I didn't like it. The game was fine but it felt like I was playing my DS ROM of Diamond and Pearl and not a remake of the gen 4 games. And here's the thing the story is GREAT (Esp if u're a though

As a bio major I really like that you brought up confirmation bias, we essentially drilled on research to avoid that pitfall because its so easy to fixate on an idea that makes you hype! 15:56 I mean, for what it's worth, I do think what you had initially said is partially true. Sure, Gamefreak very likely has a say in what they make next, but I don't think they have a lot of say in _when_ it comes out. Since the games have to tie in with merch and anime all at once, the games need to come out at a certain time. So, TPC and/or GameFreak really needs to change their work ethic (though I lean more toward blaming TPC).

14:00 - I really doubt that Sword and Shield originally did not include roaming Pokemon and only did it because of Let's go P/E. They are running the same engine and Sword and Shield was definitely forked from Let's Go P/E. The functionality to do roaming Pokemon was already there.
It's really difficult to extrapolate features carrying over to other games because it turned out that Pokemon Let's Go and Sword and Shield were using one engine, Legends Arceus was using another in-house engine, and Scarlet and Violet were using Unity - basically a 3rd engine. And while BDSP is also using Unity, it does not really share any code at all with Scarlet and Violet. So we're really looking at 4 different engines/code bases being used for Switch Pokemon games, which also explains why Pokemon Home does such a horrible job transferring Pokemon to/from each other compared to Pokemon Bank with Gen 6 and 7.
If you want to point to inefficiencies, programming so many damn engines within 1 generation is a pretty big problem. They should have just made the Legends Arceus engine and made several games on that one.
