The commitment and drive of these early actors kept Dr Who alive and well and built a strong base which allowed the BBC with Tom Baker to launch it across the world like an entertainment hurricane that still blows strong today! Vale William Harnell ,Patrick Trough ton and Jon Pertwee.. People talk about Star Trek in hushed reverent tones well Doctor Whio belongs in the same league without a doubt!
Every sentence from Dicks is likely to end with "you see". What a legend.
Yes that's what Barry said you see
'The Three Doctors' is a great story from the Jon Pertwee era. Troughton is brilliant, Pertwee is excellent and Hartnell is wonderful in the cameo scenes. Great story, Great Doctors!
haha, Two and Three bickering at the end is the best
Funny how the Doctor from the mid 60s, Patrick Troughton, had a Beatle haircut :D
I would actually say that Patrick's look for the Doctor reminded me more of Moe from the Three Stooges who started in the 1920's.😜
@@wiseguymaybe I remember some of the Three Stooges stuff they did on television in the 1960s in which they used to make fun of Moe having a Beatle haircut.
On one episode of MST3K, the bots were geeking out on Doctor Who when one of them mentioned 'the Doctor who looked like Moe.'
@@RubesGoodBrainCoffee Now that's funny. Just the same you might say Moe started it and what I understand from George Harrison's sister, who I met once, she said that style was common for young people in England at the time, before the Beatles made it a fad.
Those two had real chemistry.
Certainly one of my favourite serials!
All of them..
John Pertwee: now THAT'S a bow tie!
Its sad he was so ill.
This looks good. I'm glad they have managed to clean up the picture.
Love the version of the theme they have at the end of this, am I the only one who thinks its cool? XD Hope it will be avaiable to download or so!
And this looks like an Awesome speical! I can't wait for it to come out =3
The Three Doctors getting the 2-disc 2Entertain treatment? I can't wait!
All of them
They had great chemistry Pertwee and Troughton
all of them
Both of him! ;)
All of them.
Moe from the 3 stooges was a timelord the Doctor
If they 50t anniversary episode turns out to be a Multi-Doctor story, I really hope Eccleston does decide to return, because I just know that Nine and Eleven would have a very Two-Three relationship.
jo grant I heart you x
@cvrmaniac I Am The Walrus, it was part of the Fab Four's The Magical Mystery Tour Album.
Matt Smith: Thanks for the advice!
@trickstick84 I believe it's Terrance Dicks, then Barry Letts, then Stephen Thorne
To all UK/GB residents, this Saturday evening, at 7pm BBC radio 4 extra are broadcasting 'Who's Doing Who' interviews with actors from sixty three onwards and general overview of the classic serial over those years
The 2ne and 3rd both arguing is the highlight
I thought the opposite. From 1978 the series became softer. As much as I like Tom Baker it was during his tenure that my interest started to wane and continued into Peter Davison and wasn't a regular viewer from then on. They had a great producer Philip Hinchcliffe from 1975 to 1977 whose ideas and approach I enjoyed a great deal. I don't watch the new versions. But the original series ratings were almost halved from 1980 onwards until it's cancellation in 1988.
It's just a shame I don't have more money. Them I would of got this as the new extras look amazing
Patrick Troughton looks like Moe Howard.
Shalise Shaw so does Ian Hecox...well used to...
Troughton his nose is a little more pointy then moe but similar
@trickstick84 It's Stephen Thorne.
@BarryAldridge I think it is the kind of bickering that good friends have.
I remember directing a play and telling the actors that they didn't have say the lines exactly as written. I soon realized my mistake when they complained that they were waiting for certain lines as cues for them to speak. I then told them to say the lines as written and they understood why.
zinki120 That's because bowties are cool
Sorry couldn't resist
How far in advance were these Special Features filmed? Barry Letts has been dead for nearly 3 years now.
Is that Michael Ferguson ?
bit like me and matt lol
Funny how Troughton and Pertwee seemed to mirror the personalities of their respective Doctors. Troughton the improvisor, winging it, and Pertwee the planner, frustrated by such clownish behaviour.
The Beatles turn up everywhere - and everywhen.
eh what its a song by the beatles oh really how does it go-oh please be quiet (trougnton looks put down) :)
"Non farmi girare i Tardis" e "Per un Dottore le dimensioni contano": due giochi di parole intraducibili in inglese ma che non avrebbero stonato in bocca al Terzo Dottore...
you mean from the Three Stooges?
As good as it is early Doctor Who seems to be more childish where as the later Tom Baker to Colin Baker and Mcgann to Smith (not counting Mccoy's era because to me that was quite childish) seems more adult. Am i right?
seven was clildish but eventually became dark rememebr
zac lister Curse of Fenric!!
My boy, William, you need to go watch them all then do tell us if you got your answer.
