Even though he was too sick to be on and had to film his scenes in one room to be shown through a monitor, William Hartnell still brought his A game as the first doctor.
He loved the Role so much
@@c0nvict_pleb174 "I fooled them all! I am the master!😊"
1 showed real quick that he was STILL a savage. "So you're my replacements...a dandy and a clown."
@@DragoonMS”dandy!?!”
“A clow-HEYYYyy!!” 😂
William wanted to appear on stage, but his wife called to tell the directors "no" because his memories was starting to fade away.
"I may call you Jo, mayn't I?"
I think that was the moment I fell in love with the second doctor. THere's something so charming about the smile and the way he asks it of Jo after arguing so vehemently with hismelf.
No, you mayn’t!!
First Doctor: "Oh, so you're my replacements? A dandy and a clown!" Makes me laugh every time. 😅😅
ironically, it never gets old. (no pun intended)
I love the way the second doctor face falls soon as he says that lmao
The three actors had all known each other for many years and Hartnell had worked with both of his successors on various projects !
You can see where the interaction betweeen Ten and Eleven came from. 😂
“You’re effectiveness has now doubled!”
“Halved, more like.”
I love just the sass that is between the different regenerations when they meet, it’s just so funny shspshsj
And it continued between those two in The Five Doctors lol
@@kerravon7530and Two and Six in the Two Doctors
I shudder to think what you’ll do without me!” Miss you Mr. Hartnell!
It's pretty cool that Brigadier Stewart witnessed all the multi-doctor stories. And that his daughter witnessed the 50th Anniversary multi doctor movie.
And she will again in the 60th. Only it seems unlikely it'll be a multi-doctor story this time.
EDIT: Oh well, I guess "The Giggle" was close enough for a multi-doctor story.
@@AndrewChapman So many of the Doctor Who channel’s recents have been to refresh the memory/lay the groundwork for the 60th. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, but I can’t fathom that they’d taunt us with a look at what we can’t have, especially just days before the first episode.
Sorry, but The Two Doctors is a multi Doctor story, but no Brigadier in sight 😢
@@simon1971ableAll Multi-Doctor episodes on an Anniversary
@@simon1971ablenever met Six in canon unfortunately. Dimensions in Time doesn’t really count
The "oh so you've been doing the TARDIS up a bit ? i don't like it" was so legendary, 10 reproduced it
Fitting, since he's the second person to be the doctor after the show was revived in 2005.
All these years later, this is still one of my favorite multi-Doctor stories
my favourite of them i think , first 4 doctors are my favourite
It is and will be the only Multi-Doctor story where all the actors that played the Doctor at the moment were present.
It's a tie with the five Doctors. And Omega... what a great villain.
Troughton is so underrated
Glad Hartnell got to have a minimal appearance at least, but still sad he was too ill to play a larger role. Would love to see a recreation of "The Three Doctors" based on the original scripts where 1st Doctor was gonna be more involved. Especially his interaction with 2nd and 3rd.
It was Hartnell's final appearance.
“It’s a song by the Beatles”
“How does it go?”
😂😂😂
Actually they got the lines wrong.
Never realised how much Matt Smith was inspired by Patrick Troughton.
And I see a lot of Hartnell in Capaldi and a lot of Tom Baker in David Tennant
@@sirvictorgreenblade9469I think I see more of Peter Davison in David Tennant, a direct inspiration
@@sirvictorgreenblade9469I always thought Capaldi was more like Pertwee plus McCoy
@@hickorymccay2994 Capaldi himself wanted to be much like Tom Baker.
I love how you can tell they're the same person even though they both bicker on with their own personality just like how a human could change over time but much more accelerated and obviously without the full body change.
“Call it.”
“Heads.”
“Hard luck.”
😂😂😂😂
“A dandy and a clown!” One of the all-time great Dr. Who lines!
11:45 The way the Brig says "Come along, Benton." reminds me of Captain Mainwaring from Dad's Army.
Still one of my favourite Multi-Doctor stories
A shame Omega is nowhere to be seen in this video, his performance might lean towards the hammy side, what with all the shouting, but I think that adds to my enjoyment of the character
Rip to all the three doctors
Oh! So you're my replacements:
A dandy and clown!
Damn, Hartnell!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I grew up watching Doctor Who in syndication on PBS in the 80s. The Three Doctors was always one of my favorite serials.
You can't tease us Americans with something so freaking cool like this and then not let us see it 🥲 this is amazing, and I hope it comes to America some day!
I have it on DVD in the US.
@@aaronmorder1965 I love that, will have to look into it. Haven't had a new DVD since 2012.
This story is phenomenal, one of the best I’d say!
It's a shame this was the closest to a multi-Doctor story with all of the original actors in it.
The Three Doctors had all three incarnations but William Hartnell didn't go on set due to the conditions so he was only on TV but at least he did the photos with Patrick and Jon.
For The Five Doctors, Richard Hurndall played the First Doctor due to William passing away and Tom Baker didn't reprise the Fourth Doctor as he said it was too recent after his departure for being in the role for seven years.
The Two Doctors and Time Crash had the current actors of Colin Baker and David Tennant interacting with a classic incarnation played by the original actors, Patrick Troughton in one case and Peter Davison in the other.
Day of the Doctor was meant to have Christopher Eccleston reprise the Ninth Doctor but instead had John Hurt as the War Doctor so it wasn't quite The Three NuWho Doctors we all wanted but it was close enough.
Twice Upon A Time had David Bradley playing the First Doctor.
Richard Hurndall was chosen because he had already played the first Doctor on stage.
Dimensions in Time
@@8LiterallyJustTheNumber8 Which I think featured Daleks on stage.
Tom Baker has since expressed regret at not doing The Five Doctors. I stopped watching during Capaldi's time because it was, uh, not good. Might have to watch Twice Upon a Time, though. Didn't know it was a multi-doctor episode.
@@astrosteve Give Heaven Sent from Capaldi's era a look, but he is a bit of a Marmite Doctor.
I watched this along with some other Pertwee and Troughton episodes when I was younger and trying to get into more classic Doctor episodes. And it absolutely captivated me. The Three Doctors is probably my favorite classic story, I was stoked when they referenced it in Rings of Akhaten.
I haven't seen Rings of Akhaten in a long time, what was the reference to The Three Doctors?
If we were to leave things to you, my dear fellow, we'd be in a fine pickle, wouldn't we?!
Glad to see (most of) the classic Who series now available on Tubi!
Oh, so you're my replacements, a dandy and a clown! 😁❤️
I have been watching this clip and I feel so happy, thanks 🙏
Aand when Jon Pertwee regenerated into Tom Baker, brigadier said "(expletive deleted) here we go again! 😬🙄😁😎🤗
It’s really quite simple. I am him and he is me!😂
The first of the multiple Doctor adventures. I just watched it again recently and it's still lots of fun.
From that first scene with Patrick Troughton you can easily fall in love with him.
This is completely awesome love this episode
Amazing and brilliant episode this was ❤
The best celebratory story to this day! Uncle Terry and the Bristol Boys really outdid themselves. And dear Bill was spell-binding as ever! ❤❤, ❤❤, ❤❤!
I mean let's be fair this is like the standard when it comes to generational crossovers in Doctor Who. :3
This is a proper anniversary story
"The dandy and the clown"😂😂
"Oh, so you're my replacements . . . huh! . . a dandy and a clown!"
This is quite an important episode that's set the standard right through to today.
It’s still funny and puzzling how the doctor never sees eye to eye with himself lol
Sad to know that this hartnell final episode.
yes but it's nice he was able to participate to the degree he did.
sad that they used the tv monitor that reflects the glare unlike cso they use in the time monster and cant remember whether they actually used the montior screen because series 11 and 12 had no tardis scenes apart from death to the daleks
I can say that this definitely one of my favourite Jon Pertwee episodes.
I love the bickering of 2 and 3
Ah, so begins the illustrious tradition of the Doctor bickering with themself.
A revolutionary story that paved the way for future multi-Doctor stories.
Despite all being mature men in Edwardian garb, the Doctors still seem to reflect their eras: Troughton = Beatles/mod, Pertwee = glam rock
RIP to all the major characters except Katy Manning and John Levene. All the supporting cast had passed away, Mrs. Ollis was the last surviving member (died in 2023).
Koo-koo-kachoo!!song by the Beatles.

"I can see you've been doing the tardis up a bit hmm I don't like it"
imagine what he would have said to Jodie! Brilliant!
11:45 i love it everytime he does that
a great episode so it is
Was the interrupting intentional? Because i dont feel like Troughton and Pertwee interrupting eachother or Benton interrupting Jo was in the script 😂
What you would do without me .😢
At first, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee didn't like each other because they had very different acting methods. Troughton prefers to ad-lib, while Pertwee prefers to stick to the scripts. Ultimately, they settled their disputes and became long friends. They continued their mock arguments in Who conventions until Troughton died.
I hope Omega gets a revisit in the Ncuti Gatwa era.
And, Sutekh
That would be INSANE BRO... Having Omega be more calculated and vengeful would be amazing. I've always imagined a new suit but similar to the 70s design along with a scene taking place high up (like Anakin Vs Obi-Wan except not as fast paced). Omega goes in for all the strikes with his staff and the Doctor has no choice but to participate and defend himself and those around him by using a rod to deflect his hits. Ncuti is bruised up and clothes are torn and Omega is just throwing hits after hits.
@@SamuelBlack84- He's definitively dead. Maybe something earlier in his history.
if they really are retconning Davros to not be half dalek looking...i'd hate to see what they would do with any other iconic villains...next thing you know daleks cant look like salt shakers and Omega will be a quite dwarf

Pertwee X Troughton!
Jo told this story by whering the 3rd doctor jakit, it shows how much she misses her doctor.

Old hartnell.
Thumbnail looks drip.
The cape Pertwee is wearing was his grandfather's.
Jo really does remind me of Kerry Godliman

9:16-9:45
I had a dream last night that the Doctor's 11 to 14 were in a dark forest and had the consistency of moving watercolour paint
And, 11 had an American accent
The comedy 😂 drama 😮 super acting... Chibnall throwing this out the window!?!?!?
So Hartnell got up from his deathbed to do this story, but Eccleston couldn’t bother coming back to join 8-11 when he was perfectly fine (and still is). Who’s the better Doctor? I think you all know the answer.
there are completely different situations and reasons.
i mean the doctor who production team ruined chris's career for a few years could be a good enouigh reason to never want to work for them again...
Totally different situations.
