I watched four other videos that were trial and error and made the job look so much more difficult. Yours was no fluff, no background music, no editing parts out, and the job only took 20 minutes. Perfectly done. Thank you for showing the RIGHT way to make a how-to video! 💯
I agree with other comments. This was a well-done, no nonsense video. I wish I would have watched one like this the first time I tuned up my Poulan 10 years ago.
Gonna watch it again this weekend, fix my saw. The lines are leaking but why not do the whole thing. Great video as noted several times below. Didn't need the traffic warning at the end ;-)
Awesome. I was literally able to follow this step by step. The hardest part was fishing the fuel line the filter attaches to out of the reservoir - cut a long point on that guy... Oh, I also broke the replacement carburetor trying to jimmy with the throttle cable but was successful in reusing my original carb.
Since all the lines on my saw were rotted off this was very helpful. I also have to say that I've never worked on a saw that was as clean as that one 😊.
Hey man, thanks for your video. It helped me a lot. Im 23 and got this chainsaw on the marketplace for $50, but it didn't run. After replacing the fuel lines, which were in bad shape, it works great now.
Man, I cannot express enough how well done this video is. I have no idea how you managed to get such a good angle on the inside of that gas tank for showing how to feed the lines (which is the hardest part, really). Outstanding content that saves so many of us time and money.
The fuel lines on my Poulan Pro PP4218AVX 42cc chainsaw were rotten and this video helped me replace them. Every step was explained and shown really well. Thank you so much!!!
Great video, very informative and straightforward. My loose fuel lines are now secure and my chainsaw is running great...but now you have me wanting to change my entire carburetor. When that times comes this will be my guide. Keep Crushing Brother!
Great video bro, I have a question. My throttle cable keeps slipping making the carb not engage. I have to reach in the little crack in the saw between the carb breather and handle and slide it forward, but it won’t stay to engage the carb. How do I make it stay? Thank you for the straight up explanational video.
Hey dude. You make it look so easy! But you should slow down and explain what you are doing and why. Some of us are dummies and have never replaced a carb! You probably do it all the time. Thanks!
I ordered the carb for my pp4218A. Installed and pulled the choke out it fired the first pull. Pushed the choke in halfway pulled it again it started but didn't idol. Turned the screw out about 3/4 of a turn started and ran perfect. The carb on it was supposed to be new but wouldn't run right. Now the problem I have is when you put the top cover on the throttle cable get hung on the choke and you can't pull the choke all the way out to where it locks in place. Guess I'll have to figure that out next.
Awesome video man! Great point about the carburetor gasket lining up with the impulse hole. I recently did this exact repair on the same saw and couldn't get the saw to start because the carb gasket impulse hole wasn't drilled properly and covered the hole
Thank you, your video made it easy and it fired right up. It does shut down after running a few minutes and I assume that a carburetor adjustment will remedy the problem. I'm curious, the second carburetor screw, the one furthest from the air filter, what does it adjust and what is the proper way to adjust it? Also, which screw should I be adjusting , given my description?
More than likely you need to turn the one closest to the air filter counter clockwise 1/4 turn or so. The other is low air fuel mixture. I'd stay away from it. Very sensitive.
There was a thicker and a thin line for the primer and fuel pump. Did you not use the thinner of the two for anything? Also the rope chord won’t budge when I assembled it back together.
@@smallengineguys Got it all working. Except now there is smoke coming from the engine. Think the idle is too high, will adjust and see. Also didn’t have air filter in so could’ve been either of those 2 issues
I have this same saw I'm trying to repair for a tenant. I plan on replacing the carb but first I need to figure out how to get the brake lever to disengage. I've taken it apart enough to where I should be able to get to the brake assembly but this model it appears you have to take the chassis apart. Do you have any videos related to this. Any info would be appreciated
Good video. However, I have one complaint. When describing the fuel lines and where they go, do one line at a time instead of getting ahead of yourself and mixing them up. I wasn't able to easily determine which fuel line (small diameter or large) ran where and why. Good video, but could have been broken down in steps more simply. Apologies for the whining...it was still VERY helpful. I've only ever used a chainsaw a few times before, nevermind replacing a complete fuel delivery system. BTW, my efforts (and yours) resulted in success. Thanx again.

The old brittle gas lines broke off in the gas line holes. I'm trying to figure out how to the get the old lines out of the holes. The fuel line holes on my saw are right next to the engine instead of behind the primer bulb like the saw in your video and the holes are also much smaller. I don't think the larger line will even go through them. I know now that I need much longer needle nose plyers.
@@smallengineguys That's what I did. When I pulled in the line that goes to the filter in the gas tank I broke it twice even after I got the line al the way through the hole. I think the gas holes are slightly smaller in my saw. Love the video by the way! It was very helpful.
I can appreciate a straight to the point, no filler instructional video like this one! Obviously you've spent a lot of time around these pieces and it shows! I was confused about the long/short fitting at the p-bulb and that's what put me here. You cleared it up for me. You will.eventually learn that "slight" difference in choke linkage on the aftermarket carbs is a critical issue that can and has caused saws to fail to accelerate. The metal rod and lever used on the after market carbs can skip and prevent the upper butterfly to open. The upper port is the engine acceleration, high speed port and without it the saw cannot be used. The plastic lever used on the OEM carb functions like a trigger, locking carb linkage in position until the trigger is depressed, at which time the locked linkage is released.
