One thing I wish you talked more about was Dabi's personality and how he subverted fan expectations. That Dabi turns out to be a total and complete jackass. Everyone expected him to be like Itachi. The mysterious older brother who watched over Shoto from the sidelines. Prepping him for things to come. Secretly protecting him. Lol naw! Turns out. He hates Shoto. He hates his mother and sister. Sees them all as just Endeavor's items. He isn't nice to his friends in the League. Actually not caring about them at all. At best, he feels a little bad for Twice and has slight respect for Shigaraki. But his only loyalty is to himself. Hori shows us a character can be tragic and understandable while also being so damaged and twisted, there is hardly any good left within them.
Dabi reminds me of Kilgrave. Both have tragic pasts and are sympathetic to an extent, but at the same time they are both pure evil with no shred of remorse left.
To answer some of the most reasonable questions against toya 1. Why wasn't he satisfied with just his mother's love like fuyumi and natsuo were? It's because he was never close to rei like any of them. Look at it, from the start he was his father's masterpiece which fuyumi and natsuo weren't, so he got most of the love and care from enji while fuyumi and natsuo got most of love and care from rei, while toya was not close to rei and neither fuyumi nor natsuo was close to enji. Basically enji was the main source for love and care for toya while rei was for fuyumi and natsuo. Now when enji stopped giving toya the needed love and care and started neglecting him at young age of 5, he is definitely gonna struggle for love and care from enji. Now this is result of bad parenting, cause everyone has their favorite parent at young age but that doesn't mean they do not like the other one. In this case, for toya, rei was basically not important and similarly for fuyumi and natsuo, enji was not important to a certain extent for both cases 2. Why was he so crazy about being hero? Simple. He wasn't getting the attention he needed as a child. Now before continuing, to all the people who consider toya as attention seeking ass child, I think you don't realize that not giving a child the needed love and care is neglection, which, for God's sake, is a fucking form of mental abuse, which is just as effective as physical abuse. Neglecting anyone, especially a child, for 3-4 years is more than enough to cause mental instability or much worse, can turn the victim homicidal or suicidal ( and toya became both ). Now coming back to question, he was going crazy because he was not getting love and care from enji. Now when rei asked enji why he was not giving toya the love and care he used to give he answered that he can only show his children the world of heroes. This as answer to that question automatically says that, for enji, if his child can't be a hero = he, even though loves and care for his children, isn't going to give them love and care. If enji himself believes that, then I think it's not surprising that toya believes that him becoming capable of being a hero = he is going to get love and care from enji. 3. Why did he tried to kill shoto? Now, let's be honest, most of the older sibling had a point in their life when they were jealous of the younger ones. But why? Even when parents give them the same amount of love and care they used to give, and even after parents assuring them many times, why do they develop jealousy? It's because they think, I repeat, they THINK that they will not have the same place they used to have. Now in toya's case, he was not receiving the same treatment from enji he used to get, nobody assured him and he knew, I repeat, he KNEW that now that shoto is born he can never have the same importance because he only had a fire quirk while shoto had both fire and ice. No matter how much he train himself, in enji's eyes, he will never be more capable of being a hero than shoto. 4. Why didn't he stopped training? Firstly, that was the ONLY way to get enji's attention, reasons given in second answer. Secondly, from personal experience, I can tell that a person who is getting neglected NEVER EVER seeks love and care, they seek attention. The difference is love and care is positive while attention can be both positive and negative. What I'm saying is IF toya was to get physically abused by enji in his past, he would be the happiest person he ever had because he won't see it as abuse but as attention, coz in literal sense enji would be beating HIM. Now of course that didn't happen, enji and rei didn't gave the amount of attention needed by a average child but they did gave a little amount of attention, and that was when enji used to scold and shout at him for training, or rei used to stop him from going to train. If you notice in both cases, enji and rei were giving him 'attention' only when it was something related to training ( Enji scolding and shouting at him FOR training and rei talked to him to stop him from going TO training ). But toya saw that his parents, both main one and unimportant one, were giving him 'attention', even if it wasn't the positive one, only when it was something related to training so he was easily convinced that if he continued training = he would continue to get this 'attention' and when he completes his training and makes himself capable of being a hero, he would get the same amount of attention he used to get. Now let me make this one thing clear that understanding, sympathizing and excusing were, are and will remain completely different things. I understand toya, sympathize with him to a certain extent but he definitely should face the consequences for crimes he committed. Also I would say that, I don't think we should express hate or love towards toya, enji or rei based on this current story because we don't have complete backstory for toya. We don't know about his school life, I mean if he behaved the same way he did with family then boy, his teachers must be super ignorant. Also we don't know the most important thing about him. How he died? It can be suicide, highly unlikely, or maybe an accident, super highly unlikely or maybe a planned shit by someone, which is most likely way according to me.
Dabi is the perfect villain because he challenges Endeavor in a way no other Villain CAN because he challenges Endeavor's worldview with his mere existence and he is set up a perfect villain the same way Joker is to Batman in the Dark Knight! Great Video
What Villain do you think Horikoshi Perfected?
twice was one of the best characters hori created, from beginning til the end
Twice without a doubt
One for all
I think most of the villains are great but my favorite is twice
Shigaraki and twice

He's a psychopath, he wasn't always one, but I'm pretty sure having Endevour for a father and almost burning to death could do that.
@@XandriaRavenheart Psychopaths are born that way. Sociopaths are made through external circumstances such as a abusive background.

Props to you you should have more likes
I can't believe I missed reading this comment back then
I think we can all agree that the best storyline from Horikoshi in My Hero Academia is the Todoroki Family Drama.
Only thing i really cared about
Yes he should do more of that
Horikoshi did such a great job setting up Dabi, and picked the perfect time to reveal his identity. Great video
Thank you so much

Gonna be honest. The anime could've done better with that scene where Dabi confronts Endeavor.
EPIC VIDEO can't wait for dabi to show up again
Thank you
Mha is amazing man. Words can’t describe how good this anime/manga is
It was basically a fan theory then to an actual plot twist
I still don’t know why touya color changed to red to white
Most likely due to the development of his quirk since it has been shown quirks can change appearance
And stress from all the abuse from Endeavor
@@zemox2534 maybe that and the fact that his body resembled his mother`s who has white hair
than he died it black lol and theres one scene where his hair looks blue to an extent man said taste the rainbow!
Don't get me wrong, I love the todoroki family, but Dabi seems like more of a consequence than a character, which rubs me the wrong way.
