This is a stealth-drop redux of my very old Green Goblin video. All footage has been re-sourced from original, drastically higher quality material (toggle 4K in your player for highest bitrate), and a Spanish-language track has been added. It’s also now finally copyright safe. Hope this doesn’t cause too much confusion. I deliberately didn’t send it to sub feeds or notifications. It’s not a new video. Just wanted it to exist on the channel in place of the older, lower quality version. :) -Danny
I was very small when this movie came out. I think next to Spy Kids, this is one of my first memories of going to the movies. And let me tell you, Green Goblin was terrifying. Everytime he showed up on screen I slid down from my seat to the floor until it was over. Such a memorable and great villain
Those first two Raimi Spider Man films are perfect. Nobody before or since has ever fully captured the fun of a comic book with the pathos of sincere human drama - we either get just one or the other. And I suppose the reason for this is because Raimi wasn't making a "comic book" movie, he and the rest of the cast and crew were trying to make a good Movie which just happened to be based on a comic book.
You summed up perfectly what I have felt for a while. The series didn't suffer until corporate hands took a hold of the third film. The character and relationship development in the first two films just feels so natural. Disney Marvel's Spider-Man's character development feels so contrived and forced, and I find it really hard to relate to. I always go back to the first two movies to enjoy a real hero's journey. The scene in Spider-Man 2 where Aunt May is packing up her old house and tells Peter that 'there's a hero in each one of us' still puts me to tears.
i don't think that's really true. For example JK Simmon's performance is very much giving comic book. The part where Peter Parker catches his lunch on his food tray . The part where a bunch of executives have their faces melted off. There are too many comic book-esque things in to fit your description. I disagree with you. This was a comic book movie.
Dude, I seriously love your takes on cinema and what goes into making a project. I’ve been watching you for the past year at least, maybe even more since you popped up in my feed as a suggestion and I’m so happy to get to see your content every time because it use me insight into a new way of perceiving something and that’s so important.
Who was Sony trying to fool? Who were they going to get that was at his level of acting? I'm not saying there aren't actors at the same level, but they all cost $$$.
Yeah. I have all these higher quality versions of my very early videos, and I’d love to get them up on the channel for new viewers to find. But TH-cam doesn’t currently let you swap out files. So I intentionally just didn’t have it go to subscription feeds or notifications so that it could hopefully just quietly appear. I mean.. it’s an imperfect system for sure.
Magneto is nearly an anti hero and Deacon Frost is technically a comic villain but also not entirely distinct from just being the big boss vampire. Sortof how all of blade could be a vampire movie unconnected to superheroes. Frost didn't have a costume, Magneto I'll give ya some credit for

I knew it seemed like I'd watched this before, still just as good the second (third?) time though.
thanks D. your videos are still my fav. keep it up. 👍
Oh thank you for the clarification. I was initially very worried that it wasn’t showing up in my subscription feed
When I saw this here I immediately went to Nebula to see if I'd missed it dropping there - but no, it's not there
So when will you drop The Knick?

@@fakesilver746 No, I'm correct: he was making a Movie that happened to be a comic book movie.
@@fakesilver746bro severely misunderstood the original comment 😂
It's for this reason that I can't resonate with the new Spiderman films. There's this plastic feeling around them.
I just watched Spider-Man no way home and wilhelm dafoe absolutely killed it
There has been and there will be only one Green Goblin.
8:09 Cool moves. Emo Peter would be jealous.
I saw Platoon the year it came out. Since that time Willem Dafoe has been one of my favorite actors.
That would be Ferris Bueller's principal in Howard the Duck.

Zero...zero restraint.. Big facts
Deacon Frost erasure
Wilhelm Dafoe is GOAT

Spiderman 1 and 2 will remain the best Marvel comic book movies forever.
An absolute treasure.
Is this new version of the episode not up on Nebula?
I immediately opened another tab to check Nebula when I saw this here, and nope, it's not there, at least not yet
We're just ignoring Deacon Frost?
If you notice in the title, there's the word "basically" instead of "definitively" or "unequivocally"
And the "Dark Overlord of the Universe" from Howard the Duck?

Wack wack
Y’all are sleeping on The Scarab from the 1944 _Captain America_ Republic serial. 😉
That's all well and good, but when will we get a deep-dive on the Riblin
(unless you already did this) Now do a sequel video about his revisit to the character in No Way Home
What about frost from blade
I'm subscribed, but this video is not in my feed, wtf TH-cam
see the pinned comment, all is explained there

It's possible to replace the video, not?
@@CinemaStixAs an avid follower and lover of your videos, I really don't mind. It's just another excuse to rewatch a great video.
Hey your video is not showing up in my subscription list
He did that intentionally, since this is basically a reupload but with higher video quality
Re-upload
yum
X-men? Blade?
What are those ? I have never heard of them in my life

Uh...... no. That would be Stephen Dorff in Blade (1998). Predates spidey by 4 years.
