I can't help but be a little disappointed, in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Jojonium editions there wasn't just a hard cover and new art, it also had extensive character specific interviews that gave genuine insight, this edition is also missing content with the bonus chapters and I think FMA deserved better especially since it's such an important series to the western anime fandom
I would buy the full metal editions if the 3 in 1s weren't waaaay cheaper. I just can't justify spending 3 times as much for a single volume with my budget.
The paper is really thin in the 3 in 1s. Some of mine have torn slightly or started wearing down on the spine. These are significantly higher quality and are actually 1.5 volumes. Don't get me wrong, to each their own, I just felt obligated to express my own experience with the 3 in 1s.
So each of this editions is roughly 1 volume per large book? I noticed edition 12 is set to release on 2/9/2021 so does that mean there’s still 15 more coming?
Viz has released a separate volume of the 4 panel comics including some exclusive ones. I theorise that the bonus chapters will be included in the final fullmetal volume or maybe a separate volume like the 4 panel comics
You're in good company. I'm gonna hold on to my Singapore English volumes because they have a different translation, slipcovers and are out of print. Wasn't going to get the new Fullmetal Edition, but I can't resist a good hardback, especially for one of my favourite series.
Hey great video. can you put both volume spines together and tell me if the spine text line up because idk if i got a messed up misprint but my volume2 is not lined up with volume 1 and its kinda driving me nuts lol.
Oh wow! I actually didn't look at that too closely. It looks like Volume 1 is just a tad bit higher up than Volume 2... but it's only slightly different so I actually didn't notice until you pointed it out! I put Volume 3 next to it as well, and it's height is actually between Volumes 1 & 2 (Vol 3 is a little lower than Vol 1 but higher than Vol 2). Now I can't unsee that XD

Saw these in Barnes & Noble earlier and I think I'll be picking them up. Never read the manga (watched both anime though and loved/preferred Brotherhood) so I'm looking forward to picking these up. And only 18 volumes over 27 is a lot more appealing.
In the original 27 volume release in the US (and I believe the 3 in 1's as well) they also used the translation "Cselkcess" but in the Fullmetal Edition it was updated to Xerxes! Also noticed that the original translation use "Lin" and "Foo" and the Fullmetal Edition updated them to Ling and Fu.

@@thehavocmiranda Haha that is ironic XD The Fullmetal Edition has 6 chapters each volume, so there will be a total of 18 Volumes (compared to the original release which had 4 chapters per book and had a total of 27 Volumes).
My country has this premium edition too, but the one I own (and it's really not represent all of them, since I only have one lol, volume 14 with Winry!) Doesn't have those gorgeous colored pages :(( it only has one, at the very first character art. After that, when it has colorspread or colored first page of the chapter like this one, it's just the good ol' black and white :(( also we don't have hardcover lol. The paper is a great improvement tho, because at original tankobon we had this really cheap gray recycled paper (in my place we use this paper for newspaper), but in the upgraded version of premium we have the paper that used for novels. I think why we have same concept as Viz's with little, uh, adjustments(?) Is because there are not many people who actually can afford it :( it would be super expensive. This adjusted premium version already cost 3 times over tankobon ones, so I doubt if the publisher made the exact copy they will be sold at all lol I Really attempted to buy those amazing babies, even if the cost (I checked its around 20usd?) Is almost 4 times of my premium version 😂 it's super expensive, and it doesn't include the shipping yet😔 why the currencies must be this high and why am I so broke😭 Anyways thank you for explaining in detail about these amazing mangas, it really really helps me to know Fullmetal Edition better!❤️❤️
Mild knitpick, the Fullmetal editions didn't improve the cover art of the original volumes but rather just put changed the covers into a single character

You can also get the 3 in 1 editions, which means collecting 9 instead of 27. They are quite a bargain in money as well :)
