Keith, you gave it a go! I use a raincover, Nylofume bag liner and dry bags and sometimes I can keep my gear dry in Scotland. I have walked the WHW in December for the last 4 years, as its the only time you can get the way to yourself, but it is harder with the shorter days and colder temperatures. But, as you found out, preparation is key. It was still a good watch though.
Great vid. Shows the less glamorous (if there’s such thing as a glamorous side lol) of this hobby. Unfortunately, cheap gear purchased from overseas and budget brands available here in the UK, are often all that’s available to some, and with UK weather, this could be similar to a lot of people’s first experience. Enough to put them off forever.
Definitely. I think the quality of all outdoor gear has gone down over the last few years unfortunately, unless you are willing to spend several hundred pounds. 😅 *Keith

Have a look at some of the DLX gear by Trespass, I know people who’ve used it up on Cairngorm in winter and they’ve been impressed with it.
@@stephenmiller251 Thank you Stephen, I will check them out ☺️ *Keith
