Another question for the poddy boys. From memory, what is your biggest origin blunder that you can remember? Mine is Brett Hodgeson passing that long cutout ball into the middle third of the field, Matt King doesn't catch it, and Locky scoops it up to score and QLD go on to win the 2006 decider.... starting the era of QLD dominance
Interesting point about how Origin is all about moments. I think Billy knows that and it’s why he went with Dearden. His creativity can break a game open at any moment
For me the difference between Morgs & Hayne/Tommy was that he went from a 5/8 running half to a structured Halfback when our lord and saviour got injured whereas the others split teams apart by piling on the points. He completely changed his whole play style and absolutely killed it. One of the best purple patches of footy a cowboys ever produced. I’m still filthy how hard that injury hit him, he’d still be up there with Hunt and Chez right now if it wasn’t for that.
Morning brothers, here the morning after Origin Game 1. Despite the scoreline I think personally we got a lot from that game especially for NSW. QLD did their work and we’re dangerous but NSW showed a lot of heart and if it was 13 on 13 would’ve been a very tight contest. The send off was unfortunate. Feel for Sualii and also Reece. Attackers are losing their legs or slipping away as they make these passes and defenders cop a bad rap even if they are coming in at a good tackle height. They put all the onus on defenders and duty of care but attackers put defenders in vulnerable positions just as much as defenders do to attackers. There were two major mitigation factor in this tackle. 1 the tackle height of Sualii and 2 Reece was falling away from his pass. Attackers do this a lot in these tight high speed situations, they don’t brace for contact and stay solid through the passing action but soften up and fall away. Hopefully Sualii gets another opportunity because he definitely looked like he was gonna kill the origin arena. Shout out Massey Rugby club West Auckland 🙏
The boys! A lot of changes for the WAHS! If they lose this week, do they start looking at what was working(lineup wise) the past 2 rounds and make changes? Gotta feel for the boys who had to make way..
Hey guys was interested in starting up a run club in the Taranaki region in nz I’m just after son info on how you guys do your run club the any info will be a massive help as I don’t know what I’m doing but wannna get this started for own Māori people struggling with health issues plus former rugby and league players to keep active cheers guys
One of my mates, who's 6'4, 115kg of the best at the time that didn't mind throwing a punch or 2, told me once, "straight up bro i aint scared of no one, but whenever Petro walks in the room, he seems taller than a mountain, and when talks, you fkn listened." Question for the boys, who was the player who had that presence or aura about them during your time?
Hey boys, how’s it going! Big fan, L1 from day one. My go to poddy as it drops followed by Kempy and the bloke team. Followed both of your careers indirectly, Willie, I was mates with Ogre in junior footy, he was an Eddies boy and I was a year younger and an Erina Eagle but played reps together and had the same mates outside of footy, so followed his career which you obviously were a big part of. And Scope the Eagles connection with your old boy, although I’d moved on from the mighty Eagles when he was coaching I’ve always followed the club. Anyway question today is, When does the attacking player take responsibility for a high shot? I am speaking about the Sua’ali’i hit on Reece Walsh to start with. I haven’t seen any slow mo’s or anything just what the tv showed at the time. From what I seen JS dipped, moved his head, stayed tight (no swinging arms) keeps is feet and hits all shoulder. (Beautiful technique) Just before contact Walsh begins to slip and drop with no control of his body as he releases the ball. Dropping his height around 3-4 inches also turning his body. Now I know Walsh gets hit on the chin but there is also simultaneous contact on his shoulder. I believe if Walsh keeps his feet and control of his body the hit is all upper body and Legal. You see it in every game these days, a player slips just before contact drops to sometimes half a metre off the ground and gets collected high at no fault of the defender. But still a penalty or time in the bin. I compare it the shit show of this hip drop era! If the defender loses his feet (control of his body) then he is penalised. So should it not be the same in high shots? Should the fault go towards the player not controlling his body? Keep up the great work team
No disrespect to Trbojevic but I think 2009 Hayne stands alone as far as the NRL era. Turbo was undoubtedly the best player in 2021 but his run and Manly’s was greatly aided by the rule changes. He’s obviously had injuries since 21 but part of the reason he hasn’t hit the same heights is that defenses have adjusted and the middle and edges aren’t as open anymore. Factor in that Turbo had way more talent around him compared to that 09 Parra team..it’s comfortably Hayne.
@@owenegbenoma7216 they never said on the podcast that it was only between hayne and turbo. So im just stating that if anybody thinks hayne or turbo had a greater era than GI & Slater is a laugh. Your comment also stated that hayne stands alone as far as the nrl era, i know you said no disrespect to turbo, but that didnt tell me you were only counting them two. GI and Slater both had better seasons in there careers then turbo or hayne they both did more and accomplished more
@@FitnessTripleXXX I see now. Well kind of hard to argue there then, 09 Hayne was spectacular to watch. If I remember correctly that was the year he earned the name 'Hayne plane' or 'Hayne train' & after scoring tries he would hold both arms out in a plane fashion. Turbo did score 28 tries in 2021 iswell so yea cant argue with that then 😅

If a send off occurs, should the 18th man for the team that is losing that player be activated? The player is removed for the remainder of the game, suffers the appropriate suspension but it doesn’t ruin the game
Question for the pod: How are clubs able to identify a "good assistant coach" to become their first grade coach. How can you tell if the results of a successful club came from the assistant?
Talking about fowards, once heard joey said to win a game, your forwards have to dominate and win in the middle that then creates a platform for halves to pull the trigger and win big moments and eventually win the game
Chur boys, love your guys work. If you had to choose a player that would kill it in rugby union who would it be and what position? Ive got Cam Munster as a fullback

Hey lads, I have a question for both of you. Do you think the hip drop has come from AFL? I was watching some highlights, and their tackle technique shows hip drop... I know Willy has said multiple times on the show they just train for hip drops and have no idea where it's coming from. Over the years, I have seen on social media lots of teams training with different codes during the off-seasons. Do you think it's come from that, or subconsciously they've picked up on the technique by watching them tackle in AFL?
Hey lads love the content, was just wondering what are big masons thoughts on young players like blaze tualangi, and the storm #15 another young player complaining when something doesn’t go there way, such as throwing their arms in the air and yelling when a senior player will decide to run and not pass. To me instantly I dislike them you don’t see gutho doing it but blaze will complain like he’s a star

Coming here post Origin match. The real losers last night were the fans who paid to see that crap game. For further clarity, it was shit because of the rules surrounding how red cards work. I can accept the send off, I don't like it, but I get it. My personal opinion is that tackle was fine, Reece slipped and is shorter than Joe, thus the "bad" tackle. But for the sake of the fans, fix the stupid rule where a team has to play down a man the entire game after that. I think here in America, in our union league, we handle red cards with a 20 minute man advantage, the player is ejected, but after the 20 minutes the team is allowed to replace the ejected player. At least do something like that. Personally I would rather just see a 10 - 15 minute advantage with the player still ejected and the team allowed to replace the player. But that was shit for the fans and the NRL needs to consider what will make the fan experience better. Going to games is not cheap.
I've been watching football for over 25 years, and seen a lot of discussion about who is/was the greatest ever player. As a fan of the game, I love to speculate about this. But as former players, when doing your eye test, what criteria would you consider when talking about this? For me, Wally Lewis and Andrew Johns are arguably neck and neck, Joey edging him out due to my NSW bias...both of their abilities to break open games with their attack AND their defence... especially at origin level. It just seems that, even grand finals, tri nation finals, world cup finals... they're just not played at the same intensity and level of skill as state of origin. So how do you talk about the goat discussion when origin rolls around each year? Up the blues 💙 up the doggies 💙 🤍
