G'day boys, long time listener of the poddy. The question i wanna ask is: with the inevitable introduction of an 18th and possibly 19th team, if you were a coach/gm/ceo who would you look to sign to your 17 and who would be your marquee signing? Personally i believe Wishart is a solid shout that i would prioritise signing away from the storm. Keep up the great content lads, looking forward to more finals content.
@@SilentHotdog28 I reckon this season alone wishy might’ve earnt the 6 over Munster. But his ability to play anywhere off the bench and be impactful is probably why he’s stuck on there. Also wishy is a big reason in combination as to why jahrome is in contention for dally m I reckon.
@@MachineGunSniperTV I reckon you're right on the part about Wishy being stuck on the bench, hopefully he doesn't do a cheese and leave because he wants to be a starter. As for the Jahrome part, Wishy has probably been a reason, but Jahrome has been unreal regardless of who is in, so I don't know if I'd say Wishy has been the biggest factor.
@@SilentHotdog28 Yeah i agree with the cheese scenario. As for the hughes part, i meant simply along the lines of the fact that hes paired very well with him and hasnt gotten in his way, which is sometimes a worrying factor when another half is subbed into an already solid halves combo.
Hey lads, Big Lez here, just wanted to double check I’m not crazy here in thinking that the Knights are darkhorses in the finals if they beat the cowboys this weekend. KP, Gagai, Best, Frizzel, Thompson could go to another level. Let us know on the pod if I’ve lost the plot.

Hey lads, absolutely loving this season of the levels podcast, finally mustering the courage to ask a contentious question. Since the dally ms are about rewarding consistency and seasonal longevity, is it time to get rid of the points voting system? I feel in recent years, the award has lost a fair bit of merit because of how inconsistent the voting has been. I would establish a system where you get 20 or 30 of the leagues smartest men to unanimously vote on who the best player was over the set course of 27 rounds. Food for thought as I couldn't imagine someone like KP getting the award on a technicality over Hughes. Would also love to shoot-out the Australian Sporting Cartel and my triple OG Luke White. Having my first BSC energy drink with the goal of being an absolute dawg on the field in my local touch comp.
What an interesting scenario, picking who you play in the 1st week. If I was Storm and had the pick of the bunch, I'm waltzing right up to Ivan Cleary and sticking the finger up and saying "Let's go" haha. Na but in all seriousness, I would want to play Penrith, for many reasons, for starters it sends a message to your players "We aren't doing things the easy way, we want to fight". Then there is the strategic side of things: if we win, we go straight to the Prelim and they have to play an extra match, meaning in the Prelim we don't have to play them, as much as the Roosters or Sharks might be hard to beat, I wouldn't want to play Penrith in the Prelim, I'd rather wait until the Grand Final. If we lose, we still have the 2nd chance, so we go through the back door and avoid them until the Grand Final anyway (provided we win the other matches), so regardless of winning or losing that 1st match, we are taking the choice out of Penrith's hands (who we see as the most dangerous), we are playing them at home rather than away or at a neutral venue, so we get that advantage and we wouldn't have to meet them again until the Grand Final. It's a win win scenario all round. Think about it from a Penrith point of view, going into the meeting you've made plans thinking that Melbourne would pick a lower team so that they get through easily, whether that is the Sharks or Roosters, or going really easy and picking an out of form Dogs/Manly. So in your mind you're thinking "Who should I pick? this team, that team...." Then BAM Melbourne pimp walks over to you and say "We choose you." That would be worst case scenario because now you have to play in Melbourne for your first final, in Melbourne, you don't get to play at your home and you don't get to choose your opponent, add in that you A) might not have Nathan Cleary back for that match B) Even if you do, he might not be 100% and might even get injured again. If Penrith going into selection were banking on choosing an easy team to play (and beat) so they could have a week off and get Nathan back right for the Prelim, they've had that choice taken away, they've underestimated Melbourne and now are forced into a situation.
Question for the triple OG , do you think cogger could play 7 next season allowing pryce to become the 6 and add the extra attacking option to take some pressure off ponga . Also allowing Crossland back to 9 and gamble possible 13 or 14
Taane Milne has huge value going forward in the modern game, play him as a middle forward off the bench who can cover a centre/wing in the case of injury. Plenty of teams would love that
Hey boys, love the pod. Question for the next show. Keen to hear what your top eight would be based off club fan bases and their fan support? Interested to know who you would have in your top eight for the final series to really catch fire?
Scope and Big mase love you boys and love the pod, not a finals question but scope you gotta elaborate on the Hindy nude trees clip, can’t just let that one blow over 😂
I think Newcastle can definitely beat cowboys , they handled a very fast and dangerous dolphins backline which cowboys don’t necessarily have (eg hammer , Herbie ) I think If knights can handle the middle of the cowboys they can hurt them outwide especially with Dylan Lucas Bradman and marzhew running at that right edge
I'm tipping Cowboys, but I'm not confident. Cowboys have a paper thin defence, they often get caught napping. Knights have been very solid in defence, last score conceded of 20+ was round 22 (22 points by Panthers). Attack isn't much of a talking point, Cowboys have a great attack, Knights have an average attack, but it's good enough to get through Cowboys. But I think what might get Cowboys the win is if they get the ball moving and make it free flowing, high scoring footy. If Knights slow the game down and make it a grind, I think that suits them.

Hey boys love the pod, a question I had is with the dogs bringing in a lot of former players to be around the current side has there been any attempts to bring Hazem to give a few of the boys a more experienced kicker to work with? Or has there been and I just haven’t noticed? Cheers boys
Skip hindy was into you on jammers pod about your nude tree or lack thereof in 2012, is there any pg stories you boys can both drop from mad Mondays over the years?
just gonna send a quick msg to the boys to say that, the penrith boys will most likely not be playing for samoa this year because it’s at the same time of critta and spenny’s weddings, so i think if luai doesn’t play this year, he goes straight to the tigers and should go straight into work with them if he wants a chance at the 8 next year, love the poddy boys keep up the good work up the wahs and up the levels💯
Melbourne definately wouldnt see the Knights as an easy win, Knights won begining of the year and narrowly lost with no Ponga or set halves mid season. Knights tend to grit it up in games we are "supposed" to lose.
Look I wouldn't really look too much into those Storm games as both teams had injuries and we took 1 win each. Storm narrowly lost the first game with no Munster, Hughes and Asofa-Solamona. Storm won in the 2nd game with no Munster and Papenhuyzen. We have had injuries all season too, yet we've managed to get the minor premiership and only lost 5 games (That cowboys one has an * next to it though as we played our B side). I will give the Knights credit where it is due, you played this season with various halves pairings (was it 8?) That is impressive to make finals with that kind of discombobulation. Not to mention your defence has really gelled in the last few weeks, not conceding 20+ since round 22 against the Panthers (who funnily enough scored 22 haha). That's a solid effort. + in that time you've put some big scores up 34+ on three occasions, so on paper form wise, you've got a good enough attack and a great defence to take it up to the Cowboys. If I was them, I'd be worried. Speaking of Cowboys, they've got a paper thin defence, a light breeze would knock them on their backside. But they have a monstrous attack, so you have to watch out for that, the Knights have been good in defence, but can they hold up against the 3rd best attack in the comp? If Knights can get the grind going, I think you're a chance, if you make it a points fest, Cowboys will out gun you, especially at home. So Knights need to control the game, control the ball, complete your sets and don't make errors. If you do all that, you'll make the Cowboys sweat.
@@alightthatnevergoesout With these 2, it's about who controls the game, Cowboys could win this game by the length of the Flemmington Straight if they make it a freeflowing game with lots of ball movement and moving the ball sideways. If it's a grind though? I give the edge to the Knights, because Cowboys like you said have the tendency to doze off and if Knights pick their moments, Cowboys will struggle, especially with how paper thin Cowboys defence is.
Loving the poddy this year! Triple OG is the best Sharks fan here! Im happy that we got storm instead of panthers and roosters. I feel we match up better and the last 2 games down in Melbourne we have won. Hopefully the boys can prove some fans and mostly the media wrong! UPUPCRONULLA Thoughts??
Loved seeing Dog fans get humbled 2 weeks in a row lmao. Lots of them really back themselves after the Wahs winning saying they would run through Manly and then Cowboys. Then to top it off delusional enough to think they would finish top 4 and beat Melbourne in Melbourne hahahaha. First week exit bye bye
Yous rippin in to the journos is never not a laugh 😂 Question regarding the footy season in general. Do yous think its time for an overhaul of the nrl season fixture? If in 5-10 yrs they wanna bring in a couple more teams, surely you cant end up with a 30 rd nrl season. I think avoiding the want to have every team play every team once is important. A 17-18 round home and away season with each team getting 1 bye. And then set up for a september/october rep period, Origin, Pacific Cup etc. Id love a 30 round season but sweeter than that would be a stand alone origin over 3 consecutive weeks; and then a fully fit less-exhausted superstar contingent putting on for the international games. L1 since day one, uce LFG
With Roosters awful record against the top 2 should they be implementing a style from other clubs ‘Parra and Cronulla’ who have a decent record against these two teams? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Is it true that in junior kiwis junior kangaroos match back in the days someone in the kiwis put a mad hit on you mase and knocked you out, weather it’s true or not he’s got quite a big name for it back here at home 😂
No offence to Mongrel boots. We all have different feet shapes.. Lots of mates love them but don't buy until you know what type of boot suits your foot! I know from experience and not trying to bag them ❤ I tried heaps of boots, feet smashed on concrete, struggling to walk and caused more problems. I found what suited me, eventually. All the best!
Love to hear your thoughts on a potential play in round after the regular season. Top 6 is locked in while 7,8,9,10 play off for the final two spots giving the top 6 a week off. Would make for a more interesting finish to the year for teams who would usually be out of contention with 1-2 weeks to go. Love the pod.
Hey boys, big fan of the show. Do you reckon the refereeing is deliberately worse in the final rounds of the season so when it comes to the finals we praise how well the refs do?
Hey boys. Do you think the current top 8 final system still works? Or should we look at changing it up to something like the old top 5 system? For the last few years I feel like there is a clear difference between the top 4 and the rest who are simply making up the numbers. I know the code probably needs the 9 finals games across the 4 weeks for TV - but is it starting to get stale?
This finals system is supposed to heavily favour whoever finishes top 4, it's on purpose. Why should a team that barely scraped into finals have the same chance as the team that barely lost a game all year? Storm lost 5 games this year Knights by 2, Sharks by 7, Manly by 6, Dragons by 2 and Cowboys by 8* (don't really count that one though as it was the B side) So 4 (5*) losses all year compared to Knights who lost 12.....12 games.......and you're saying to make it even? Nah fam, if you want to win the Premiership, you need to earn it, by either finishing top 4 and getting the double chance. Or by doing it the hard way and fighting all the way through 4 finals in a row.
@@SilentHotdog28 I'm agreeing with most of this as well mate. The fact the Knights are playing finals when they have had an average year is what really got me thinking about this. I'm saying that 6th, 7th & 8th usually can't & won't win - so by suggesting a return to a top 5 finals system I'm saying to leave them out of the finals all together. The old top 5 system still favoured the teams at the top. *In week 1 the Minor premiers would get the 1st week off - while 4th vs 5th played an elimination final and 2nd vs 3rd played a qualifying final. *In week 2 the Winner of the Qualifying final played the minor premier for a spot in the grand final while the loser played the winner of 4v5 to stay alive in an elimination final. *In week 3 the winner of the 1st grand final qualifier has the week off while the 2 remaining teams play to be the 2nd team to get through to the grand final. *In week 4 you have the Grand Final. This system adds way more value to being the minor premier. It also adds value to getting 2nd & 3rd, while 4th and 5th have to win 4 in a row to win the comp.

@@danielrobinson2927 Ok, I sort of see where you're coming from, but does 2 weeks off either hinder or help the top team if they win their 1st final (in the 2nd week) Does this finals structure favour 1st too much? Then you think about the 3 teams missing out, remember in a 17 team competition, you're taking out teams that finished in the top half of the ladder, you're leaving very little wiggle room. The current finals system I think while not perfect, as it does often have games where certain teams are just making up the numbers. There are times where this is proven incorrect. One year, Storm (1st) lost to Warriors (8th) in the 1st week and that was at Aami Park. Warriors went on to make the Prelim. (that was in the slightly different McIntyre system) Or in 2017 when Cowboys who finished 8th, made the Grand Final. 2016 in the AFL (same finals system) Bulldogs won the Grand Final from 7th. In 2019 and 2021, Giants (6th) and Dogs (7th) respectively made the Grand Final. So there is precedent of it happening, yeah it's not common, but that's the point. It's a system where teams who finish higher get privileges compared to those who finish lower. By taking 6th, 7th and 8th out of finals, you're essentially saying that they are on the same level as the team who finished last, when that certainly isn't the case.
@@SilentHotdog28 All good points mate. Thought it would be the right time to throw it up for the boys to have a chat about in the next pod if they have time. Thanks for the positive interaction.
JT tough are you kidding half the crackdowns they are doing is because he cried like a sook from getting hit after kicking now kick pressure practically doesn't exist. JT and tough don't belong in the same sentence.
I believe Harry Grant either gave away a penalty or went to the sin bin for brushing a kicker's leg and when I say brushing, I mean barely touched him. Either way that is just pathetic. The opposition weren't milking or anything, if memory serves, the player didn't know it happened, then they were confused why they got a penalty. The milking has become a big problem, players are encouraged more and more to lay down for a penalty/sin bin/send off against the other team. I laugh at how soft Soccer is, but League is catching up on that front. Not because the players are soft, but because it gives them an advantage to milk. It's become so black and white that there is no grey area left open to interpretation. I think the bunker is ruining the game. Up until this year, I was all for the bunker just encase. But because they get so many things wrong, I'm starting to wonder if we need to get rid of it, or limit the amount of impact that it can have, at least something where we don't get all these blunders.
I still maintain that if Luki didn't do his ACL in 2022, Nanai would never have played for the maroons, late in the 21 season Luki utterly carved up

just gonna send a quick msg to the boys to say that, the penrith boys will most likely not be playing for samoa this year because it’s at the same time of critta and spenny’s weddings, so i think if luai doesn’t play this year, he goes straight to the tigers and should go straight into work with them if he wants a chance at the 8 next year, love the poddy boys keep up the good work up

the levels💯
Im surprised at how good mason in at this haha what a character :P
Bro, everything Willie said in the first 1.5 mins of this video fucking nailed it on the head!! poetry!
Melbourne definately wouldnt see the Knights as an easy win, Knights won begining of the year and narrowly lost with no Ponga or set halves mid season. Knights tend to grit it up in games we are "supposed" to lose.
I'm worried. Knights lift in games they're meant to lose, and Cowboys doze off in games they're meant to win
@@SilentHotdog28great analysis … as knights supporter I can’t see us beating the Cows … but that gives me a little hope thank you
Don’t ever doubt Storm again 😂😂😂
Heard hindy talking about doing the nude trees at a mad Monday and I wanna hear scopes side of the story on the next poddy proper giggle 😂
How dose the NRL treat player's that are on medical thc Lauren Jackson has a medical clearance with asasda any player's haveing them problems
Hey Scope, after listening to Hindy on Jams Podcast. Could you please elaborate on the nude tree and your perspective? 😂
Faalogo is out until week 3 - hamstring.
Yeah it's very disappointing, hope he'll be all good, don't want him piling up soft tissues so early on in his career.
Loving the poddy this year! Triple OG is the best
Sharks fan here! Im happy that we got storm instead of panthers and roosters. I feel we match up better and the last 2 games down in Melbourne we have won. Hopefully the boys can prove some fans and mostly the media wrong! UPUPCRONULLA

I love it, nothing beats the feeling you get when you see the doggies fail 😂😂😂😂
And where did you think the dogs would finish at the start of the season? 14th? Maybe 12th?

Question regarding the footy season in general.
We r gone to much reliance on ponga and not our halves not steering the ship
Knights 1 man team 😂
With Roosters awful record against the top 2 should they be implementing a style from other clubs ‘Parra and Cronulla’ who have a decent record against these two teams? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Is it true that in junior kiwis junior kangaroos match back in the days someone in the kiwis put a mad hit on you mase and knocked you out, weather it’s true or not he’s got quite a big name for it back here at home 😂
Break the video up with labels fam. Good listen.
No offence to Mongrel boots.
We all have different feet shapes..
Lots of mates love them but don't buy until you know what type of boot suits your foot! I know from experience and not trying to bag them ❤
I tried heaps of boots, feet smashed on concrete, struggling to walk and caused more problems.

Roosters got this week easy. Gimme my money 🤌
It's not easy, I'm tipping the Roosters for the fun of it, but Panthers should win.
