Since we had only two hours with the Toyota Innova Hycross, this video may feel rushed at times. If you have any queries not answered by this video, please comment below.
Even for 2 hours, it was the best of all reviews of the car yet so far. Cheers to that
How far do you think innova hycross will give the mileage nearest to the claimed range in petrol as well as hybrid?
@carwale
Had few questions on the hybrid trim
1. Does it feel underpowered when car is all seat occupied
2. Is it swift to overtake when on highway?
3. Is there body roll on the second and third row?
How is the gearbox?
Is it responsive? Or does it lag just like that in hyrider?
Can we compare it to a DCT?
@@pranjal70 thank you!
you are the only person in the automotive youtube reviews community who explained the 3rd row seats very well and honestly. most reviewers shy away from telling the truth.
Even the Crysta was much criticized by Journalists back then but buyers put hard slap on them.
There’s no question that it will do well. And like said, it’s even better now. But it still has a few shortcomings.
@@vikrantsingh6916 Every product has few shorcomings. But duds like wagonR are not enough criticized and we have wrong market leader yet worldwide market leader struggling to exist.
Thanks for reply.
The way you present your reviews is appreciated. The presenter is minimally shown on screen and more of the vehicle and its features (unlike some of your competition). You focus on the specific aspects that a user of the vehicle requires. It is important to differentiate between a user and a feature admirer. Keep up the good work !
Thanks Sriram.
I agree 👍🏻
My first video of Mr Vikrant was a Polo review & I immediately impressed. He focuses only on what is supposed to be unlike from competition.
This is my first time watching your channel video and i"d compliment you for your honesty and fairness in giving reviews. What's more important is that you give us a good basis for making decisions relative to this car. Thank you very much!
Just watched this video. Good to see the introduction of Hybrid mode by Toyota in India.
I own a Highlander 2021 Hybrid in USA & I absolutely love it. Also, I see some resemblances of Highlander on this new Hycross.
I love how u explain everything, precise , detailed. Nice video editing direct to the point, honest and not boring.. innova is indeed not everyone
Vikrant's accent, body language and style of narrative is what I come for on this channel.
Great review but handling part has always been the best part of his videos when the car's revved hard on twisties.
Thanks Saket! More on its handling when we get it back for another review! :-)
Brilliant review Vikrant, your calm disposition and knowledgeable presentation makes the difference!
Exceptional review as always from Vikrant. I liked the expression Wait, Wait, Wait for the second row electric folding seat...😀
Thanks! :-)
Crisp and clean.
Good, bad, who should buy and who shouldn't. That's what many prospective buyers look. Amazing car and awesome review. Luckily I fall into 'should buy' category 😁
Wonderfully reviewed !!! Love your insights
The best Innova Hycross video i have seen, I knew it'd be yours if it ever came out, happy this is the first thing I did on TH-cam today ❤️
Thank you Vinayak! :-)
Great review bro! Cant wait to see one in the metal. ❤ from Manila!
Good review; and u made an attempt to bring about some negatives.
My biggest issues are:
a) lack of ventilated seats in the middle row (missed opportunity as many/most of these will be chauffeur driven),
b) poor choice of this brown upholstery, the Thai model comes with nicer looking black upholstery and,
c) still using hard scratchy plastics all around. Even Kia Sonnet has nicer looking and feeling plastic
I wanted to buy this for my wife to upgrade her from her Hexa XTA, but I not convinced with Hycross fully.
Maybe the upcoming Kia carnival
This guy is very good. After a long time hearing good English is like music to ears especially on car review videos from India. I guess people who are comfortable in hindi should focus on Hindi and same goes for English or any other language.
honest review.... i just don't like how the back door closes it's too slow and the beeping sound reminds me of a truck reversing and also the struggle of getting in the 3rd row seat....
Thanks Joel.
Your review on the Hycross was 👍
Superb. Watched it in detail. Hence asked you a question.
This is what i call a proper review. Most of the reviewers say just generic words like more comfortable better handling bla bla bla.... This guy tells the details of what is required in a concise and neat fashion. Good job and trust me i have seen thousands of reviews ,both international and Indian.
Awesome review... Aptly explained each n everything... Thanks.
Indeed I don't have a lot of knowledge on aspect of cars but still found your presentation relevant and relatable. The review which you presented is very satisfying. I look further to buy a car and thus want to clear my doubts that which one is better hybrid one or petrol variant if we tally the two . I hope you will suffice my needs .
First time I have seen your review, its perfect and excellent 👍
Hi thank you for the review on this new innova. My question is when will this new vehicle be available in the philippines? And what variant to choose from. Thanks again
Hey vikrant your strategy of explaining is awesome, appreciated 👍
Thank you Puneeth. :-)
Excellent review as always, thank you ! How can we possibly get larger tyres better than profile 50 - do we need to get from after market by paying extra ? Would have been nice if Toyota could provide an option with wider and higher profile tyres for this large car.
Yes, you will have to get an aftermarket set .
You helped me decide with your review. Thank you for the detailed and absolute practical explanation.
Glad we could help Rahul, please do let us know your buying and ownership experience
Excellent review, but I really wanted vikrant to test it in the twisties. As every enthusiast knows, good handing is also an important safety feature.
Thanks Deepak. Soon!
Nice video..very informative and understandable..good job .
I see in Carwale specs no Rain sensing wipers, wireless charging and no GPS mentioned even for ZX(O) variant. Is that so? It looks ridiculous for 30L+ car doesn't contain these features. Also no OTA updates which means we have to live with what version has been installed while delivering the car? Your details will help.
Last but not least: Excellent review by Carwale.
I really appreciate your videos and respect your analysis....can you please suggest between Hycross GX and ScorpioN Z4 petrol because i m concerned about future of diesel vehicles....so i m bound to look for petrol vehicle.... please suggest me.
Wonderful review and a fantastic video
Hello Sir, Very Very Excellent and casual review. Topics you have taken it for review section by section , its unique . You did very good job. I wish you very all the best.

Excellent review with great information about the new hybrid powered Innova (still hoping for a review of the non hybrid powertrain version though).
Could you maybe comment on the non hybrid GX variant especially 0-100 time, 0-60 time, general drive review etc. compared to hybrid variant and also other petrol vehicles in the category? Thanks.
What about the optional wireless charger? Is it available?
There! at 13:27 you can see the beast from the window of this car. The epic Qualis by the same brand! They don't make such legends anymore!
Appreciated your review is very useful. 👍
Thank you! :-)
I own a March 2018 Crysta ZX petrol. The car is superb, no issues only thing is, its a gas guzzler giving around 5.7 kms/lt in the city and highway is around 9 kms/lt. Actually the mileage is not an issue to me financially.
My question is,
Would it make sense getting the new Hycross for more comfort and mileage but spending a lot...lot more cash? By the way I clock only around 6000 kms/Yr.
Hi vikrant sir. My running is around max 10K per Year , 30% city use and 70% highway use mostly for weekend trips/hometown trips which is on western ghats.. Currently own a honda Jazz(1.2MT petrol, 41k kms, 5.5yrs old) and wanting it be to sold. There is a 2nd car( 1.2 MT old hyundai I10) at home already.. Being given innova as a brand I would like to keep this for atleast 10+ yrs and also not sure in future I will go for another car of this size or bigger.. what is your opinion should I go for GX and save 6 lakhs or Go with VX ... or should go with XUV700 (AX5/AX7 desiel) or other Brand options
preference: Automatic Required with decent mileage , Good build and safety and reliable .. thanks in advanced 👍🙌
Very detailed review. 👍
Hi
To point out the noise in the cabin, I drove the vehicle and the moment I switch the engine to petrol mode, I can hear a loud noise in the cabin when you accelerate.
What would the mileage for Innova hycross according to your driving experience ?
What is seating height difference in old and new Innova
Will it require foot rest for old people to hop on the 2nd row
Very nicely reviewed..😇😇
At first Toyota guys would be like his review will bring us whole lot of sale..
When it comes to showing reality of cheap plastic bits, fit n finish specially the electric seat adjustment totyota guys would have been shocked to moon and back to earth 🤣🤣😅😅😂😂
Their sales guys will forget using that as an USP..
What would u reccomend Kodiaq or the hycross Innova
Fair and good balanced opinion vikrant🤝
Perfect review Vikrant ❤️❤️
Thanks a lot! :-)
How does the AC work on Hybrid mode? Does it work effectively on Hybrid mode?
Great review! Personally I'm not too stoked about the vehicle. Amazing review though
Hi, is it true that VX Hycross have acoustic windshield and GX have non acoustic ?
@carwale
Had few questions on the hybrid trim
1. Does it feel underpowered when car is all seat occupied
2. Is it swift to overtake when on highway?
3. Is there body roll on the second and third row?
4. How is the steering feedback? Does it feel light at high speed?
1- No, it doesn’t.
2- overtaking is a typical auto fare. So, not very brisk, but not slow either.
3- Body roll is nicely controlled. No worries there.
4- Steering it’s feedback rich. But it is linear and predictable and not slow. So, a nice fit for the car.
very Nice review!
Nicely done review Vikrant. Personally, I doubt if there are going to be too many takers for the Hycross. Having a diesel option open may more than help Toyota. But if they have decided against it then they would definitely have done their homework and would never go wrong.
Places like NCR and nosy, big cities should settle for the hybrid. Both personal and fleet sale buyers.
Diesel will discontinue in the coming time. 2030 and diesel cars are off the road.
in indonesia where the innova hycross is already on sale, 82 percent bought the hycross variant and the new gas engine is the new dynamic force engine from toyota..
this comment didnt age well with the 2 year waiting period.. lol
1. Upto what speed limit the electric motor drives and the range , there of.
2. On highways what speed the petrol drive train takes over and mileage in petrol mode
3. how is the torque with full passenger 7 seater and ac on compared to old diesel 2.4, 2.5, and 2.8 liter versions
Thank you so much Vivil.
Im curious, isnt diesel same price now as petrol in India? So a gas hybrid is not as fuel efficient as a diesel? Im waiting for this Innova to reach my country to replace my family’s 15 year old Innova
Whether i buy the car or not, but i am learning good english from Vikrant. Thank you.
Hahaha. Thanks!
Excellent review
How long we drive on EV mode ( in kilometers ) if we drive below 40 speed??
Thanks for this perfect review. We are looking for a good comfy car for the hills.
Is it possible to change low profile tyres to normal ones without changing the rims?
on point, detailed👌
Good presentation. I always found the Innova including the Crysta practical and effective but a bit crude. No luxury feel or high end ergonomics. A good tourist and commercial car best driven by a driver.
is it a quite car say riding in city, start off from signal and highway (NVH) ?
Fantastic review 🎉
Thanks! :-)
Lovely presentation..
For Indian roads which one do you suggest. ZX or ZX(O)
@vikrantsingh6916 according to you which model is deal breaker ....i mean value for money ....top variant or VX or VX(O) ?
From SUVish qualis to this SUV looking Innova, Toyota has done full circle.
which black colour is the one shown in the video
If hybrid car not driven regularly can cause problems mainly battery problem ???
Great Review as always Vikrant Sir. 🙌👍
* Talking about the design of the car... I think it is bit rounded & bulky and seems like best in none. (nor a suv nor a mpv)
* Tyres looks small and out of place.
*** Though I like "The Toyota Qualis" (we saw in the background) more than this Hycross.
Thank you. And I agree if not bigger wheels, higher profile tyres would have been welcome.
The best Innova Hycross review. Waiting for Vikrant to nail the review as always.
Thanks. Hope you enjoyed it?
@@vikrantsingh6916 It was a delight to watch
How does it compare to a AT 4WD Scorpion N diesel?
Does it come with Active Park Assist just like Ford?
Hi sir can you make a video for 8 seater variant vx(o)
What’s the mileage for only petrol variants
the hybrid is there for better fuel economy but nothing has been covered in this video about mileage compare to the non hybrid version. what is the reason they don't offer diesel anymore? do they really want everybody slowly to convert to fully electric?
What way the 2nd and 3rd row seats be folded?
Nice explanation 👍. By the way which watch you are wearing? Nice watch 👌
Thanks Sheel. It’s a Seiko SSB Mecaquartz chronograph.
Nice
How is its 360 camera quality
Vikrant, another Good Video. After the shattering news on the pricing of the Jimny, now considering a higher option, if higher prices are to be paid :) To this date I never understood why Toyota doesn't give customers the option of a 4 or Primarily a 5 Seater, remove the seats & just adjust the price accordingly? Based on my personal experience, I would like to say & as many may not be aware that the 8 seater (registered as Private in Uttarakhand) is forced to go for a FITNESS Certificate annually, not Delhi or Chandigarh, maybe not in any other state, VERY ANNOYING & STRANGE.
Fabulous review
Thank you ! :-)
Move aside other reviewers, the CHIEF is here! Best review Vikrant sir
In vx variant there is no option for 3rd row passenger to move the second row seat front and back by sitting in the back seat. There should be some option. Eg. If a second row passenger went out and if in case of an an emergency, the 3rd row passenger wants to get out, there is no easy option, which the Toyota should have considered.
I would love to know more about the engine, why the Hybrid …does it have an electric motor as well? Also, it would be great if you could tell what mileage the company claims and the actual mileage. More info about the engine is also needed. That apart for a 2 hours vehicle, the video is well made.
👍🏻
The engine is the M20AFKS dynamic force engine with direct and port injection.
Toyota claims you'll get 21.1KM/L
My hycross came with overinflated tyres at 38 lbs. Dropped to 33 and so much better. The 18 inchers
Superb and honest review
Thanks Raji.
Nice review by the guy.
Thank you.
Your shoes are of which company Sir ? Please reply
It's a more practical car for family with kids & frequent travelling. Having a hybrid systems mean better fuel efficiency. Look more comfortable insight as compare to the MPV previous version.
The previous Innova was already very good. Out of all the Toyota Cars, its my favorite one because it is comfortable and fuel efficient. This new model looks pretty great and improved. People are criticizing it a bit too early.
@@amerzing Toyota have the reputation for affordable maintenance overall. If those that want power and sexiness, this will not be the choice. But daily use, easy of maintenance and longevity...with affordability, this can be a good option. Bare in mind...I am speaking as a family man.
Is Innova going to stop Diesel power trains completely and only have the petrol / hybrid option ?
On road price hybrid petrol????
After Passat review , seeing vikrant with Innova.
Deal breaker for me is the lack of no eight seater on high spec. Eight seater got only 2 air bags
You didn't explain the hybrid feature ?
Since the 4 wheel well seem large and possibly under-utilised for a better driving comfort 14, can one possibly upgrade from 18” to 20” wheelswithout compromising the safety of the vehicle
Please try to post the pic of 8 seater version on CarWale app
We will. Thanks for the input.
@10:51 the txt says zx and zx o ride is harsh... so the vx o variant with r17 is good?
Will be, thanks to a taller sidewall
Toyota finally improved the features and design of Innova. It looks like they are looking at the new design styles of the Chinese cars like Cherry Tiggo 8 pro and Geely Okavanggo.
