Since we had only two hours with the Toyota Innova Hycross, this video may feel rushed at times. If you have any queries not answered by this video, please comment below.
@carwale Had few questions on the hybrid trim 1. Does it feel underpowered when car is all seat occupied 2. Is it swift to overtake when on highway? 3. Is there body roll on the second and third row?
you are the only person in the automotive youtube reviews community who explained the 3rd row seats very well and honestly. most reviewers shy away from telling the truth.
The way you present your reviews is appreciated. The presenter is minimally shown on screen and more of the vehicle and its features (unlike some of your competition). You focus on the specific aspects that a user of the vehicle requires. It is important to differentiate between a user and a feature admirer. Keep up the good work !
I agree 👍🏻 My first video of Mr Vikrant was a Polo review & I immediately impressed. He focuses only on what is supposed to be unlike from competition.

Just watched this video. Good to see the introduction of Hybrid mode by Toyota in India. I own a Highlander 2021 Hybrid in USA & I absolutely love it. Also, I see some resemblances of Highlander on this new Hycross.
This is my first time watching your channel video and i"d compliment you for your honesty and fairness in giving reviews. What's more important is that you give us a good basis for making decisions relative to this car. Thank you very much!
Vikrant's accent, body language and style of narrative is what I come for on this channel. Great review but handling part has always been the best part of his videos when the car's revved hard on twisties.
honest review.... i just don't like how the back door closes it's too slow and the beeping sound reminds me of a truck reversing and also the struggle of getting in the 3rd row seat....
This is what i call a proper review. Most of the reviewers say just generic words like more comfortable better handling bla bla bla.... This guy tells the details of what is required in a concise and neat fashion. Good job and trust me i have seen thousands of reviews ,both international and Indian.
Crisp and clean. Good, bad, who should buy and who shouldn't. That's what many prospective buyers look. Amazing car and awesome review. Luckily I fall into 'should buy' category 😁
Good review; and u made an attempt to bring about some negatives. My biggest issues are: a) lack of ventilated seats in the middle row (missed opportunity as many/most of these will be chauffeur driven), b) poor choice of this brown upholstery, the Thai model comes with nicer looking black upholstery and, c) still using hard scratchy plastics all around. Even Kia Sonnet has nicer looking and feeling plastic I wanted to buy this for my wife to upgrade her from her Hexa XTA, but I not convinced with Hycross fully. Maybe the upcoming Kia carnival

1- No, it doesn’t. 2- overtaking is a typical auto fare. So, not very brisk, but not slow either. 3- Body roll is nicely controlled. No worries there. 4- Steering it’s feedback rich. But it is linear and predictable and not slow. So, a nice fit for the car.
It's a more practical car for family with kids & frequent travelling. Having a hybrid systems mean better fuel efficiency. Look more comfortable insight as compare to the MPV previous version.

The powered tailgate is designed slow and is purely for safety reasons so I don't consider this as a negative issue and rest of the issues may be right. Thanks
In vx variant there is no option for 3rd row passenger to move the second row seat front and back by sitting in the back seat. There should be some option. Eg. If a second row passenger went out and if in case of an an emergency, the 3rd row passenger wants to get out, there is no easy option, which the Toyota should have considered.

Vikrant, another Good Video. After the shattering news on the pricing of the Jimny, now considering a higher option, if higher prices are to be paid :) To this date I never understood why Toyota doesn't give customers the option of a 4 or Primarily a 5 Seater, remove the seats & just adjust the price accordingly? Toyota will still sell as a huge fan following loves the reliability more than anything else. But upgrading from a Crysta to a Hycross will only look like a downgrade. :)
So you want to have good plastic at the expense of reliability? Look at the tech present in this car , the space and comfort plus the efficiency it gives.
1. Middle Row Captain seats not comfortable (seats are bit compact and you can't always sit with open leg rest) 2. Motorised recliner is too slow to move front/back. Also seats don't get tumble down while going on third row (bit uncomfortable) 3. Third row only & only for kids coz of low space, headroom, legroom. 4. Front wheel drive and Petrol CVT is not a good power feel to drive. It take much effort and makes noice in CVT while accelerating, that too in front while drive. 7. Plastic quality used in Dashboard and finishing is not classy, even the center tray in middle row is very much okayish! 8. Driver seat arm rest box is openable on one side only. As it's very much uncomfortable for copassenger to use the center console. 9. Hi vikrant sir. My running is around max 10K per Year , 30% city use and 70% highway use mostly for weekend trips/hometown trips which is on western ghats.. Currently own a honda Jazz(1.2MT petrol, 41k kms, 5.5yrs old) and wanting it be to sold. There is a 2nd car( 1.2 MT old hyundai I10) at home already.. Being given innova as a brand I would like to keep this for atleast 10+ yrs and also not sure in future I will go for another car of this size or bigger.. what is your opinion should I go for GX and save 6 lakhs or Go with VX ... or should go with XUV700 (AX5/AX7 desiel) or other Brand options preference: Automatic Required with decent mileage , Good build and safety and reliable .. thanks in advanced 👍🙌
My usage is pretty low (~4000 km a year) and intend to use it for my family of 6. 90% of it would be on highways and 10% within the city. The strong hybrid boosts the average primarily in city driving and makes little difference to highway trips. Financially I know the GX makes more sense, but I am not so sure if the mild hybrid would feel under powered on highways which seems to be the primary purpose of my vehicle. GX or VX?
You suggested that the hybrid version is better for city drives and short distances. Please mention the short distance in KM approximately. It would be much better for the viewers.
It’s more about driving in the city than short distances really. Driving in the city would mean one would be off the throttle and the brakes more often compared to when driving long distances on the highway. And this braking and coasting will help charge the battery, which means the Innova will run on battery more often in the city that it would on the highway. Which is the benefit one wants with a hybrid.
Hybrids give better fuel efficiency in the city where the electric motor is used more often. On expressways the hybrid will practically like run a petrol car and fuel efficiency of large petrol engines are usually abysmal ..
I would love to know more about the engine, why the Hybrid …does it have an electric motor as well? Also, it would be great if you could tell what mileage the company claims and the actual mileage. More info about the engine is also needed. That apart for a 2 hours vehicle, the video is well made. 👍🏻
Since we had only two hours with the Toyota Innova Hycross, this video may feel rushed at times. If you have any queries not answered by this video, please comment below.
Even for 2 hours, it was the best of all reviews of the car yet so far. Cheers to that

2. Is it swift to overtake when on highway?

Currently own a honda Jazz(1.2MT petrol, 41k kms, 5.5yrs old) and wanting it be to sold. There is a 2nd car( 1.2 MT old hyundai I10) at home already.. Being given innova as a brand I would like to keep this for atleast 10+ yrs and also not sure in future I will go for another car of this size or bigger.. what is your opinion should I go for GX and save 6 lakhs or Go with VX ... or should go with XUV700 (AX5/AX7 desiel) or other Brand options
preference: Automatic Required with decent mileage , Good build and safety and reliable .. thanks in advanced 👍🙌
GX or VX?
GX or VX have no cruise control is yet another irony for hycross...
@@Religionfree VX has cruise control i think?
@sanjayawatramani I have same requirement. What did you choose, feel vx or zx is not vfm
Very nice video and insights! Is the drive quality better than MG Hector? Is it more reliable?
Being a Toyota, Reliability shouldn’t be an issue.
MG is no match for a Toyota in terms of Reliability
Nice
How is its 360 camera quality
Thank you so much Vivil.
Is it possible to change low profile tyres to normal ones without changing the rims?
👍🏻
The engine is the M20AFKS dynamic force engine with direct and port injection.
Toyota claims you'll get 21.1KM/L
